The only real question is how deep will this depression take us. Will it cost us our homes? Will it cost us our jobs? Will it cost us our family members? Will we, ourselves live to see the end of it? Money is a tool. Like a shovel or hammer, its purpose is to build or destroy. The more money larger the tool. A larger tool makes it easier to manipulate. Rich have strong spoons and poor have plastic spoons. But here's the remedy--love not money but live within your capabilities. Believe it are not, a plastic spoon can be very effective if used wisely. It won't dig you a swimming pool...but better than no spoon at all
A tool of greed, yes, because it doesn't spoil like everything else and so allows hoarding into infinity and beyond. And greed is a self-preservation mechanism, a reaction to scarcity, which the (monetary) market system is based on and perpetuates, greed is hoarding and the result of hoarding is property, which again is causing scarcity, because what one has too much of is missing for others to survive, it is bad enough by nature, but money increased it to such a level that individuals hoard basically the entire planet and so control all of humanity with systematic blackmailing which they call "money incentive". The (monetary) market system evolved from a system of self-preservation to an anti-economy and finally to a cancer ideology, because to try to overcome artificial scarcity created by property and the contract law, exponential growth of consumption is required for artificial demand for labor, which means overproduction and extremely wasteful production, consumerism, planned obsolescence, etc., turning limited means into exponentially growing waste mountains, while the non-ideological definition of "economizing" is to make the most use of limited means while avoiding and reducing waste. Unfortunately Watts didn't get it and got stuck in that "energy" nonsense, while energy is actually a great example for how to know value, energy is expressed in SI units, like every real value, this is what is required instead of the absurd abstract token money that represents nothing but itself. He made some valid points here, but completely failed on the the underlying ideology, the actual system that is based on scarcity and inefficiency, abundance, sustainably, longevity, peace, health.... is the death of the market religion, no problems can be solved but more must be created to preserve and create jobs, it is a war on progress and freedom aka. unemployment.
Not under the conditions of a survival system that is perpetuating the worst conditions that trigger the worst behaviors for self-preservation reasons, selfishness, competitiveness and greed, hoarding, property.
Watts did not get to the nitty gritty of things, but rather made it seem more mystical .It is not complicated at all to change and the world was not always like this. Clue : Andrew Jackson's greatest accomplishment. And it lasted until 1913.
Supply and demand are all that matter. People will charge as high a price as they can. Money is just a medium of exchange and has no value. The Venus Project from Years ago has some interesting ideas.

"It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning".-Henry Ford
A person operates a forklift to move skids full of boxes. The renumeration is more then the person who placed the items in those boxes. The person who assembles the items to be put into those boxes is paid less then item placer. The Truck driver is paid more to haul all the items in all the boxes on all the skids to a destination. This cycle then develops into a palindrome upon arrival at a distribution facility. Someone unloads the trailer with all the skids and someone else loads them into another trailer and another driver delivers that skid to a store. Another person unloads the skid. And yet, another person disassembles the skid and disperses the items throughout the store. In the end, every person involved ends up the same. Struggling to peacefully navigate the traffic required to deliver these items or to pick them up at the store. Money can grant you access to Instacart, so you can avoid this headache. Then, I fear, isolation becomes prominent and we become surrounded by strangers we silently wish harm to.
It's not that we didn't have enough, just we didn't have enough for exponential growth, nothing is infinite and yet that is what a fiat economy demands. Every fiat economy has had the same fate and we've had a lot of them. The only thing that could have delayed the inevitable was good regulation and we are witnessing the complete corruption of all regulation protecting the ppl.
Playing fair is against the nature of having possession's, or else we would be in mud huts. I would say that infrastructure equates to money where the land can be made productive. Civilization's are successful or not based on land quality, and connectivity. Limit one or both then extraction, or the lack of it is all you have left which is temporary, and cannot be sustained so becomes the same thing. A desert has to be paired with good land to make capital.
It seems like the video is incomplete. What was Alan Watts going to say after that? "Be fair with others by not raising prices" and...what else? (Also, side note: the background music is unnecessary. The video would be so much better without any music). Certainly, good provocative thoughts. Thank you.
The hoarding of wealth and the pervasive nature of greed are fundamental contributors to the world's challenges. Humanity often prioritizes money over the well-being of individuals and society as a whole. This is not a complex issue; money is a human invention, not a divine gift. The pursuit of wealth has created a vicious cycle that enables manipulation and control over others. In this context, power and money become potent weapons, distorting values and undermining the greater good.
Gold is a metal and it doesn’t continue life in any significant way, we can’t eat it and if support life in any significant way. We need to focus on life.
True wealth is access to resources. The Earth is rich with resources. There is way more than enough to feed, clothe, house and provide for everyone, and can provide habitat to all manner of creatures. We only have to get out of the way with our selfish ideas of manufactured scarcity. We have to leave the Earth alone, so to speak. We have to stop mucking up the air, water, and land. We have to figure out a way to be in balance with the Earth. If we do not, we will not survive, and the great abundance of life on Earth will be greatly diminished.
Economic Collapse is leading to Societal Collapse and the Climate Crisis isn’t making things any better. If there’s a way to stop it, I haven’t found it yet and even if I did, I can’t seem to get the message out.
I still think it's unbelievable that the majority of people think it's a fair trade when selling their say gold jewellery and in return for the precious metals they own are given no more than pieces of paper with different designs and numbers printed on the notes, this is so normalised that it's not given another thought, however only our own belief in the papers worth gives it value, fiat currency is nothing more than a faith exercise.
General Market Saturation, the point when people have enough of everything that is not used up and reduce consumption and so demand for labor, increased by technical efficiency through technology. The Great Depression was the natural end of the (monetary) market system, because market saturation means abundance and abundance can't be sold, there is no point in trading if abundance is given. But it counts only for those who had money to satisfy their needs, to reach global abundance a global UBI is needed, which cause a consumption boom like never before, business would move and expand and this way the missing infrastructure would be built, meanwhile data could be collected to use it for feedback loops, efficiency protocols and production and distribution algorithms for Cybernetics, a self-adjusting adaptive system that makes sure that there is always enough but never too much and is reducing waste this way, a true economic system by the definition of economizing, making the most use of limited resources while avoiding and reducing waste.
“If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them (around the banks), will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.”-Thomas Jefferson
Money is just bytes on a computer 😮 A house is sold for 100k , loan arranged from buyers bank . BAM 100k in the contractor's bank , only Bytes on ledgers were exchanged . 100k was instantaneously born😮
The world is a horrible disgusting place where humans are treated disgusting and the real life problems are hid and we all are fed a lie. Why would anyone want to come into this life knowing what actually happens. More than ever we are struggling to be left to suffer if you don’t have wealth. What a sad place that’s designed to help and ruin people
Because the (monetary) market system is not an economy but a survival system that is perpetuating the conditions that it came up from, the worst of all conditions, scarcity, which triggers self-preservation mechanism like selfishness, competitiveness and greed, hoarding, property, which again creates scarcity.

The truth is that money it's self is worth noting, it's people that think it's worth something .
Very very good video thanks
'...to play fair with each other.'
Well that's never going to happen.
I do believe that most basic humans are honest people I think we've been programmed into not being that way. After all it's greed that runs our world.
Not under the conditions of a survival system that is perpetuating the worst conditions that trigger the worst behaviors for self-preservation reasons, selfishness, competitiveness and greed, hoarding, property.
It is impossible to stop something that can't be replaced. What does the world do?
Watts did not get to the nitty gritty of things, but rather made it seem more mystical .It is not complicated at all to change and the world was not always like this. Clue : Andrew Jackson's greatest accomplishment. And it lasted until 1913.
Supply and demand are all that matter. People will charge as high a price as they can. Money is just a medium of exchange and has no value.
The Venus Project from Years ago has some interesting ideas.

The only thing you can trust is uncertainty. ...and that's not even a THING, so it can't be trusted...
Wu wei 🙏
it's kinda crazy how nobody's talking about the forbidden ebook called hidden laws of the game on borlest
It looks cheap and nasty. Real David Icke stuff.
Money is 100% imaginary. It only has value because we are told to believe it does. One's health and happiness is their true wealth.
Money is just a commodity to service our wants and needs
AGED WELL
money and water. both vital to live. and similar vocabulary like currency and currents
the system is what it does, not what it says to be
Wow very well said
Currency is a means of exchange. Money is a storage of wealth.
😊 It's all good Mr. President it's all good 😎
Gold and Silver "God Money" In God we Trust. Thank you God
…but is Gold as rare as we've been told? There are, or maybe there are ancient technologies.
Money can never destroy money and yet money is used to destory
You can use money to destroy money
And they do that a lot
While they destroy your money, they make more new money for themselves
😊
Brilliant
There is no real shortage of gold. It’s maintained as a managed shortage.
Our money is becoming complete dung 💩. Barter becomes attractive all over again once they debase as they do now.
Where and when was this speech/lecture made?
This is Alan Watts, he died at 1971
@@rezanasiri6941 Yes. but that is not the question I asked.
Well first we have to get the Government to stop Price Gouging the Tax Payers..
It seems like the video is incomplete. What was Alan Watts going to say after that? "Be fair with others by not raising prices" and...what else? (Also, side note: the background music is unnecessary. The video would be so much better without any music). Certainly, good provocative thoughts. Thank you.
Just when humanity should be coming together, they turn on each other instead..
"Silent Weapons for Quiet Wars".
But it is real and rare money is just printed when needed or an extra 0 on a screen
The biggest belief system on the planet: money.
Bigger than any religion.
Background music noise is not necessary
Alan Watts says what I tell everyone. Money has no actual value...it CAN'T, as it does nothing beneficial.
Fair is foul and foul is fair. Shakespeare
Thumbs up
Economic Collapse is leading to Societal Collapse and the Climate Crisis isn’t making things any better.
If there’s a way to stop it, I haven’t found it yet and even if I did, I can’t seem to get the message out.
Stop inflation...return to the gold standard.
If money was real, the world as we know it,would be a thought of the past.
Time to wake up folks.
Money is controlled by the few, so it's not a fair factor which leads to disasters.
What actually happened during the Great Depression, any good suggestions?
He said it but I will clarify :
Gold is real wealth . Everything else is currency . If you want an experts advice :
Gold , grub, ground , gas , guns.
'Gilt'y as 'charged' :P
Guilt gilt guilds city London they have a monetary value
Money is just bytes on a computer 😮 A house is sold for 100k , loan arranged from buyers bank . BAM 100k in the contractor's bank , only Bytes on ledgers were exchanged . 100k was instantaneously born😮
Money is debt, debt is money
The world is a horrible disgusting place where humans are treated disgusting and the real life problems are hid and we all are fed a lie.
Why would anyone want to come into this life knowing what actually happens.
More than ever we are struggling to be left to suffer if you don’t have wealth.
What a sad place that’s designed to help and ruin people
The only thing currency can possibly be backed by is labor. That’s it.
I sleep better when I work more than 8 hours a day.
Because u are exhausted
The Venus Project.
Forgetting about the real commodities this would make sense.
Context please: when was this recording made of Alan Watt's voice, not the vid, thanks? Otherwise hear here, now but how?
🖖
I grok. Live long and prosper.
RBE, NOW! 🖖
Watch the ‘ Great Taking’ ( Webb)
People are not equal in ability or capacity, therefore the poor, the lazy and the mentally deficient suffer because that's the way it is.
Because the (monetary) market system is not an economy but a survival system that is perpetuating the conditions that it came up from, the worst of all conditions, scarcity, which triggers self-preservation mechanism like selfishness, competitiveness and greed, hoarding, property, which again creates scarcity.
