Hey Everyone,
Today, we're going to show you how to install an OEM BMW NBT EVO, with ID6, Touch Screen, Touch iDrive Controller and more in an F30 BMW!
For this installation, we will be taking my car from a CIC to NBT EVO, which is the most involved. If you have an NBT in the car and you do this upgrade, it's not as involved. All of the kits that we sell are built to your VIN number and include remote coding, to make it as easy as possible!

Why not use a US NBT Evo instead of a European unit? I have full connected drive, sat radio and HD radio in my E90 with a matched US NBT Evo + ATM.
Nick Gorkes what’s the difference ? I got my hands on a NBT EVO EU it has GPS so I don’t have to get a ATM only a emulator where’d you get urs

Any considerations when doing this installation in a F31 with no nav? I was told those came with a HU_CHAMP2 head unit not cic.
Hi, I have seen you do not have the LCI Trimmpiece installed yet and the Climatecontrol with white letters.
I fetched mine at a Junkyard dealer of a crashed 1 series and the trimmpiece I ordered directly at BMW.

Cool retrofit. But for me, I would go Android PX6 retrofit which is easier and cheaper.

The CIC CAN bus signal is CAN1 and the NBT CAN bus signal is CAN2, right? Is it not necessary to convert to 4SK/8SK CAN2 compatible ZGW?

If you ever have to make an official update at BMW you’re gonna need the old navigation and I drive button?! I’m pretty sure the sistem won’t see the car with this by VIN..

Lol, I see your comment. Maybe I can find another car to put it on. The problem is the only screens that have it are screens like you'd find on ebay, but I'll see what I can do

Nope. In a forum it said Apple CarPlay navigation doesn’t work in the head unit

Great video. For a 2016 M4 convertible, would you recommend CarPlay or AppleTV?
Scott J. Parisi CarPlay definitely. AppleTV really sucks in comparison, it was like what you did before CarPlay. AppleTV requires your phone to be on and in landscape and touch the phone to use. also it gets super stretched out since bmw has ultra wide. CarPlay can do split screen like OEM.
I have a 2014 320iXdrive with the base audio/entertainment package so when I have a USB plugged into the port and my phone plugged into that it doesn't register on iDrive so I can only play music from my phone through the AUX port (I don't have bluetooth audio either, just capabilities to connect my phone to iDrive via Bluetooth)... Would this still work in my car? Does it enable the USB port?
Just a question... I have a BMW X3 F25 (2014) with NBT iDrive 4.
If I buy the newer iDrive NBT EVO, would it work if I replace it and dump the old one?

Some kits have it, some don't. Mine has that and has Sirius capabilities, just not BMW assist
I know I am ages late but I had a question. How did you get CarPlay without installing the MMI box? or did that come with the touchscreen/NBT EVO combo? Hopefully someone can help me because I want CarPlay (and touchscreen) in my 2015 F31 but I already have the NBT version in my car (not evo I’m 97% sure). All help is appreciated!
You might have the answer to this question already, but just answering for anyone else who scrolls. MMI Box is Bimmer Tech’s simpler solution to Carplay without replacing the iDrive Headunits for older gen vehicles. Installing a iDrive 5 (HW 3.2) or iDrive 6 (HW 4.1) HU (Headunit) allows you to have a much faster computer (400 GB EVO vs 200 GB NBT vs 80 GB for CIC), which can be coded to have CarPlay! An option for iDrive 4 is to flash it to iDrive 5/6 but I heard it’s very slow and clunky due to the older computer. MMI is the easiest path, iDrive upgrade is the most complicated and expensive yet highest quality path.
If Brian or anyone else could help I'm looking to get an m3 style rear bumper and really want an awe or remus exhaust but there are none that I can find that fit and custom is not an option because I don't wanna pay for something before even hearing the sound because what if I don't like it lol
Hey Rashad, have you considered doing the m sport rear? There are a lot more options available for it, exhaust wise

Hi, there are just less wires to run. Going from memory, I don't believe you have to re-wire the idrive controller, the antenna, the USB, and the Microphone

Would love to see a halogen to led headlight conversion
just buy the upgraded headlights. They look ten times better than the halogens and turn with you when you drive. Sure theyre a little pricey, but you bought a bmw for luxury right?
You can buy Depo xenon headlights and depo rear led lights for the saloon/sedan only
Same here. I did a little research, halogen to Xenon or LED conversion is more involved that you might think. If you change the entire headlight, you'll still need to ensure that you have the correct modules (and properly programmed) to operate the new non-halogen units. BMW engineers have ensured that the car's original control units, control the factory build only what it came from the factory with. Learned this when both of my lens self-destructed (shattering due to either material, process or testing insufficiency) and I attempted to upgrade from halogen to Xenon or LED with the dealer.
Went the route of subbing in aftermarket LEDs, good and bad results. Good - bright white not dim yellow lights at night, Bad - intermittent flicker (for units without canbus correction) on start-up/operation, Error messages (computer is looking for more resistance than LED create) that lights are malfunctioning, headlight are diffuse rather focused beams (as with factory Xe/LED) Cost - they weren't cheap!

Hello Why you have disconnect the rear amplifier?? I don't have understand...

That isn't the amplifier, but the combox. In the older CIC units, the combox used to take care of functions like Bluetooth and the 3G cell connection. Newer head units integrate all the combox functionality into the dash. He could have simply removed it but there was no need to do that once it was disconnected.
The amplifier is in the trunk on the left side behind the liner, not under the trunk floor.
so wait... every where i looked they said connected drive functions will not work when retro fitting, are you saying you can now?
Would like this clarified as well. Retrofitting connected drive would be awesome if they could get it to work!
I need a confirmed answer as well. Everyone doing retrofits have said no to this except the guy from Singapore doing retrofits. I just don't want to spend 3000 dollars and not be able to remote control the car anymore, that's a huge trade off for some of us dependent on it on daily basis
I have a base model 2013 328i f30 with original 6 inch screen ... I recently purchased an 8 inch monitor out of a 2015 328i. I’m I able to just put the monitor directly in with original oem wiring and nothing else?

Can I get some help with my install? I followed this video to a T but when I go to car play even though I get the correct display and can select all the apps, I get this horrible static and interference over my speakers whether I'm trying to play music or not. Also, after I couldn't get it to work I emailed bimmertech and decided to leave it alone for the night. A few hours later I drove my car to get gas and I didn't even get the idrive display to come up, all I got was "no signal" on a black screen with red font and I can't even access the idrive system. Which I don't understand because I had at least the display working at one point and I didn't change anything between when the display worked and when I had the no signal.

Can you upgrade any version of the smaller screen? I’ve read how you can/can’t do it depending on if it is HU_ENTRY or HU_ENTRYNAV
you can upgrade from the smaller screen to the larger one but im not entirely sure about the fine details

i wish someone made a box that tapped into the cameras around the vehicle and used them as a dash cam. it would be nice to be able to double the parking cameras as dash cams. even better if i can view a list of videos and view them on the display in the car. Just sayingggggg.... id spend up to 1000 to have a 360 degree recording of my car at all times. even better if you can activate it anytime to check on your vehicle or home or whatever.
