Thank you. I have measured and measured today and even tried Home Depot chat. They never answered. My FB friend suggested TH-cam and I am big TH-cam Watcher. Off to the hardware.
1: Its installed backwards! magnets are suppose to be on the inside ( unless you like it this way then its purely esthetic ) 2: stapling it the way you did could have made sense but only if the stapled side was on the latch side ( non hinged side of door ) of door as your door take up room making the center of actually space 3-4 inches to the latch side so that side should have the shorter side (stapled side). which means as you enter you house the center of screen is closer to the door than need be. The stapling idea is good but it does have one draw back as staples will rust and look bad after a while. What you could do however is use black nail polish as another hack to protect the staples from rusting and looking bad if you don't have black railing paint.
