Here's an unpopular opinion: Developing countries should emulate and adopt the land/mineral ownership laws of the US. Most of the time here, owners here get a REAL say so in how operations are going to go. Can't just go raping and pillaging the land quite as easily as they can in other countries. Most governments aren't willing to give up that revenue stream though and give the power to the people. I'm not saying we have a perfect system, but I've worked in energy around the globe and I do believe we have the best, most fair system currently in existence. At least as much as is currently possible.
I believe that recycling cars to use to make pedal buses for the masses instead of mining for metals for individual transportation is an idea. I believe the battery operated vehicles should strictly be used for trucks or other work vehicles that haul turbine parts. Instead of powering individual homes with turbines, they should be used for things like grocery stores, warehouses, schools, colleges, etc. Those are ideas that can serve the masses.
Recycling can help, but it can't completely replace mining unless the demand for that metal reaches equilibrium. Here, we are given a sadistic choice of mine a metal for renewable energy sources and stop burning oil, or we could continue to burn oil and we don't have to mine for the rare earth materials. In practice, burning oil is far more polluting, so...
Romanticizing the devastation of the environment (through mining for rare earth minerals and massive use of conventional energy and non-biodegradable hydrocarbons) with voice overs and uplifting music is just shameful!
I do agree with what you say. However, sadly investment has to go more into making mini g more renewable and emission free. If we looked at mini g as something horrible entirely then it's likely that any energy transition would be held back for years and we don't want that. Unless we start something like asteroid mining then we have to adapt what we already have. It will be rough but now one ever said that this would be easy.
What are some things we can do to make mining green?

What do you propose?

Nice propaganda.
