      I know- they stopped flights from Europe... two weeks ago? They should have halted ALL international travel until they understood the virus a little better MONTHS ago. They told ppl to “prepare for quarantine” only to have scared ppl empty stores. Now only a small percentage of the population has goods. And those ppl had to gather in giant crowds at the stores. Everyone else has to go out almost daily just to get necessities. I have twin 7 month olds- how long do you think my goods will last? If I want to get baby water for formula. I’m limited to two gallons. So in three days or so I have to trek out again to get more. Or get in line very early and wait to get ahold of more wipes. It feels like we are doomed to fail.

      WHO is nothing but a sector of the CCP

    • @thebootesvoid1056
      @thebootesvoid1056 4 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      During the 2003 SARS outbreak, Taiwan, excluded from the WHO, needed information on the SARS virus strain and asked help from Hong Kong, which said yes first. But the move was stopped by Beijing, leaving dozens of Taiwanese killed by SARS.
      In September 1999, when Taiwan was severely hit by an earthquake, the CCP prevented a Russian rescue team from visiting Taiwan. (By the way, Japan arrived in Taiwan first due to geographical proximity but it was a Turkish rescue team that first expressed willingness to come to Taiwan; that was why Taiwanese people donated lots of money to Turkey, which was hit by earthquake this January, in return.)
      China has been making every effort to weaken Taiwan in a bid to take it over. Eight million voted in favor of Tsai Ingwen this January. Sadly there are still at least 5 million pro-China voters against Tsai. One reason is that Taiwan has been infiltrated at all layers in society in ways more severely than how the WHO was taken over by China.
      Taiwan really needs international recognition because the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) wants Taiwan as a military base on the western Pacific island chain. That's also why China gained the Solomon Islands and Kiribati as allies last year. The two island countries had been among few of the countries having diplomatic ties with Taiwan.
      The CCP's ownership of Taiwan, if unfortunately made possible, can mean a huge threat to the world. We should take this seriously.

      The constitution of the Republic of China (Taiwan) still states that they claim Mainland China, but the people of Taiwan do not want to do anything with China. Changing the constitution can lead to change of government and eventually, independence. As much as the Taiwanese want to be independent, they of course do not want to be nuked by China.

      @redDL89 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Neyobe "But Taiwan thinks they own China, and China thinks they own taiwan"
      That depends on who you talk to. The traditional position of the KMT Party is that it is the legitimate ruler of China, and that the guy sitting in Beijing should be the KMT not the CCP. The DPP and other green-leaning parties, however, don't subscribe to that view, nor do they care much about it. The DPP puts more emphasis on Taiwan's unique identity, culture, history, and values, and generally distances itself from the idea of cross-straight unification. This does NOT mean, however, that the DPP wants to isolate Taiwan from China, nor does it mean that the DPP wants to completely shut out the idea of peaceful unification. Its current policy is to keep all options on the table, as far as the future of Taiwan is concerned.

    I am a Taiwan people. Per my observation, the key point that makes Taiwan remain OK is that our anti COVID 19 campaign is led by a team of experts. Many of them are also doctors. They are given full authority to quickly respond to the changes and can win people' trust. And our President and Premier both step back to support this team. I think this is very critical but ignored by most observers.

      Also Taiwan's experts didn't spread misinformation like US experts did. "Masks don't protect you at all if you're healthy" (asserted by "experts" in the US) is contradicted by literally every scientific study ever done on the matter, and makes the public lose trust. It is important to make sure health care workers get the masks during the shortage because they need it more, but telling a lie to try to prevent hoarding just causes further harm as people think they shouldn't wear one even if they already have one.

My fellow friends and coworkers told me not to trust what chinese media reports, as the number has been edited to hide the real casualties. The truth is far more devastating than what they want us to see. Hansen Says Take A Seat From my understanding, they were not getting as much information as the rest of the other countries because they are not included in the WHO. China wouldn’t share information with them so they had to rely on ‘friendly’ countries like the US and European countries to obtain the information that the WHO was releasing about COVID-19. They reacted quickly & efficiently - the numbers speak for themselves.

    • @TalesOfGod
      @TalesOfGod 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Hansen Says Take A Seat They were receiving cases from Wuhan and took the counter measures against it. In the exact same time that China was arresting doctors, publishing misinformation and denying the existence of the virus, Taiwan was the first one to warn the WHO and were the ones that actually wrote up the countermeasure procedures against it. They were also the first in the world to act against it and as others have noted, the numbers speak for themselves. Their quick response has saved thousands of lives in their country, China did infect the entire world and is responsible for it.
      This is why they managed to make so much progress and has been able to keep the situation under control. If you have been looking at the situation since the beginning, it all falls in place.

      @pikenote 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@jonnymario771 I would say the bad part on the American response was how delayed it was. At first it was just travel ban from China and then it started to spread to other countries in Europe. The US didnt officially prepare for a pandemic even when they saw how fast it spread. Only once it got bad enough did the American government call for a state of emergency and enact many policies. Also, American numbers are way too low. America does not actively distribute test kits, and only does do to people who have the symptoms. The issue with that is yes, you found out the person who caught it a while back but you dont know who they've spread it to. Now, everyone who caught it say from that person but not tested before reports symptoms and then now in that period they spread it to more people. We dont test for people without symptoms and we wait essentially but in that case we also wait for it to spread.

      kaito kiddo masks don’t keep the virus from entering your body, masks are used to prevent the infected from spreading it(coughing, sneezing) if you’re not sick don’t use one it’s unnecessary, just don’t touch you’re face(ur eyes mostly) and wash you’re hands

    • @meganepelletier853

      @@Bino983 lilperk That underlines the importance of community effort. Obviously if there is a shortage in your area, it is best to avoid public spaces and leave masks to those working in essential services. However, if you have access to masks (ie: government mediated distribution, no shortage), do wear them and handle them properly. Surgical masks don't offer much protection from the wearer, but they do limit the spread of droplets to other people. Considering people can be asymptomatic for several days, they will probably have infected several people before they realise they are sick and start wearing a mask. However, if everyone assumes they are potentially infected and wears a mask not to protect themselves but to protect others, then the whole community gains protection through some sort of "umbrella effect". Every infected droplet that is stopped by a face mask and doesn't end up on surfaces or in the air is a droplet that won't go on to affect other people. Although it's hard to confirm and quantify the impact that mask wear has on limiting the spread, countries such as Taiwan and Singapore have had a lot of success with containing the virus with seemingly few measures compared to other countries, one being widespread mask wear.
      The problem is that people render facemasks ineffective against the virus based on the assumption they are made to protect the wearer. They are effective at doing what they're intended to do, which is containing the wearer's droplets, unlike respirators (such as N95, N99, P95, P100 and so on), which filter out small particules to protect the wearer.

    The reason we got a late start is because China lied to WHO and said as of late Jan that COVID19 was not transferrable human to human. Taiwan tried to tell WHO in December that they found out it WAS transferrable human to human but WHO could not acknowledge their contribution because China pressures them to not recognize Taiwan as an independent entity. So Taiwan took their own knowledge and acted. I am happy for them protecting their citizens and I hope their contributions will be recognized by the international community more.

    According to NHCCs briefing today(3/25), the total infected patients in Taiwan are 235, includes 2 death and 28 cured. The rate seems to rise a bit rapid in the past few days, but only 38 out of 235 were infected inside Taiwan, and the majority (197) were imported cases. Which is a sign of we're not yet starting the infection within community. I believe our government is really doing whatever it takes to protect the country, and it works. I'd follow their suggestions whole-heartedly.
    Also we understand that we could not get over this by ourselves, unless we are going to ban ourselves from the world like DPRK...... which is never an option. So we started prepare early, by keeping ourselves settled, should give us more strength to help others. The situation is still not good, but by comparison, people here are doing okay right now, hope we can reach out to many more needed.
    But first, friends on the internet, keep it up, listen to the experts, they know virus better than we do.
    1. Wash your hands with soap as frequent as possible. It's a must do before eating.
    2. Wear a face mask, if you don't have one, make one from cloth. This won't stop the virus, but it will stop you from touching the face subconsciously.
    3. Don't meet up/dine with your family and friends. Virus loves parties.
    Now everyone is a part of this, if you're not safe, then your family is not safe, and then your neighbours, your colleagues, many more people will be in danger, too. Also you are putting a huge pressure on your own medical pesonnels, by not protecting yourself properly. They are the major force in this fight, keeping them save and operational is the only way to win this.
    And please understand this is not a flu, folks. You will evantually recover from a flu, but this virus EATS out your lung. IT WILL NOT RECOVER TOTALLY. Please don't try to get the stupid antibody, you will either die before that or pay out huge. If you get infected, and it unfortunately gets really bad, this will make you winded worse than you're in your 80s, just by walking to your front door(Google Lung fibrosis). You don't want that happens in your 20s. Don't ever get infected.
    The medicals around the world are now fighting for us, please support them by keeping you and your family safe.
    Stay home, remain cautious, keep information updated, we will overcome this together.

      I am a Hungarian living in the UK and you're absolutely right. The West is too liberal for people to have discipline and to understand that they also have duties not just rights.
      They've been delaying the response to this epidemic. In Central -Eastern Europe governments have been taking this way more seriously from day one and it seems to me that the general population are much more disciplined there. I am stuck in London, I have my job, my life here. If I didn't have to go to work (safety critical), I would've left this shitshow already and went home to remote Hungary to my parents. It's too late now, let's see what "crazy hair day Boris" will say today at 5 pm....

    That’s the thing, Americans love their freedom, they love their rights, autonomy, independence, and there’s always this sense of Me, myself, and I
    That’s why we can’t do the things other governments are doing, if we were to do that the US would be in a riot, we don’t like being told what to do even if if the right thing we always have it out for our govt because we are well aware they do things for their own benefit and the bourgeoisie and do things behind our backs while trying to seem benevolent when they’re really in it for the profit
    Honestly props to Taiwan for being so smart and their people for having a sense of community and putting aside their differences and fears and having a leveled head on their shoulders

      This trait has been observed since the 18th century. Americans respect one thing and one thing only: money. They've also got such a strong sense of self that, while making them dynamic and hardy brave characters, unfortunately also makes them completely averse to give expert advice to because they refuse to subject themselves to any kind of authority--including an authority of knowledge. In fact, they take special glee in "taking people down a peg" and cutting down those they feel have gotten "too big for their breeches".

      No. Youre just unaware, like most, that Trump did a proclamation two months ago banning travel from China and putting together a task force.
      The Dems called him anti Immigrant and CNN called him a racist for it. We know now he was just way ahead of them.
      If Trump hadn't done that, thousands would have traveled here from China and it would be far far worse.
      Stop listening to these b.s. liars like Know This.
      We are doing great, look at the numbers. 10,000 infected and were in total lockdown.
      To give contrast, 10 years ago the swine flu infected SIXTY MILLION Americans. Different president. No hostile media and idiots challenging his every move. Not half the panic. No massive stock dive. So yes, we have every reason to believe the anti Trump media thats been doing this b.s. to Trump for three years is largely at fault for the panic and trillions lost in stock market.
