buying submarines is short term, what i'm really looking forward to is being able to build our own submarines. i remember when subic base used to build destroyers and patrol ships when i was a kid and i really wanna see that again, if the philippines can become a country that can build its own navy then it would be amazing for national defense and also trade with our ASEAN partners. the US would also get a much needed support in safeguarding the southeast asian trade routes.

In Southeast Asia, it is important for military alliances to be strong because there is a common enemy in the form of a monstrous threat to the Pacific nations. For example, in the Philippines, it should have a strong military despite having a seemingly good economy, but the military is not being given enough budget.

Scorpene could possibly cost up to 500 million USD. PN has a measly budget of 600 million USD and 90% of the budget alone covers personnel and operating expenses? How will the remaining 10% fit (60 million USD) in for even 1 submarine purchase? And mind you, this will not only be the modernization plan like procuring new ships/aircrafts. Maybe 20 years from now hopefully.

greetings to the philippines, I hope these tangible results can open Pinoy's eyes so as not to be arrogant. Even though Pinoy has started carrying out its military program, it is still lagging behind Indonesia and Vietnam. and Vietnam has 8 submarines while Indonesia only has 4 submarines However, Indonesia also purchased the more advanced French Scorpen submarines from the Philippines and received technology transfers from France. and Indonesia has also built its own submarines with private shipyards. but Vietnam currently owns the most submarines in Asean

    • @beastmood6635
      @beastmood6635 ปีที่แล้ว +3

What arrogant? They are just defending their country because many from other countries in asean are insulting and mocking them. Especially vietnamese and indonesian attacking filipinos by saying insult words. Even vietnamese and indonesia and other countries in asean are arrogant too. Now that philippines are modernising and improving their country I'm sure they can beat any of their neighbours. Even vietnam and indonesia have modern equipment for navy they don't have enough advance equipment that they have. Vietnam have many submarines in asean but still they are not powerful when it comes to navy equipment. Many countries in asean are still left behind in terms of navy equipment not just the philippines.

Just try FILIPINO MILITARY👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻 your military has no experience… USA, AUSTRALIA, JAPAN, SOUTH KOREA , always want to TRAINING IN THE PHILIPPINES EVERY YEAR because they know the capability of PHILIPPINE MILITARY.. give PHILIPPINE ARMY ENOUGH ENOUGH EQUIPMENT and you cannot bully my NATION.. wait for more 5 years when PHILIPPINES continue buying enough military equipment👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻

Philippines Procures Two More LPD From Indonesia’s PT PAL
Indonesian shipbuilder PT PAL signed a contract with the Philippine Department of Defence on June 24, 2022, to build two Landing Platform Dock (LPD) for the Philippine Navy.
The signing ceremony took place in Manila at the Philippine Department of National Defense with representatives of the State-owned shipbuilder. PT PAL Indonesia is exporting its Landing Platform Dock (LPD) to the Philippines for the second time: The Philippine Navy is already operating two Tarlac-class ships. Tarlac (LD-601) was commissioned in June 2016 and Davao del Sur (LD-602) was commissioned in May 2017).
“We, the management of PT PAL Indonesia, are proud to be able to contribute to national defense in ASEAN. At the same time, we appreciate the trust of the Philippine government, which has chosen PAL for the second time as a defense equipment provider for the maritime domain.
PT PAL’s defense procurement capabilities and capacities are now increasingly entrusted to the global market. This is inextricably linked to the role of the Indonesian government, which has placed its trust and support in PT PAL. PT PAL is one step in Defend ID ‘s journey to become one of the world’s 50 largest defense companies.”
Willgo Zainar, CMO of PT PAL Indonesia
The ship will be built at the PT PAL shipyard in Surabaya. They will be 123 meters long with a standard displacement of 7,200 tons, and have a cruising endurance of 30 days. According to PT PAL, the design will feature some alterations compared to the in-service Tarlac-class ships. The LPD will be capable to sail up in waters up to sea state 6, as well as operating ship facilities at sea state 4.

Here's what i've heard from the Naval Group of France. They said it will take at least 5 years to build it, and another year for sea trials, and technical assessment, if passed for quality , then it it will be delivered to the end user which is the Phil. Navy, so.. If we acquire it now(2023), then will receive our first delivery exactly at year 2029/2030, while conducting intensive training to operate and maintain the Scorpene class Attack Submarine.due to 5 year building, and another year for tech. Assessment and Sea Trials. Before delivery.

You can add Indonesia in the list of the Scorpenes submarines countries. Indonesia already choose France Naval Group Scorpenes submarines.
India has said recently in July, they're going to order more Scorpenes submarines to France, as well as more Dassault Rafale fighter jets for their Navy and new aircraft carrier.
They're also signing for a partnerships programs, to develop more advanced weapons with France.
Philippines would be better to do the same, and to get closer with France. Just depending on the USA is a huge mistake, as it's the US themselves which helped the dictator Marcos to escape and live peacefully in Hawaii.

No need for our own submarine, aside from expensive and corruption of the maintenance. Having a permanent US bases in the country is very good enough for the country's national security from foreign threats , aside of having an extra income from the rental fee of the US bases. Japan, though a wealthy nation have US bases for the same purpose. Yet still they maintain their own military defense force.
