I like the way that the twist was foreshadowed when the butt kicking lady said, "Trust another Drake?" and, "I'm sick of your brother and I'm sick of you!" during that epic fight with her. Those lines together raised an eyebrow with me.
I am honestly so surprised when people are not more angry at Sam...like, the shit that he just pulled, is completely unforgivable! And the bit that I feel always gets lost in that reveal, is that Sam has been out of prison for 2 years, and not once in those two years did he bother to contact his little brother to say that he wasn't dead.
It's because of the way the devs handled the transition after the reveal. Players see Nate pissed and the players get to feel that anger but the game doesn't let them process it further due to how they transition from Nate going unconscious and into a flashback gameplay exploring more about Nate and Sam's past, showing players Nate and Sam's closeness as brothers/siblings.
The central theme with the Drake's and Evelyn, is obsession, to the cost of their own families. Sam IS Nathan in the earlier games, because he never had the adventurer life he was wanting to have with Nathan due to being in jail. Is he a dick here? Yes, sure. Is it understandable considering his and his mother's history? Absolutely. And though he drags Nathan into this, we see twice in this episode, he'll take a bullet for his brother when push comes to shove. And Nathan didn't need much pushing to get back in the game either, its in their blood.
I wasn't upset with Sam after they flashbacked to the old ladies mansion because she said that their mom started looking for Avery's treasure and the old lady said that they(nate and sam) should finish what their mom started. So Sam wanted to finish what his mom started with nate.
The next segment with Elena is like probably my favourite part of this whole game, like Sully and Sam are great, but Elena is easily the most interesting character to have Nate bounce off of in conversation.

They did a great job writing their dialogue and directing their scenes, her being around and talking to him makes him a better person and he sparks her passion. They’re perfect for each other.

i love how we learn about sam and nate past at last...and the history of their mother. Tokugawa was a famous family in feudal Japan and Ieyasu Tokugawa was famous leader in that era...interesting trivia for you. the woman who owns the house bought their mum's stuff after she died, because they worked together...it makes sense once you talk to the old woman.

I knew you'd LOVE chapter 17 (Which is the next ep). It was awesome to see you light up. I think chapter 17 of UC4 is my favorite chapter in any game. There is so much development between Nate and Elena and it's all done through 17 and chapter 18. 17 is better of the two imho.

Biggest one I saw was at the very beginning, he said he was roommates with the Butcher a year ago, but his story said he only had 3 months (less considering the time it took him to get to New Orleans).

After seeing how excited you were to see the Weston's Pharmacy pill bottle I rushed over to your Last of Us 2 playthrough to see you go crazy over finding Nate's ring, but turns out you hadn't played Uncharted yet....😞
When Sam and Nate took the polaroid photo, you asked whether they kept it. To find the answer to this, go back to your playthrough, Video 2, at 5:40. Notice that Nate can't be seen in the photo, because the game didn't know at that point whether you'd be wearing a hat, or which hat. But you can see the hat Sam was wearing. What makes Evelyn's story even sadder is that she knows she's dying, so she has tried to reconnect with her son, but it's too late. She has driven away her family. Although it's possible that his attitude would soften if he knew that she was dying. Just heartbreaking.

it hurts my soul every time i see libertalia just carelessly destroyed by a fuckin RPG. it's one thing to knock down a wall to get somewhere but to tear down entire buildings to kill 2 dudes?! surprisingly, you didn't flip over that first letter in the attic. if you had, you would've seen a picture of ken with the armor, which you can later find in the house
