Enough money will buy you anything you want... I wonder if this revelation will ever be made public.

His medical was expired. His pilot's certifications were expired. He was not qualified to fly the Citation, and he was on pot for insomnia. The accident flight was illegal and should not have happened. Seven people paid with their lives for his negligence. Thankfully, his daughter is not among those dead. EDIT: Based on the NTSB preliminary report based on examination of certain parts of the Citation, it appears that Lara oversped the Citation, causing a midair breakup. The max speed is 270 mph (ground speed) and Lara had it at 350 mph or even above.
Medicals do expire, pilot certificates do not expire. If his medical was expired he should not have been flying on that day. This story seems to indicate his medical was valid, although if he lied on the medical application, then the FAA could have and would have revoked it. Keep in mind, that even if his medical was valid, it doesn't mean he was current on the day of the accident to be flying in those conditions and it certainly doesn't mean he was proficient at what he was doing. The overspeed is probably a function of spatial disorientation, which is what the root cause of the accident most likely was. Seems he was over his abilities, at least on that given day. Thankfully the young ladies mother protected her, unfortunetly the others weren't so lucky.

He probably suffered from pain to and didn’t want to disclose it. And it was way better for him to take that than benzos. If this guy had other underlying issues? I don’t know not gonna judge him on a 30 second video. Marijuana and piloting shouldn’t be mixed but we don’t know if he had any before the flight. Based on what was said he was not an experienced jet pilot and Gwens son in law was also a pilot but not a jet pilot. Probably the aircraft had an issue and they didn’t have the experience or skill to solve it, or just lost control over the aircraft. Maybe the mother of the child was afraid because she knew he wasn’t experienced or skilled enough. I believe with this particular accident it was lack of experience. Its going to be very hard to determine the cause; its easier in comercial flights and still it does take a lot of time.

That was impressive journalism. The ATC audio of the short flight shows right away, he was 'behind the curve' before the takeoff roll. He then flew right into IMC on a climbing turn, flying single pilot in a high performance aircraft. There have been questions raised about how long he ran the engines before taking off - as that plane's gyros spin up slowly, meaning his instrumentation may not have been ready to guide him thru a climbing turn in IMC. All in all, I think HE needed to "get help".
Im surprise no one is ruling out suicide I mean they were being investigated and alot of stuff that we dont know behind closed doors. It seems like he crashed that plain intentionally because when the communication stopped that plane plunged nose down into that lake
1) I think he was too into himself to think anyone could stop him. 2) He was 'behind the curve before even taking off, he didn't understand the departure instructions and had to be corrected. 3) The climbing turn in IMC on departure, flying with passenger distraction and no co-pilot in a Citation pretty much spells disaster for a low-time, barely qualified pilot. An airman medical is good for two years. BUT there are 3 classes of medicals. 1st class is good for SIX calendar months. The first class is required for commercial pilots exercising ATP (Air Transport Pilot) privileges. 2nd Class is good for 12 calendar months but does not cover ATP. This is what a lot of private pilots attain for insurance requirements and some commercial applications. The 3rd Class is good for 24 Calendar months. Each class of medical have a defined set of minimum standards. Here is where the confusion comes in. I'm a private pilot. I don't fly jets or turboprop aircraft. I may at any time I wish go have my 1st class medical examination. That is, of course, I'm healthy enough to pass the physical. Let's say I passed and have my 1st class medical in my hand. Good For Me! It's only good for six months. Does this mean I can go hop in a jet and fly away? No! it does not. A pilot has to be "type rated" in a particular aircraft no matter what class medical I have. That is a whole new set of rules and regulations. I digress. After that six months are up the 1st class medical automatically turns into a 2nd class medical for six more months. Six months later it is now a 3rd class medical good for another 12 calendar months with a grand total of 24 months. After reviewing the audio recordings our hero here was way out of his league. piss poor communications with ATC. ATC tower guy was exemplary. The real question here is why in hell was this guy granted a type rating for the Cessna 500 series aircraft in the first place? The Federal Examiner that issued his type rating needs to answer this question.
Not only that he bought his type rating and checkride credentials from the same guy he bought his fake medical i think the guy has been brought up on charges. This creep had just bought a brand new 6 million $ Cessna Citation that he had no qualifications whatsoever to fly other than basic piloting skills, he was trying to fly single pilot in an aircraft in which for a seasoned pilot they are a handful single pilot. I feel so bad for those seven people that had no clue they were getting on a highly sophisticated jet aircraft with this so-called pilot that he had no technical ability to fly. That mother is a hero she shaved her daughter's life!!!

I think I found the problem. He was at the helm which is a tiller or wheel and any associated equipment for steering a ship or boat. That's why he went into the lake.

The investigation concluded that the cause of the crash was spatial disorientation. This phenomenon most commonly happens when a pilot is flying in low to zero visibility conditions. You have to depend 100 percent on the aircraft's instruments rather than what you may perceive in order to prevent this. Lara was Visual Flight Rated (VFR) , but I don't know if he was Instrument Flighted Rated (IFR). You must be IFR rated in order to fly in low to zero visibility conditions. It was overcast that day and after he had flown into the clouds after takeoff, it was minutes after that the plane dived nose first into the lake. He became disoriented and crashed the plane. This accident was preventable.
The crash, according to one of the most savvy analysts on You Tube, was a murder/ suicide by Lara. Dan Gryder did a truly stunning investigation into the truly weird church and those people involved. He spent time with Natasha, as as well. I urge anyone who is interested in this case- to find the channel- 'Probable Cause' and watch it.
There is no way he had the experience to be flying passengers in a Cessna Citation. Money can buy a lot of things, but you have to earn this one and from what I’ve read it takes a lot more time than what Joe had. Fortunately, the pane went down in a Lake and not into a crowded population center.

Benzos are more of a hard drug than medical marijuana same for opioids.
He probably suffered from pain to and didn’t want to disclose it. And it was way better for him to take that than benzos.
If this guy had other underlying issues? I don’t know not gonna judge him on a 30 second video. Marijuana and piloting shouldn’t be mixed but we don’t know if he had any before the flight.
Based on what was said he was not an experienced jet pilot and Gwens son in law was also a pilot but not a jet pilot.
Probably the aircraft had an issue and they didn’t have the experience or skill to solve it, or just lost control over the aircraft.
Maybe the mother of the child was afraid because she knew he wasn’t experienced or skilled enough. I believe with this particular accident it was lack of experience. Its going to be very hard to determine the cause; its easier in comercial flights and still it does take a lot of time.

That was impressive journalism.
The ATC audio of the short flight shows right away, he was 'behind the curve' before the takeoff roll. He then flew right into IMC on a climbing turn, flying single pilot in a high performance aircraft. There have been questions raised about how long he ran the engines before taking off - as that plane's gyros spin up slowly, meaning his instrumentation may not have been ready to guide him thru a climbing turn in IMC.
All in all, I think HE needed to "get help".

Im surprise no one is ruling out suicide I mean they were being investigated and alot of stuff that we dont know behind closed doors. It seems like he crashed that plain intentionally because when the communication stopped that plane plunged nose down into that lake
1) I think he was too into himself to think anyone could stop him.
2) He was 'behind the curve before even taking off, he didn't understand the departure instructions and had to be corrected.
3) The climbing turn in IMC on departure, flying with passenger distraction and no co-pilot in a Citation pretty much spells disaster for a low-time, barely qualified pilot.
I don't think it was suicide, he was in over his head - his EGO killed him (and them).

Forget the medical...He wasn't pilot enough to fly that plane in that scenario.
Everyone in the aviation community knew the cause in the first week after the crash. He was not qualified to fly the aircraft. He went to some training, but did not show enough proficiency to earn the aircraft type rating. His ego got in the way of safety!

An airman medical is good for two years. BUT there are 3 classes of medicals. 1st class is good for SIX calendar months. The first class is required for commercial pilots exercising ATP (Air Transport Pilot) privileges. 2nd Class is good for 12 calendar months but does not cover ATP. This is what a lot of private pilots attain for insurance requirements and some commercial applications. The 3rd Class is good for 24 Calendar months. Each class of medical have a defined set of minimum standards. Here is where the confusion comes in. I'm a private pilot. I don't fly jets or turboprop aircraft. I may at any time I wish go have my 1st class medical examination. That is, of course, I'm healthy enough to pass the physical. Let's say I passed and have my 1st class medical in my hand. Good For Me! It's only good for six months. Does this mean I can go hop in a jet and fly away? No! it does not. A pilot has to be "type rated" in a particular aircraft no matter what class medical I have. That is a whole new set of rules and regulations. I digress. After that six months are up the 1st class medical automatically turns into a 2nd class medical for six more months. Six months later it is now a 3rd class medical good for another 12 calendar months with a grand total of 24 months.
After reviewing the audio recordings our hero here was way out of his league. piss poor communications with ATC. ATC tower guy was exemplary. The real question here is why in hell was this guy granted a type rating for the Cessna 500 series aircraft in the first place? The Federal Examiner that issued his type rating needs to answer this question.

Not only that he bought his type rating and checkride credentials from the same guy he bought his fake medical i think the guy has been brought up on charges. This creep had just bought a brand new 6 million $ Cessna Citation that he had no qualifications whatsoever to fly other than basic piloting skills, he was trying to fly single pilot in an aircraft in which for a seasoned pilot they are a handful single pilot. I feel so bad for those seven people that had no clue they were getting on a highly sophisticated jet aircraft with this so-called pilot that he had no technical ability to fly. That mother is a hero she shaved her daughter's life!!!

@@radioace318la He didn't, he just payed some guy off to sign him off on it.......... the guy was barely qualified/competent to fly a single engined prop aircraft, let a alone a twin engined jet. And the evidence proves it, mind you this is the first ever aircraft crash that I have felt no sympathy for the deceased. They all enabled and encouraged this guy and that killed them, plus their "church" was no better than a cult and probably did more harm than good to the people who's money it took.

My guess for what caused the crash has always been Gwen. She held so many lies in that pompom of hers, which was why it grew so frequently, that one slight move caused them all to fall out. That could have been a batcopter and it wouldn't have ever been able to hold all that weight, let alone balance itself out and autocorrect. Add to that Joe Lara's immense ego, and that plane was going down!

The investigation concluded that the cause of the crash was spatial disorientation. This phenomenon most commonly happens when a pilot is flying in low to zero visibility conditions. You have to depend 100 percent on the aircraft's instruments rather than what you may perceive in order to prevent this. Lara was Visual Flight Rated (VFR) , but I don't know if he was Instrument Flighted Rated (IFR). You must be IFR rated in order to fly in low to zero visibility conditions. It was overcast that day and after he had flown into the clouds after takeoff, it was minutes after that the plane dived nose first into the lake. He became disoriented and crashed the plane. This accident was preventable.

There is no way he had the experience to be flying passengers in a Cessna Citation. Money can buy a lot of things, but you have to earn this one and from what I’ve read it takes a lot more time than what Joe had. Fortunately, the pane went down in a Lake and not into a crowded population center.

Joe"s medical ticket might have been up to snuff but his skills as a pilot were not. He was in way over his head with that Citation. His previous plane flew much slower. A plane like a the Citation can get ahead of you in a hurry. The guy in the rt seat was probably clueless also. With all that money that Gwen SCAM lin duped from all those people , why not have a qualified multi engine jet pilot on board? Did Tarzan need to prove to Gwen he was a capable pilot??? no one will ever know.
