I lived there as a Brat 1969 to 1971. I really appreciated your video but found myself crying out as you passed the chapel and turned left. I volunteered at the hospital and the chapel was our hangout. Had you gone a bit further straight from the chapel you would have arrived at our quarters which are now gone. But thank you so much for this video reminder.
This is something, i was stationed in Schofield barracks Hawaii, but trained at the All Army wrestling trials on Fort Dix NJ during that very time. Our barracks was New Jersey ave. It snowed about 2 weeks before this video. Kind of like jumping in a time machine! Thanks for the video.
I left there for Ft. Rucker, Alabama just two weeks before this video was made! Drill Sergeant Cruz, 2nd Platoon! WOW!! It's been 28 1/2 years since I saw any of this stuff. Cool shit!! Memories galore!!
I went to Fort Dix for Basic Training from May-July 1984. E-4-3 (how the fuck do I remember stupid shit like that?!) We used to wrestle in the back of the barracks on Sundays after church. I don't mean to toot my own horn (yes I do), but I was the undefeated champion. Even beat a few guys that claimed to have wrestled in college. I heard "When Doves Cry" by Prince for the first time sitting under the window of a permanent party guy's room in the "back yard"-Blew me away. Peace to my BT bros.
I had Thansgiving Dinner on this day in 1964 while in FCo. 1st. Training Reg. A great meal, and memory as well. A long overdue Thank You to the guys in the Mess Hall.
D-1-5 January 1985, Drill SGT Stio... Drill SGT of the Cycle 3rd cycle running. (little Satan) I will never forget ( Yes there were no "Species-Confused" Soldiers - and Yes they could still do the much needed "Wall to wall counseling" ) Thanks for the memories.
Delta 4-1 jan 82 to june 82, nice shot of Wrightstown, I ate at the café that was across the tattoo parlor all the time, had mini juke boxes on the tables, wow, long time ago
Basic Training C-3-5 and D-1-5 in late 1983. Yes, I restarted. I had never up to then or since been so freaking COLD!!!!! I swore I'd never set foot in New Jersey ever again. So far, so good.
I was stationed there then, but not in the Basic/AIT units. I was at the Personnel Control Facility (PCF) where the AWOLs were brought for out processing. Anyone remember what the unit patch was?
Visited there last year and much hasn't changed for the barracks ... they put carpet into the fort dix barracks ... the commissary got a bit of a face lift and possibly some new buildings but that's about it tbh . Not a terrible base just a bit boring tbh. NYC was fun to visit on the weekends though and appalachia had some good skiing up in Vermont.
I spent about a month at Ft Dix in November 1962 in an overseas shipping company. I was with four other guys going to Sinope, Turkey, and all the other guys in our company shipped out for Europe except us four. I don't think they knew how to get us there. After about a month, of pulling guard duty, KP, and laundry details, we finally got orders to catch a bus to New York city and fly on a Pan American flight to Ankara Turkey. I remember picking up trash all over that post.
A-3-3 back in 1986. Wish I could get back in touch with some of women I went through Basic with. Shout out to Drill Sgt's Bias and Stewart! You were great!
This is so funny, the guy takes a shot of his comrade name Richard Harmon sleeping in the bunk my name is Richard Harmon and I was stationed there during this time frame but the person in the video is not me.
