- Narrated Scuba Dive - Triple Reef 2023, Loch Fyne, Scotland
On this UK scuba shore dive we visit this rocky reef also known as Twin Reef and The Ledges. I will be using a Guardian FFM from Ocean Technology Systems (OTS) with an audio recorder to give a narrated dive tour. I've played around with the format and included a dive computer display. This is taken off the Suunto and appears to have a 10 second resolution so doesn't quite match when the computer screen is shown in the footage but is close enough to give useful information. There are to my knowledge 4 separate reefs at this site but I've only displayed the top two.
A list of my kit used is:
OTS Guardian full face mask
Apeks regulators
Aqualung Pro QD buoyancy compensator
O'three drysuit
Steel Tanks, 12ltr main and 3ltr pony on Northern Diver quick release clamp system.
Mares Quattro Avanti fins
Scubapro Aladin Sport
Suunto Eon Steel Black
UK800 Custom LED dive torch.
OrcaTorch D910v video light.
Gopro Hero 5 Black
Gopro Hero 10 Black
Sony PXW-FS7 Mk1 in a Sealux Housing.
Zoom H1 audio recorder.

Brilliant, keep this up so educational getting to hear all the names of the stuff you encounter and loch fyne being one of my favourite places to visit
Thanks Jim, I'm glad you find them useful and I really appreciate the encouragement. Hope you have a good new year and all the best for 2024.
Looked a bit hairy getting in and out nice vid.
Thanks Jim, It was too shallow to jump in and the we couldn't really see the rocks so opted to slide in. Getting out was easier than I thought but there is always a worry that things may get worse while your down.
Very interesting; I have a place on Loch Fyne, 1/2 way down the east side, often see you guys diving from the shore. What minimum depth do you usually see the Scallops in the loch? I am beginning snorkling further down the loch & would like to maybe get some if I'm lucky; going in at low tide for shorter depth...
There is no set depth for scallops you can find them at any depth below the low water mark. They do prefer a specific type of sand/gravel ground which is what your looking for to find them. I have picked them up snorkeling but there are less of them under say 7m.
Worrying lack of fish in loch Fyne
I agree Alan, I'm not sure if it's our bubbles scaring them off or they are just not there. Lots of small stuff, gobies etc but very little schooling fish usually Pollack. You do occasionally find bigger fish but usually deep in a crack.
