I recommend visiting Davao City, the safest city in the Philippines! You can experience the beaches of Samal Island which has beautiful white sand beaches and resorts to match all budgets. Also, go around Davao City, the largest city in the Philippines in terms of land area, and the 3rd largest metro area in terms of population. Davao City has the right mix of urban and provincial life. I've lived here for over 8 years. I grew up in metro Manila, lived in the US and now retired here with my American husband. Safe travels to you, Angelo and hope you enjoy the rest of your time here.
The Palengkes wet markets are the BEST thing about the Philippines. Live Talapia and other fishes, scallops, shrimp, fresh meats, no hormones or preservatives compared to America, the baby back ribs come out great, chickens, baboy, etc. Some of the best Palengkes are in the provinces as Bacolod, Iloilo, Dumaguete, Batangas, Tagaytay is good also. Everyone needs to visit the Palengkes and practice a little Tagalog in the process. Try Mahogany market has a great variety of mushrooms, lettuces, jackfruits, mints, pineapples, melons, all fresh.
What a pleasant surprise bumping into Angelo after meeting the previous year at the Boulevard in Dumaguete! I greatly appreciate our conversation and for him sharing his insights with all of us as to why he chose to vacation in the Philippines over Thailand. Angelo, you’re a great guy! Good seeing you again and I wish you all the best in your future travels! The link to Angelo’s TH-cam channel is here: m.youtube.com/@Ready4Travels/featured A friendly reminder, if you enjoyed this video then don’t forget to LIKE, SHARE, COMMENT and SUBSCRIBE! As always I look forward to reading y’all’s comments! Thanks for watching and yall take care!
Interesting interview. After awhile all these guys look the same. Same old opinions. Critique the Philippines....... getting very old. Philippines is a wonderful place. I'm 75, happily married to a wonderful Filipina.
In Philippines we won't cover, what's happening in our country. Our homeless Filipinos you can see anywhere. What's in everyday in our lives working people anywhere in the streets, our malls full of filipinos walking around, shopping, eating etc.
Thailand's tourism program is already set like a well-oiled machine. Philippines is still in the works. Each has its own charm. This guy finds the rawness and the not-so-tourist packed culture which the Philippines has, more appealing for his enjoyment. Filipino regular food is a challenge to foreigners in that it is fatty or oily, heavy and usually fried. Thailand's food rooted in their Buddhist religion is light, healthy style, veggies based diet. Warts and all, even if I've been to N-E-W-S of Thailand alone, I would prefer my own Pinas' geography, landscape anytime. Daily, Thai food is preferred but weekends are Filipino specials. However, I don't think I am yet ready to solo explore the whole archipelago alone.
Great comment and thanks for sharing your perspective! For me, Filipino food shares some parallels with Southern food. For example, we love pork where I’m from and so for me I fell in love with lechon and liempo but I’ve met many foreigners who won’t touch it.
In fact he did'nt mention yet the language barrier in Thailand and other SEA countries while in the Philippines at least 60 % speak and understand English all documents and signages in the street are not even tagalog its in english.
Eto ang mga problema ng pinas kaya konti lang ang mga foreign tourists at hindi sila nagtatagal sa ating bansa: 1. Rampant Corruption in government and public. 2. Very very very few modern infrastructures. 3. No modern transportation 4. No modern airport 4. Mahina or walang internet 5. Nawawalan ng kuryente (brownout) 5. Mahina or nawawalan or walang tubig 6. Nakawan at kikilan sa NAIA airport 7. EXPENSIVE accomodations 8. Illegal squatters, street dwellers and beggars everywhere, particularly children asking money from foreigners. Tapos sasabihin natin "Its more fun in the Phlippines" ??? Nakakahiya ! Tourism will boost our local economy kasi foreigners spend money in our country which helps our local business to earn more. The local and national government MUST do something to solve/fix these problems.
Agree 💯 I know some guys who prefer Thailand. Everyone has their own preferences and reasons for those preferences! Thanks for the great comment and Happy New Year in advance
I'd say if Angelo hasn't been to Palawan, he should go there. Puerto Princesa, Coron and El Nido are all beautiful and Palawan is known for its eco diversity. I've been to Puerto Princesa and Coron and though I myself haven't been to El Nido, I've heard a lot of people say El Nido should be in my bucket list.
100 percent.Thailand is only set up for tourism which is annoying the Philippines is not like that. The Philippines is not all tourists and has a much more natural better feel to it.
I agree with him.. I was in Thailand, Pattaya, I dont see locals anymore beside ladyboy. 90% i saw was white drunk man and other white people in the shop.
Am I seeing right? He has an opinion about Thailand based on TH-cam Videos🙄 Bangkok has touristy areas and Malls, but it has much more. I've been in night markets where I was the only foreigner in sight or China Town for example. Don't get me wrong, Philippines is a great destination, I've been to the places he mentioned and many more he didn't like Coron and Camotes. However, talking down without real ground experience is never a good idea. I want to go to Vietnam, never been there, I will not make any comments until I really have been there. Cheers!
I agree. I spent some time in Thailand and in Philippines and I like them both for different reasons. My new Filipino wife and I will be spending more time visiting Thailand later. Thailand is so much more than the tourist areas.
I lived in Thailand and the Philippines.I just got back from Thailand..He is 100 percent right.Thailand is all set up for tourism and is nothing but Foreigners.Philippines has foreigners but it is nothing like Thailand.Philippines has a much better feel to it.Its not all based on foreigners!
