Luna tia completely agree. There are many talented K-pop artists, but not everyone is made to be a soloist. For this generation, I think she is definitely one of the most outstanding soloist in the industry.

She might seem like the average k-pop soloist to anyone in the kpop community but to me, I can see the hard work and the passion through the screen, she’s got that emotional string that I feel like a lot of idols need to learn from. She’s far from average in my eyes and she deserves all the praises she gets.
Her company and her crews like stylist, make up artist, music producer are really doing stellar jobs as well that complete chungha to another level. Id say shes both lucky and very skilled. Kind of like Ariana Grande where the song/performance and overall concept match perfectly with the singer.

I'm impressed with how powerful this dance is. It's obviously feminine, but not effeminate. It's strong, but not masculine. It demands the attention without strong-arming you into anything. And it naturally focuses you on CHUNG HA rather than any of the other dancers, who form the background of the dance. They're the mandala, and she is the Buddha at the center. It's artistic, beautiful, and really well thought out. I can only imagine how much time and hard work went into creating it.
I personally think that CHUNG HA herself is feminine yet not effeminate, and she shows that strength doesn't always have to be manly. And I guess that the ones who show who they are by their music or performances are not only just singers or performers, but artists.

Effeminate means a male having feminine characteristics. So the dance is feminine when someone who identifies as a woman does it, and effeminate when someone who identifies as a man does it. Effeminate isn't the next level up from feminine, it just means someone who is not a woman being/appearing feminine. Prefix ef- means 'like', femina means female, and suffix -ate means 'the appearance or characteristics of'.

really really happy that her choreography for this comeback was catering the dance genre of Waacking (her genre of dancing even before) and vogue. it was really evident. I was really shookt by how they were able include the "dip" move and give it a twist to be able to match the attack of the song. This made me really appreciate chungha more. she really does give back a lot and does not forget her roots in dancing. She gives credit and exposure to the dancers who taught and helped her along the way. Kudos to the choreographer, he/she really did a great job. Thank you chungha and dancers for giving justice to this dance genre.

Rian really did a great job for this comeback. kudos to her! hope that choreographers of pieces like this or even like other choreographers for other groups should be credited at the end of the video, even if it's just a 2-second exposure of their name in their dance practice video. It will actually make a whole lot of difference. Not only will they be able to expose their craft but as well make name for themselves even outside the dance community. This will help them with their livelihood as well since this is their work. I'm a dancer myself so I know how hard it is to earn money in the field of performing arts unless you're well known and have connections. I know that Chungha knows how difficult it is to be a dancer and she experienced it first hand that is why she really takes good care of them and give importance to their craft. even I was touched and grateful when I heard that she took her dancer friends as her backup for years now. Korea should actually make more shows like "Hit The Stage" which Chungha participated in before, It highlighted and gave spotlight not only for the artist but the dancers and the choreographers. I as a dancer was really grateful for shows like that because it showed how dancing is not just "dancing".

I don't believe she had bad intentions, especially in her time where she didn't have much freedom to credit the creators of it. If you read statements from people in the community that created voguing, their opinions are quite negative against madonna. I still think that overall representation in mainstream media was what she was able to do during her time period with a positive effects including representation, and pushing boundaries during her time. Charli xcx is a great example of supporting genderfluid and lgbt artist. Korea on the other hand is in a different social climate than america and I geniunely think it's a positive thing for artists to be representing gay culture, especially since they are extremely ridiculed in media. Luckily with all the new support it's become more normalized. Even SM's seulgi and irene's new video is very LGBT, and they delayed it most likely to edit the video so it was less sexual (just a personal thought, since most scenes between them seem to be cut very short.) Overall, I think Korea is making a very big difference in excepting lgbt content with all the new artist supporting and pushing boundaries as much as they can. I don't follow kpop too much, but from what I've seen mamamoo definitely helped normalize it. I'm really proud in the social awareness and progress korea have been making, since older generations would be completely ostracized for these types of videos unfortunately.

Maybe I'm being too positive but I think she is low key supporting lgbt community. Welp, other singers have even included drag queens in their videoclips, so I think maybe Korea is becoming more aware of lgbt culture. Edit: Also let's not forget there is a DEATH DROP included. Madonna hasn't done that either. For me it's clearly inspired in gay culture.

idk about everyone else but when i watch this piece, i don’t feel like it’s a “ choreography for idols “ but rather a choreography for a dance performance... if that makes sense. it’s not simple and it’s super detailed and requires a lot of skill. plus the sheer size of the group is insane + being able to pull of such visually appealing formations in an idol performance... masterpiece me thinks
Hey, street dance student here! I totally agree with you. My first impression of this choreography is that it is totally reminescent of competition pieces I've seen performed by dance crews... It's an amazing example of vogue performance, and at KPop, at that. It's simply amazing.
for those who don't know the choreography was done by Rian and Ran and they showed the choreography to Chungha and Chungha made changes to the choreography. Chungha suggested to change the dance break in the choreography.

장담할 수 있어 청하 2020년 곡들 스테이투나잇, 플레이, 드림오브유는 몇 년 후에 크게 재조명될것같음.. 청하 진짜 독보적으로 새로운 시도 엄청 많이 하고 전부 압도적으로 소화해서 정말 좋은 의미로 시대를 뛰어넘었어... 솔직히 2020년 곡들은 이전 케이팝향기 물씬 나는 롤러코스터, 벌써 12시에 비해 히트는 많이 못 쳤지만 이렇게 새로운 시도를 많이 주었다는 거 자체에 크게 의의가 있고 나중에 충분히 아주 크게 다시 주목을 받을 수 있다고 봄 청하같은 가수가 정말 앞으로도 더 있을까 싶다 단순히 춤 잘 추고, 노래 잘 하는 게 끝이 아니라 자신의 능력을 최대치로 끌어 올리면서 항상 새로운 시도를 하는 청하가 너무 멋있어 정말 유일무이해 청하는 제 2의 누구도 아니고 앞으로도 제 n의 청하는 없을듯 청하의 새로운 도전이 케이팝 장르에 큰 변화와 충격을 줬다고 해도 과언이 아닐 정도.. 청하가 어떤 곡을 내든 어떤 시도를 하든 나는 청하의 도전을 언제나 응원해💚💙💜
Imma just come out and say this. I’m a general fan of Chungha, but I’ve been a fan of Kpop for 10 years now. This may be one if the best choreographies I’ve ever seen in the genre. Definitely the best I’ve seen for a soloist, which is saying a lot. I’m so glad this showed up as an ad on another video I was watching, or I may have missed it completely!
I love that one of her dancers choreographed this song with another dancer who specializes in vogue. So a lot of detail and care was put into this dance. Which we can clearly see with all the precise hand movements and the musicality of the dance itself.
이제는 대중음악..그것도 댄스곡을 그냥 예술의 경지로 승천시켜버렸네. 이건 뮤지컬도아니고 현대무용도아니고 그렇다고 그냥 흔한 아이돌댄스곡도 아니야.. 모든게 믹스된 또 다른 하나의 장르. 청하가 지향하는 음악이,춤이, 무대가 어떤 것인지 드디어 완성되어간다. 이 영상 한번으로 느껴버렸다. 프듀에서 아이오아이로 데뷔하기를 간절히 바라던 어렸던 소녀는 그냥 춤 잘추는 아이돌 가수가 되고싶었던게 아니라 몸으로 예술을 하고싶었던 친구였구나... 댄스라는 예술을. 어쩐지 바라보는 목표가 이상향이 달랐으니 청하가 유독 남달랐을 수 밖에 없었네. 훨씬 먼 곳을 바라보고 있었으니 떡잎어린 군계일학이었다. 청하가 빚어낸 예술. 그것도 나 혼자 돋보이는게 아닌 무대 자체, 나와 모든 댄서가 어우러져 완전히 하나가되는 그런 예술. 이건 가수 혼자 잘한다고 되는 것도 아니며 메인댄서이자 가수의 춤실력이 부족해서 백업댄서들한테 기댄다고 되는것도 아니며.. 그냥 모두가 퀄업되어있어야만 가능한 경지... 댄서들도 미친듯이 잘추고 가수도 미친듯이 잘추고 그것도 다 다르게 서로 내가 더 잘춘다고 싸우듯 춰선 안되고 하나의 몸체마냥 자연스럽게 어우러져 파도처럼 미끌거려야 가능한 그런 경지. 뭐지. 흔히 학창시절 국문학에서 많이 배우는 물아일체 물심일여 그 경지. 무대와 댄서들과 청하가 하나된 그런 경지... 청하가 댄서고 댄서가 청하다... 그냥 떼서 구분하는게 무의미한거같다. 나는 청하를 보러 왔다 한무리가 빚어낸 예술을 보고간다.
I think no one can do it because we don't look only on the dance but at the face and emotions too. Everything is soooo important so it is just impossible to do something like she or others did. And it is harder when it comes to Chungha

For groups, you don't have to be "on" all the time because the camera isn't on you, so you can do simpler moves and "take a break". Chungha and Sunmi are dancing the WHOLE song. Giving their dancers a dance break also gives them an actual break to catch their breath.
From a dancer's perspective, her control is amazing down to the tip of her fingers. On top of that, her amazing stage presence. She dances so clean and beautifully and unlike any other kpop idol ive seen before. Fascinating!

Please tell me how she's underrated. She's literally THE soloist of the 3rd gen. She's been compares to BOA. People talk about her all the time, she wins awards all the time and has been consistently winning music show awards as of last year. She does multiple OST for Kdrama, Multiple collabs and features, she's won half of the awards she's been nominated for. She has THE BEST POST IOI career out of the entirerty of the first season. Yall really be over-using that damn phrase. She's not underrated in any aspect. Not as a singer or dancer or artist.

Chungha prefers to call them dancers rather than backup dancers! Which is super great of her to push and I totally agree with you. Some companies have their trainees dance for their other artists too
backup dancer isn't something you do as a second choice when you weren't able to become an idol; it's a totally different job, and most idols don't have what it takes to be full time dancers
because Chung ha also a dancer (la chicha) before become an Idol, and she hate terms "Backup Dancer" because they aren't just some backup they're dance artist too.
alot of the dancers are actually very popular on their own, loveran is there and she's known for vouging and lachica is a dance group on its own, both have a big following and is entirely seperated from idols but they usually work together! if you wanna know more about them i suggest watching street woman fighter because its how i found them:)

really really happy that her choreography for this comeback was catering the dance genre of Waacking (her genre of dancing even before) and vogue. it was really evident. I was really shookt by how they were able include the "dip" move and give it a twist to be able to match the attack of the song. This made me really appreciate chungha more. she really does give back a lot and does not forget her roots in dancing. She gives credit and exposure to the dancers who taught and helped her along the way. Kudos to the choreographer, he/she really did a great job. Thank you chungha and dancers for giving justice to this dance genre.
You can see all the choreography behind the scenes on Dancer Rian (one of the choreographer's) channel on youtube! She's also in this video as a dancer :) She also choreographed almost all of Chungha's choreographies so far, minus Rollercoaster I think?
@@teapotlily Yeah, I actually searched for the choreographer after commenting here. Thanks! I saw the original choreography video as well. Rian really did a great job for this comeback. kudos to her! hope that choreographers of pieces like this or even like other choreographers for other groups should be credited at the end of the video, even if it's just a 2-second exposure of their name in their dance practice video. It will actually make a whole lot of difference. Not only will they be able to expose their craft but as well make name for themselves even outside the dance community. This will help them with their livelihood as well since this is their work. I'm a dancer myself so I know how hard it is to earn money in the field of performing arts unless you're well known and have connections. I know that Chungha knows how difficult it is to be a dancer and she experienced it first hand that is why she really takes good care of them and give importance to their craft. even I was touched and grateful when I heard that she took her dancer friends as her backup for years now. Korea should actually make more shows like "Hit The Stage" which Chungha participated in before, It highlighted and gave spotlight not only for the artist but the dancers and the choreographers. I as a dancer was really grateful for shows like that because it showed how dancing is not just "dancing".

아무리 봐도 이 곡의 무대는 역대급이다.

이 안무 볼 때마다 느끼는데 남댄분들은 부드러움에서 나오는 우아함이 느껴지고 여댄분들은 같은 부드러움인데 절도와 파워가 더 느껴지고 갓청하는 그냥 미쳤어 본새나요 분명 배경도 그냥 안무실이고 모두 검정색으로 맞추고 갓청하도 흰색으로 맞췄는데 왜이리 컬러풀하고 반짝반짝 빛나는 느낌이 매번 드는지 신기할세..

For the people who is calling them hand dance they are right. It's voguing and it's part of gay culture. Love that this is included. Not only that, the way she struts is also gay culture - inspired and I'm loving it.

I mean she's doing the same thing madonna and lady gaga did by using gay culture in their music, whether that's to uplift the community or profit off them who knows, a lot of people love them for it.

I don't believe she had bad intentions, especially in her time where she didn't have much freedom to credit the creators of it. Especially since the aids crisis was going on and many other things, while she capitalized off of it while many LGBT peoples where suffering and in poverty. If you read statements from people in the community that created voguing, their opinions are quite negative against madonna.
I still think that overall representation in mainstream media was what she was able to do during her time period with a positive effects including representation, and pushing boundaries during her time.
Charli xcx is a great example of supporting genderfluid and lgbt artist.
Korea on the other hand is in a different social climate than america and I geniunely think it's a positive thing for artists to be representing gay culture, especially since they are extremely ridiculed in media. Luckily with all the new support it's become more normalized.
Even SM's seulgi and irene's new video is very LGBT, and they delayed it most likely to edit the video so it was less sexual (just a personal thought, since most scenes between them seem to be cut very short.)
Overall, I think Korea is making a very big difference in excepting lgbt content with all the new artist supporting and pushing boundaries as much as they can.
I don't follow kpop too much, but from what I've seen mamamoo definitely helped normalize it.
I'm really proud in the social awareness and progress korea have been making, since older generations would be completely ostracized for these types of videos unfortunately.
I don't think she did it for Madonna, tbh. Her voguing was different. Here Chung ha's dancers are squatting while voguing. Maybe I'm being too positive but I think she is low key supporting lgbt community. Welp, other singers have even included drag queens in their videoclips, so I think maybe Korea is becoming more aware of lgbt culture.
Edit: Also let's not forget there is a DEATH DROP included. Madonna hasn't done that either. For me it's clearly inspired in gay culture.

idk about everyone else but when i watch this piece, i don’t feel like it’s a “ choreography for idols “ but rather a choreography for a dance performance... if that makes sense. it’s not simple and it’s super detailed and requires a lot of skill. plus the sheer size of the group is insane + being able to pull of such visually appealing formations in an idol performance... masterpiece me thinks

Imma just come out and say this. I’m a general fan of Chungha, but I’ve been a fan of Kpop for 10 years now. This may be one if the best choreographies I’ve ever seen in the genre. Definitely the best I’ve seen for a soloist, which is saying a lot. I’m so glad this showed up as an ad on another video I was watching, or I may have missed it completely!

이제는 대중음악..그것도 댄스곡을 그냥 예술의 경지로 승천시켜버렸네. 이건 뮤지컬도아니고 현대무용도아니고 그렇다고 그냥 흔한 아이돌댄스곡도 아니야.. 모든게 믹스된 또 다른 하나의 장르. 청하가 지향하는 음악이,춤이, 무대가 어떤 것인지 드디어 완성되어간다. 이 영상 한번으로 느껴버렸다. 프듀에서 아이오아이로 데뷔하기를 간절히 바라던 어렸던 소녀는 그냥 춤 잘추는 아이돌 가수가 되고싶었던게 아니라 몸으로 예술을 하고싶었던 친구였구나... 댄스라는 예술을. 어쩐지 바라보는 목표가 이상향이 달랐으니 청하가 유독 남달랐을 수 밖에 없었네. 훨씬 먼 곳을 바라보고 있었으니 떡잎어린 군계일학이었다. 청하가 빚어낸 예술. 그것도 나 혼자 돋보이는게 아닌 무대 자체, 나와 모든 댄서가 어우러져 완전히 하나가되는 그런 예술. 이건 가수 혼자 잘한다고 되는 것도 아니며 메인댄서이자 가수의 춤실력이 부족해서 백업댄서들한테 기댄다고 되는것도 아니며.. 그냥 모두가 퀄업되어있어야만 가능한 경지... 댄서들도 미친듯이 잘추고 가수도 미친듯이 잘추고 그것도 다 다르게 서로 내가 더 잘춘다고 싸우듯 춰선 안되고 하나의 몸체마냥 자연스럽게 어우러져 파도처럼 미끌거려야 가능한 그런 경지. 뭐지. 흔히 학창시절 국문학에서 많이 배우는 물아일체 물심일여 그 경지. 무대와 댄서들과 청하가 하나된 그런 경지... 청하가 댄서고 댄서가 청하다... 그냥 떼서 구분하는게 무의미한거같다. 나는 청하를 보러 왔다 한무리가 빚어낸 예술을 보고간다.

I think no one can do it because we don't look only on the dance but at the face and emotions too. Everything is soooo important so it is just impossible to do something like she or others did. And it is harder when it comes to Chungha

@@alyssagreen9822 I think it's because they are dancing solo. They need a break. For groups, you don't have to be "on" all the time because the camera isn't on you, so you can do simpler moves and "take a break". Chungha and Sunmi are dancing the WHOLE song. Giving their dancers a dance break also gives them an actual break to catch their breath.
Because she treats them as artists as well, without them, the choreographies of her songs won't feel the same way.
I know artist like her and Hyuna respect the backup dancers

From a dancer's perspective, her control is amazing down to the tip of her fingers. On top of that, her amazing stage presence. She dances so clean and beautifully and unlike any other kpop idol ive seen before. Fascinating!

Please tell me how she's underrated. She's literally THE soloist of the 3rd gen. She's been compares to BOA. People talk about her all the time, she wins awards all the time and has been consistently winning music show awards as of last year. She does multiple OST for Kdrama, Multiple collabs and features, she's won half of the awards she's been nominated for.

honestly been thinking a lot of idols who haven't made it and decided to be a backup dancer instead because there's a lot of backup dancers that's gorgeous af. like you can see some backup dancers who you can't take your eyes off sometimes.
Chungha prefers to call them dancers rather than backup dancers! Which is super great of her to push and I totally agree with you. Some companies have their trainees dance for their other artists too
Chungha hates backup dancers, I think it would be better to just call them dancers
backup dancer isn't something you do as a second choice when you weren't able to become an idol; it's a totally different job, and most idols don't have what it takes to be full time dancers
because Chung ha also a dancer (la chicha) before become an Idol, and she hate terms "Backup Dancer" because they aren't just some backup they're dance artist too.
alot of the dancers are actually very popular on their own, loveran is there and she's known for vouging and lachica is a dance group on its own, both have a big following and is entirely seperated from idols but they usually work together! if you wanna know more about them i suggest watching street woman fighter because its how i found them:)

청하는 춤과 본인 모두 돋보이게 할 수 있는 사람이라 멋있는 것 같음
무엇보다도 곡의 주인인 청하의 능력이 곡을 완성하는데에 요구되는건 분명한 사실인데 청하의 움직임 하나하나 각각이 전부 산뜻하고 우아하면서 힘있고 중요하다. 그냥 그게 청하다움인 것 같다 동시대뿐만 아니라 이전시대나 케이팝이 아닌 다른 분야까지 합쳐도 이만한 예술적 경지는 손에 꼽지 않을까...
메인가수만 보는 것이 아니구 댄서까지 보이는 안무는 처음인거 같다..가수와 댄서들이 너무 조화가 잘 되는듯...^^
