Just the kind of repair i enjoy. I started repairing fog horn boards that come from oil & gas platforms in the gulf of mexico. I see a ton of corrosion even with all the conform. I work offshore as well servicing the horns (board swapping)
I got some water in my Rockford Fosgate t series amp while cleaning. Radio was off at the time but when I went to drive off it didn't have sound output and the protect light was on. I'm drying it now. Do you think it will work after drying? Would hate to be out damn near 500 dollars
No idea how I got here. Much less to see you cracking open an amp that I have not seen since I was in my late teens early 20's. Now I have to watch them all to see how it plays out.
Shain Andrews If you get water into a car amplifier it will fry it and cause it to malfunction plus it can cause a fire too if it gets wet while it's on never use car amplifiers as marine car amplifiers because car amplifiers are not water resistant and if water gets in your boat then it will fry on you and possibly catch your boat on fire
Make sure your wife/girlfriend isn't home and put that circuit board into the dishwasher. Don't forget to run the dishwasher empty for like 2-3 times afterwards (just to be safe). Should work like a treat.

I looked to my left and she was standing there and as I looked at her she said don't even think about it. Step away from "MY" dishwasher!!! lol
What a thing same thing happened to my camaro water leaked into the trunk and damaged my amplifier I managed to fix it the first time by just playing with it but now not to sure !! Lol

This is why you shouldn't mount your car amplifier under the seats in a car because people who ride in your car can spill drinks and when they spill drinks your car the liquids from the drinks being spilled will destroy your car amplifier and cause it to malfunction also why would you mount under neath a trunk because mounting it under neath the trunk or on the surface of any vehicle can leave it exposed to liquids such as water from snow melting on the car and from water getting into your car from driving through a car wash technically if you have car amplifiers installed in your vehicle avoid the car wash at all cost and wash your vehicle by hand instead because if you go through a car wash water can sometimes get into the car and possibly ruin your car amplifier so guys if you mount your car amplifier in your car mount it onto a amp rack and mount it to the back of the back passenger seats and never mount it to the back of the front seats or the middle seats because the middle seats and the front seats can get wet sometimes and never trust car audio shops to do it for you because some people at car audio shops have screwed up before and mounted car amplifiers in places where car amplifiers should not be mounted like I've seen people at car audio shops mount a car amplifier to a subwoofer box and the amplifier would slowly start to malfunction due to the vibration from the subwoofer box so your better off installing car amplifiers by yourself and I remember a car audio shop ruined exocontralto's girlfriends sound system because Exocontralto put a video up talking about it too
I'd like to say that that amplifier probably won't last long at all because you just did something that the manufacturer doesn't recommend and that was soaking the amplifier board in water and cleaning it and water even if it's pure clean water or distilled water it will cause the amplifier board to oxidize and turn brown and eventually eat away at the circuit board man I would just chuck that amplifier if I were you and get a new car amplifier
I think the damage was already done with rain water for 4 months. It's still working over a year later. Why get a new one. The manufacturer doesn't recommend a lot of things, like repairs. They want you to buy new. That is the new mentality of millennials. There is so much E waste in this world, If someone took five minutes to try to fix something there would be millions of unnecessary purchases.

Thats crazy, my dad had/has the same MTX 250X amp. Its actually in my room right now. He used to to power 2 8ohm 10 inch kicker comps.

Hello my cooler leaked water on both my amps when i driving home and both amps now stay in protection mode .Can they be saved ?

Mosfets most likely are bad.
I would think that vinegar would be good to displace the rust, before the alcohol.
