hi let me ask you something,A lamp ignition problem exists in Varilite VL3000 spot. The lamp ignition works when I remove the connection wires between the mainboard and the ballast. The problem is coming back when I connect the wires. What could be the main reason of mentioned problem, the Ballast or the mainboard? I thought that the problem is the mainboard, and the on/off info of the lamp prevents the ignition. If the problem is the mainboard, which part should I check or switch?
cihan You should first simply try swapping the motherboard with a working unit as it will be much faster than swapping the ballast.... This is a very rare issue, we know it's a possibility but I've only encountered this once in my career. With my fixture it was the ballast who was faulty... The motherboard sends a hi/low command (+5v/0v) to the ballast to trigger the ignition via the control cable...I could see the 0v and 5v on the connector but the ballast wasn't responding... Simply swapping motherboards will rapidly tell you witch part to replace...and it's been a long time and I don't remember exactly on witch wires to check for the 0-5v... good luck
