    • @damos_cars
      @damos_cars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeh, 8k does seem to hold firm. Keep looking for a well cared for private example. Should be able to find one. Remember DSG is cheaper tax than the manual as the CO2 ratings between the two were right on the threshold. Join the Facebook groups as you get a few enthusiasts selling cars on there. Cheers and good luck.

    Really cool video, I've recently bought a 2008 TFSI 211hp daytona grey pearl with cream interior and I'm loving it! Wanted a TT since I was 18 (I'm 38 now) and for now trying to keep it stock. May swap the wheels at some point but running 17" means car is noticeably more comfortable to drive on a daily basis.

    Love the sound of that exhaust! I had a 3.2 DSG MK1 from new in 2004, loved the engine, hated the hesitation from the gearbox, wish I had gone for a manual. That’s a lot of car for the money!

    • @damos_cars
      @damos_cars  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeh the DSG does take a bit of getting used to. Not as easy and smooth as many reviews would have you believe. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. 👍🏻

    • @readerj01
      @readerj01 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep I had a Mk1 3.2 DSG. Very smooth changes on the move but the delay on launch was a real pain initially. Apparently it is possible to get this mapped out to some degree but I left mine as is and tended to drive round the problem. I did the flapper valve mod initially (to the exhaust) which made the car sound a bit fruitier but ended up fitting a Blueflame Sports exhaust which sounded much better. I would have preferred an Edel01 exhaust but they are only available in Germany and I couldn't justify the cost to go get one. Great cars for hooning through a tunnel in.

    • @peter6782

      there isnt any lag on the dsg, it has a learning gearbox you must have been driving like miss daisy if it wasn't changing quick enough for you friend , you could have put it sports and changed manually but the gear box would still change quicker in auto than you could have.

    • @readerj01
      @readerj01 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@peter6782 I agree that once on the move the dsg (up or down the box) has the quickest - and probably the smoothest - gear changes I've ever experienced (and I've had loads of autos over the years) but the delay (or hesitation) off the line is very well documented on mk1 dsg tt's. In fact the problem wasn't entirely sorted until well into the mk2 era. All very well reported and commented on in American and UK forums. Mapping can sort it though. As I said it never really bothered me as I wasn't one for ragging it all the time and once you know of the issue its easy to make allowance for it. Needless to say Audi never admitted to their being a problem but no surprise there.

  • @jurgenkruijt
    @jurgenkruijt 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Really nice car - love it all and the wheels are stunning. I made the mistake of buying a c-class but the trouble I have had with it (2011) is unbelievable. All the BMWs I have had have been diamond - first Merc ever in over 20+ years nothing but issues. Had an A5 before but always wanted a Mk2 TT and this fits the bill. My next whip 100%

    Totally get these, always liked them, the interiors on the TT were such a quality place to be. That one sounds epic. Rear seats are so useful as you can put shopping in, or recline to have a rest. I find 2 seaters too claustrophobic even though no one ever sits in them. Had a boxster courtesy car and hated it. Terrible visibility , cramped no space just couldn't relax in it. Would I pay another 35k for a 992 over a cayman? Unbelievably yes just for the extra interior space. How does the performance compare the the 996.? I would guess they are similar. Mine wakes up at 4k then a lunge at 5.5k. Its a tip and I drive it in manual 90% of the time. Both 0-60 a fraction under 6 secs.

    That is some car for the money, not sure if I'd choose one over my 6 speed 3.0 z4, because the zed with 6 speed manual roof dropped and a straight six up front is just intoxicating, I had a 225 mk1 TT before and did not like the 4 pot engine at all, and it was just a bit boring to drive, if I do switch to something a bit more somber though it would probably be one of these.

      Hi, this one was registered in Jan'07. The 3.2 is usually a bit cheaper than the slightly newer TTS that I think sort of succeeded it. Maybe they had a load of mk1 3.2 engines to us up!? The compromise is a lack of tunability and heavy lump up front compared to the lighter 2.0 TFSI in the TTS. However, what you do get is this lovely V6 engine noise! th-cam.com/video/vwmWb1qU7kI/w-d-xo.html Cheers and thanks for watching.

    What is the timing chain situation on this car please?

    • @damos_cars
      @damos_cars  ปีที่แล้ว

      With the 3.2 VR6 engine, there isn't a specific mileage-based timing chain replacement interval. Instead, Audi recommends visual inspections during routine maintenance and replacement if any wear, noise, or performance issues are detected. Regular oil changes and prompt attention to timing chain-related symptoms are essential for longevity.

      They both have their advantages and disadvantages. TTS more tunable, more economical, lighter. 3.2 is heavier, bit thirstier (mpg is better with a tune) but sounds a bit meatier (especially with custom exhaust!), also they're good value at the moment. 3.2 DSG is lower tax band in the UK, 3.2 Manual isn't. Worth bearing in mind if running costs are a high consideration.

      @@damos_cars thank you, I will consider both.I am looking around but good to know that the 3.2 is good as well. Nice video by the way.

      @moarbi1 thank you! Few more vids on the channel with the TT including an exhaust video...! Worth watching as they may sway your decision.... 😆👍

    What's the road tax? Is it the highest band?

      Manual is highest, DSG is not.
