      @@CLOUDSINTHEKITCHEN Sure! @gloriasloancastellanos. I did have to make some adjustments on how I cut the tablecloth so that the embroidered part would be shown on the front. I cut the sides and joined them to form the back panel. It worked out really good because I was able to leave a cute slit on the back. Then I followed Courtney's instructions 😊

    So, i've watched your video and saved it to make it when I came across the right material. I thrifted a very beautiful white cotton curtain with a hombre effect bluish flowers across bottom and i had to do it. I didn't cut in half i used the with for front and back bodice and cut top of curtain for the shoulder straps and chest placket. It turned out so beautiful. I'm so proud of myself. I'm a begginer sewer 😊.
    I made chest placket 12 inches and it's a bit loose under the arms, so next one w be 10 inches. I'm a size 10 but i use 12s or 14s for a looser fit and the dress ended up as a 14ish. 😊😊
    Thank you so much❤

I also added pretty external pockets which I love. Thank you so very much for all the hard work that I know goes into creating a garment and then filming for utube. I’m just cutting out my fabric now and have a couple questions. The armhole pattern was printed 100% to scale but mine seems to be a bit smaller than your armhole cutout in the video. My armhole cut out to the size small is under five inches and yours seems to be a few inches bigger-I just wanted to make sure that that is correct. Also in the video you said to line the armhole cutout up to the top of the fabric but it appears you placed it a few inches from the top to cut it out and I was just wondering if I am missing something! Thank you so much and I apologize if these questions are stupid (I’m a beginner at sewing)!

    • @RooneySewingPatterns
      @RooneySewingPatterns  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Maggie!! Not stupid at all, questions are a good thing :)
      After filming the video, I made some edits for the fit to be better for the pattern, that's why it appears bigger in the video. The armhole is smaller on the pattern so that it doesn't go too far down on the side. So you'll want to align the armhole cutout to the top of the fabric still.
      Please let me know if you have any more questions!

    Thank you for this beautiful pattern! Sooo… I am a super beginner when it comes to garment sewing. Actually, this is my first try… I’ve only made a couple of curtains before. My pieces are cut (except for pockets… don’t feel ready for that yet 😊), and now I have a super rookie question 😂 My front and back pieces happen to have salvage edge both up at the bust and down at my ankles. Should I cut off the salvage edge at the top? I am thinking that the fabric is slightly thicker, and might fall better with the gathering if I cut it off? My fabric is a linen/viscose blend. I assume that with the hemming at the ankles, the salvage edge is just a plus.

    • @RooneySewingPatterns
      @RooneySewingPatterns  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! Yay for sewing for the first time projects like this :)
      For this time, you can cut off the salvage edge. I think it should be fine and may not flow 100% like you want it but may still work!
      Next time, you'll want the salvage edge to be parallel to the flow of the dress. So it would lay parallel to the long side of the dress. Does this make sense? It will just make sure that the fabric lays correctly :)

    • @Nora-jt9zy
      @Nora-jt9zy ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RooneySewingPatterns I understand 😊 Thanks for explaining 😊 This way I could cut the fabric with almost zero waste, but I have bought the same fabric in another color and plan to make another one. It might be more narrow that way, but will be interesting to see the difference in how the dress flows 😊 And thanks for a super quick reply 😊

    • @Nora-jt9zy
      @Nora-jt9zy ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RooneySewingPatterns oh… and another thing… I don’t know if it matters… I’m a bit of a perfectionist (but I’m working on being patient with myself 😉) But what I did when I cut my fabric was picking out a strand of fabric to get a guideline, and they seem pretty 90 degrees on the salvage edge. Does that mean that the flow should be ok? I have also pre-washed it so it should be done with any shrinking…

      @RooneySewingPatterns  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      hey! I would measure your hips and use that as a guiding point to make sure the fabric will be wider by about 1.5 - 2x this measurement. If not, you can always cut it wider!

    • @RooneySewingPatterns
      @RooneySewingPatterns  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi! You can measure all around to get the bust measurement and you can use this as the width for each rectangle. So if your bust measures 40inches, the width for the front would be 40 and the back would be 40 as well. This gives it room to create the gathers.

    Do you think this would work with a more flowy/drapier fabric?

    Can you please tell how many yards of fabric we should buy? Lovely dress❤

    • @RooneySewingPatterns
      @RooneySewingPatterns  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! This is all dependent on what size you are making. I would take your measurements of the large rectangles and then use that to determine how many yards you'll need.

    I’ve never seen anyone grasp a pencil the way you do.
    I love how different it is.
    (I personally think it’s cool and I wonder does it reduce stress on your joints? I love writing but my hands cramp so bad)

      haha, it is definitely different! I've written this way since I was little...it has always been more comfortable for me, especially since I use my hands a lot to make things and I love writing too. It would probably take time to get used to but maybe try it out :)

    Hi, great tutorial , but please can somebody explain to me how she did pleats? Unfortunately i didn't get the technique. Thanks in advance ❤

      I’m struggling with that too!

    • @cherrymorello7465
      @cherrymorello7465 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      With the right side up, mark with a pin 35 to 38 inches (depending how low you want the pleats, I did 38 inches). And then fold and press the material under on that line, so your right side up fabric is now 38 inches long. On the wrong side, draw a line 2 inches below the fold line and then fold it back on itself along that line. The first fold is the bottom of the pleat, the second fold is the top of the pleat. Then sew along the edge of the top of the pleat to secure it. It’s hard to explain but hopefully that helps.

    Could this be made into a jumpsuit by cutting down the middle of the skirt and sewing pant legs?

    • @RooneySewingPatterns
      @RooneySewingPatterns  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's an interesting idea! I think the best way to do that would be to cut each pannel in half so you would have a seam down the front. I'll have to explore this idea a little more because usually you want to cut a specific shape for pant legs to make sure it wraps correctly around the legs/crotch area.

    • @mikaylaboulton7001
      @mikaylaboulton7001 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you could cut a U shape out of the bottom, but it would probably need a gusset!
