• We need to recognise our faults. As long as we think we are pious servants and our lives are clean and pure, we will never attain spiritual progress.
• Example of a very lazy, stubborn horse, whose fed-up owner gave him to a businessman, who marketed it in a manner that the owner wanted it back. We become fools like this too. We know our sins, but if one person praises us, our heads become big.
• The first step to get out of mistakes is to ask Allāh for forgiveness. Allāh then starts drawing the person nearer to Him.
• An inspiring story about a young Australian lady, and the sudden changes that Istighfaar/Tawbah brought to her life in a span of three weeks.
• We have problems, and we have to ask Allāh for forgiveness to come our of these problems. Istighfaar opens up the barriers.
• Incident of a jama'at, narrated by Muftī Ayyūb Jeena regarding reciting 100 000 Istighfaar for major problems, and the effect of it in his own life.
• Istighfaar helps a person in the dunya, and against Shayṭaan.
• A verse that made Shayṭaan scream
• The greatest gift that Allāh gave us, from what the Shayaaṭeen plan against us, is Istighfaar. But it should not be a license for us to sin.
• Parable and example of a putting one's hand into boiling oil, and thinking a super dermatological cream will heal the third degree burns. It is foolishness. Similarly we should not be so foolish that we think we can put ourselves in sin. We mustn't take chances with Allāh.
• As long as the Ummah makes Istighfaar, Allāh's punishment will not come down.
• A reason the Ummah suffers so much (eg earthquakes, riots, floods), is because we have left out making Istighfaar collectively.
• If we want a solution, Allāh gave it to us: Istighfaar.
