In contrast to Momotarou, who spends his time quietly, Gentaro repeatedly shows off his strength and presence.
Gentaro's large body and strength these days can make him look like a boss at times.
But even though he's grown up to look so strong, there's still a cuteness left in his face.

⭐️Momotaro ♂(Born July 3, 2000)
Born in Ueno Zoo on July 3, 2000.
His father is Biju and his mother is Momoko.
His father died before he was born and he grew up never knowing his father.
He came to Kyoto City Zoo in 2010 and is now a father of two sons.
⭐️Genki ♀(Born June 24, 1986)
Born on June 24, 1986 at the Kyoto City Zoo.
Her father is Mack and her mother is Hiromi.
When she was 10 years old, she went to Ueno Zoo for breeding purposes.
But she had a bad relationship with another female gorilla, and she injured her fingers and toes with her self-mutilation and lost a lot of weight.
When she returned to her hometown of Kyoto City Zoo, she was fine, and she lived with various male gorillas.
Then she met Momotaro and she gave birth to two lovely sons whom she lovingly raised.
Genki has a cute face with shining eyes.
⭐️Gentaro ♂(Born December 21, 2011)
Gentaro was born at the Kyoto City zoo on Dec.21,2011,as Momotaro and Genki's first son.
Unfortunately Genki didn't have enough milk,so he was nursed by keepers for his first 10.5 months.
Now he loves his mom,and his face really looks like her.
He also loves people .
He is very close with his younger brother Kintaro and they play together almost every day.
⭐️Kintaro ♂(Born December 19, 2018)
Kintaro was born at Kyoto City Zoo on Dec.19,2018.
He has big bright eyes and long eyebrows.
He is growing fine ,being loved by his parents and brother.

Gentaro is a very handsome young silverback. I've always thought so even when he was only 10 yrs old, but there some other handsome ones out there internationally. He's so young and full of energy and needs a mate to start his own family.

It surprises me that a zoo hasn't jumped on the chance to take Gentaro. He's going to be a Silverback with a cute baby face. He also loves the visitors and interacting with them. He's such a special gorilla.
Gentaro is still a kid at heart with his Mom and Dad around and a little brother that plays with him all the time. But he’s growing up to be a mature but majestic silverback prince.❤️

Babyface. Gentaro doesn't look at all intimidating like big Daddy. He and his brother are always curious of the visitors that come by giving them great camera shots.
Exactly....big daddy always has such a serious face but Gentaro does not.
I understand Gentaro's behavior as testosterone that won't let him rest! And so far there is no outlet for this wild energy. Only galloping around the enclosure and throwing himself at the glass.
I agree. This is sad, too. He needs to be relocated somewhere and start his own family.
Gentaro has matured a lot over the past 1 1/2 years. He acts like an 18-yr old silverback now, not a 13 yr-old one. He is so ready now to start his own family, and I hope he gets too soon. He is so full of energy and is most likely frustrated due to being alone, in sort of a way that this is why he moves around and hits glass like he does. He is also showing off his dominance, as being 2nd in command He is too grown now to continually play with Kintaro, and he won't start anything with Momo due to respect. He's stuck in a hormonal hell right now. (So, to speak.) ❤ you, you handsome🦍.

He is already a silverback. When male gorillas hit 12 years of age, they are considered a silverback. Gentaro is now 13.

Gentero is the smartest and most beautiful in this family. The zoo needs to build another enclosure and find him a female. If they keep him like this, it's not fulfilling their duty to this "endangered" species

I love that Gentaro is so careful to keep his big teeth covered and keep his "play face" on to show us he's friendly and just joking! I hope he keeps enjoying the computer games as he matures.

Gentaro is definitely getting the right appearance, but he certainly doesn't act like a boss. Unfortunately that's not his fault. Maybe one day this zoo will do the right thing for these wonderful animals. They deserve better than what they are getting.
How can he act like a boss in the situation he is in. He knows Momotaro is the Alpha male in this troop. He would act like an alpha if they found him a mate and relocated him. He is showing dominance to the best of his ability. He's in a hormonal hell right now.
@ellenknell9645 I agree he is in a terrible situation right now. That's why I said hopefully one day this zoo will do the right thing. However he isn't anywhere near ready for a mate yet. He needs time to mature and calm down. If he were paired with a female right now, he would be beating on her constantly trying to show his dominance. He is big, but still very immature. Hopefully he will get a new place soon and be able to move forward.

And what is wrong with making a young female gorilla submit under his authority? Oumbi constantly attacks his family but everyone says that’s “normal” so why not with Gentaro? @GrandRegentSScratch yeah right. Maybe watch some old videos of introductions when it comes to young silverbacks that still act like him. It doesn't usually go very well. You say incorrect like you can predict the future. LOL gtfoh. We have seen it happen many times in lots of different zoo's. Young silverbacks need time away from their families before being placed with a female. His aggression level is way too high right now and the female would end up hating him or just hiding from him.
@@GrandRegentSScratch I love gentaro. He is the reason I started watching this group. Maybe watch some old videos of young silverbacks when they are introduced to a new female. When they act like him it doesn't go well. I'm not saying anything negative about him, so not sure what you are so butthurt about this time. It's just a fact that the female would end up hating him or just hiding from him constantly. All young silverbacks need to be separated from their families for a little bit before getting a mate. Weather it's in a bachelor group or time alone. Oh well, I know you won't understand so.... until the next time you are butthurt about something. Au revoir

I can see that Gentaro puffs up before he hits the window. He appears frustrated. I'm sure the Zoo will find a place for him. I wonder how he would do in a bachelor group.. like they did with Lope. Lope is doing great in his new bachelor group... he's been there about a year or so. He's found friends and he's doing really good.

It's interesting how old habits of his, like dancing, have become part of the way he acts now. Before it was dance and play, now it's dance and hit the glass. 3:00 that is totally something he would do when he was 6 or 7 and was excited to play with the zoo keeper. Now it's transformed into DANCE AND ASSERT DOMINANCE. Lol
Gentaro is permanently in destruction mode.... he's definitely the most aggressive gorilla that I'm aware of in captivity. It looks cute because there's a toddler gorilla chasing around after him and he has a babyface, but believe me, he is a wrecking machine and a specimen of a gorilla!

Meus dois amores Kintaro e Genki, eu sinceramente pensei que seria mais fácil arranjar um lugar bom para Gentaro, não imaginava essas dificuldades, burocracia, desculpas, má vontade, e pensei quando Kintaro chegar a idade adulta também não vai ter problemas, foi pura ignorância minha, estou vendo o quanto está difícil, é preocupante, penso também, em Komomo, Momoka, Kiyomasa, Monta, no futuro Riki, Kintaro, Sumomo, quero muito que tenham qualidade de vida, suas próprias famílias, o tempo está passando muito rápido, e vejo essa situação não ser resolvida. Estou preocupada com a família Momotaro quando Gentaro for embora, todos vão sentir, mas Kintaro vai sentir muito, e não consigo parar de ficar preocupada, é claro que estou torcendo para o melhor para Gentaro, espero que toda essa situação seja resolvida da melhor maneira possível. Gentaro looks like his pretty mama in the face. He needs to be moved to another enclosure or another zoo with his own family of females. He's too big to stay with his parents now. Although his little brother will miss him if he leaves.

Les gorilles ne sont pas des bêtes de foire un peut de respect devant eux au lieu de les nargué sans arrêt avec des gens qui crient et font des gestes et des photos plus les enfants qui crient ça rend les gorilles anxieux c'est désolant un tel comportement.....
