Their reaction’s to Garp being Luffy’s grandpa were so wholsome. I remember the first time when i watched the anime and i cant even express how suprised i was , this one of the main reason’s why Luffy is such an amazing protagonist , he’s golden hearted , funny , ambitiou’s , emotionally intelligent and very loyal , but one of the best thing’s about him is that he’s full of suprises , he’s positive and ligh hearted but he also has lot’s of secret’s , and when we find out those secret’s we are so shocked cause that just show’s how amazing he is , he’s full of suprises and never stop’s making people admire him. I cant wait till the upcoming season’s come out and all the new fan’s will react to more shocking moment’s , cause this is just the beginning , the new fan’s dont know all about Luffy yet , well even us the old fan’s dont know all about him yet actually cause i dont think that Oda has told Luffy’s full backstory yet.
The old fans know everything they need to know - we don't know who Luffy's mother is but neither does Luffy, and to be honest I don't think he really cares that much.

My Only Two Favorite parts in this compilation episode; #1: Non-Fans (maybe New Fans?) and especially Veteran Fans like myself hearing the live-action rendition of ‘We Are!’ for the first time as the Straw Hats sail off on the Going Merry’s/Merry Go’s maiden voyage. #2: Every Veteran Fan’s and Non-Fan’s sometimes Raw reactions to Luffy blurting out “Grandpa…?!” when he spies Garp pursuing them. Both occurrences, Simply Absolute Perfection.
There's a theory that the Wado Ichimonji is a cursed Blade, while Kuina was walking down to the storage room to find a sharpening stone for it after their duel, it caused her to fall, possibly on to the blade because it didn't like her defeatist attitude and wanted to be carried by Zoro.
I like that theory. I always thought that Zoro had inspired her, she went overboard, possibly carrying heavy things she didn't allow herself above the stars. Just to trip and fall. But your theory is very interesting. Shame the blade Zoro carries could be the reason Kuina is not here
Ngl, I don't know what it is but I definitely remember an episode of this specific thing being on the show. The fact that Kuro was Klahadore for the last 3 years and Zorro has met him in a bar before that... He was at most 16 then.. It just gets me everytime. Zorro Is an alcoholic. Has been since his early teens most likely (maybe even since 12-14, because at 12 he lost Kuina, that might have been the starting point).
When they get to Water 7, I want Merry's actor to appear again to steer the ship to save the crew. Anyone who read the arc knows what scene I'm referring to.
Side note for anyone curious of why Garp was showed early, apparently one of the Execs of Netflix tried to convince him to show Garp earlier, which Oda of course refused and even after test groups saying the guy went for it anyway. But that is the only serious criticism of it.
Just to elaborate, I heard it was because audiences are used to multiple storylines going on at once for good tv they had to write the whole marine side story. This is why some fans felt it got a bit too much spotlight vs some of the things they wanted to see. But in hindsight knowing they had to fit that format, they did fabricate a side story well.
Except much of it is based on The Diary of Koby-Meppo, a cover story from the manga about Koby & Helmeppo’s first days as Marines & when they first met Garp. As well, the Marine side story helps with the world building for non-fans as it covers more what the Marines are like & other stuff from the world like the Warlords.

Watching One Piece for the first time is a whole different experience 😢 on my 3rd watch of the Anime, saw the live action twice and reading the manga for the second time and it still gets to me, and even more when now I know what is coming, damn, Oda is on a different level ❤ One Piece is la crème de la crème ❤🤌🏼
I really enjoyed this show! Netflix... well done! Now, you have 1000 Chapters, or roughly 15 years or 12 Seasons to find a way to perfect a Live Action version of the Gear 5th awakening fight vs Kaido! So get on it! Good luck with that!
the only thing "I hate" about OPLA is how the reveal of Garp as Luffy's granpa is too early, IMHO.. because in manga or anime, this reveal is like "big bomb" dropped by Oda sensei to the fans back then.. I wonder how they will reveal Luffy's "father" in the next season(s), especially to the new SHP members..
Keep in mind though that One Piece is an anime that does seasons a little differently than most shows. Garp’s reveal comes in episode 314 which is like season 9 and this live action covers most of the East Blue saga, at least a few seasons. They cut down a lot in the LA so it’s not completely outrageous they made this reveal at this point in the show.

The Kuina vs Zoro fight scene is better than anything they did on Ahsoka, where the choreographies were honestly, laughable, also, I find it kinda funny the reactors were mocking the two black cat pirates looks when they were actually decent fighters, didn't stand a chance against Zoro, but they were good
I think i was in episode 100 of the anime when i saw the LA, and i remember watching it with my brother (him being a OP fan since it came out and forcing me to watch with him even though he's caught up) and me being so surprised and a little pissed that we found out so early. My brother said that they first revealed it in episode 300 something in the anime (i'm caught up with anime/manga now) but i was so upset that i've been spoiled, but as we now know that was not the only surprise that happend in that particular episode aka. luffys family tree xD
