📍 Edward G. Robinson was a very popular actor in Hollywood in the 30s and 40s. But acting wasn’t the most important part of his life, he came up with his own enviable art collection. The Romanian-born American, who played evil gangsters, was seen with special sensitivity and sophisticated eyes for arts. In a short time he made a fine choice and to give us an idea, Rembrandt, Matisse or Gauguin. Robinson was born in 1893 and was an actor for about 40 years.

Robinson was very generous. We all could take a page from his book.

Edward G. Robinson was among one of my favorites. I think I've seen vast majority of his movies, and his presence made me really fall in love with vintage films. I seen an article about him once, and he was very pleasant and eloquent. This made me respect him even more as an Actor.

"... shrewd and bemused..." in Double Indemnity - and, uncharacteristically, the good guy. That he was so very convincing is in part due to his masterful underplaying of the role.

a lot of his coworkers described him as being very warm, a genuinely nice, good person....very ahead-of-his-time politics too.

See the great movie Double Indemnity and you will know how good this guy can be. Steals every scene.

Yes indeed. Stanwyck and MacMurray starred, but Edward G. Robinson steals the movie with his brilliant acting.

The Hatchet Man should have cast Asians to play Asian roles. I’m just sayin. I’m sure there were talented Asian actors. No shade on Edward G Robinson.

Hollywood was built on Jewish people. The men who built the old studios were Jewish, the Warner Bros, MGM etc. I can't believe Edward G Robinson is in a comedy always saw him in film noir films.
