    Love the old tobacco barns. We're getting dangerously close to not having any of those old stick barns left here in NC. All of the ones within five miles of my place are gone and the ones still left farther out are getting to be pretty fragile.

    Hi Josh,
    Bought a MF 135 yesterday, delivery Tuesday. Three cylinder Perkins diesel.
    Been looking for years, can't believe I actually found one and only 30 minutes from the farm. In West Wales we tend to be too far from everywhere so really lucky.
    Looking forward to watching your videos of the 65 as much in common with ours, now christened Meg.
    Prices over here way higher than U.S. Was also offered a choice of 2 x 65's , 1 x 35 or TE 20, all over $3500 each.
    Love the channel.
    Lloyd.

    My brother and l owned one of these Massey tractors and it was a good one but be aware they have wet type sleeves and if your oil level starts to increase they maybe leaking . Ours did and we didn't notice it and the water in the oil cause us to spin a main bearing. We were to old to mess with it and my brother sold it for 100 dollars. Wow didn't know it was worth that much. Enjoyed the video good luck with your tractor.

    Interesting to see the choice to buy another project. I guess personally, I would have kept the MF 135 and let this one keep sitting. Locked wheel could be a gear with a chunk of something lodged and some pressure to slide encouraged it loose...for now. Unless it was the brake, I would anticipate a future lock-up until you find and solve the real cause.
    Not to sound negative, your jumping project to project and not really finishing them, well I lose interest. I like to see the finished product completed and ready to go.

    • @42lookc
      @42lookc 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brakes lock up sitting. Quite often pulling them backwards will free them, as in this instance with the tilt putting backwards pressure on it.

    • @killersugar6816
      @killersugar6816 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@42lookc nope, it was the wheel bearing that disintegrated and destroyed two of the planetary gears. See his update videos doing the repair. Brian Worley was spot on. It was a pretty serious repair, but probably still well worth the $1000 price for the beefy HP, live PTO, and power steering - all pretty nice upgrades for a tractor of that era.

    I drove one as a kid, aged roughly 9 to 13 in the early sixties. We used it for ploughing (3 furrow) and discing on the 3 point hitch. As well, we baled with it, hay and straw. I don't recall any particular issues with it but it was new at the time. Sad to see it go when we moved off the farm.

    1st off, Great find for you! Glad rear brake let loose. New tires on front makes it steer like a new one!!! Don't overweight the 3 point, might overturn! If motor is stuck, pull plugs, insert diesel fuel or spray Knocker Loose in each piston, let sit 2-3 days, spray again, put in 2nd gear and rock rear wheels! Should break loose, only 2 years of sitting! If not, tear into it, top down! Good luck Farm Buddy!

    My grandpa has a 35 I believe, I have been restoring it but it has clutch problems and it is a dual clutch meaning it has 2 clutch disks instead of one, you push the clutch half way down, the tractor stops but the pto still spins, push it all the way down and everything stops. I also have a ford 3400 utility diesel tractor with a 730 loader and man when I first started it up it ran away and the clutch was oil soaked so it was stuck, and when I did some maintenance I couldn't believe my eyes, it was just soaked in a mixture of diesel, oil, and antifreeze. It also had about 3 inches worth of just sludge and old oil on the front of the engine. Right now I am restoring it so I hope it goes well.

    $1000 ?????? I don't know Josh. Tires look dry rotted and seem to be holding air, but no tread left on the rears. That'll set you back maybe 700 per tire. One thing about those Masseys, be careful how fast you do the shifting. They're notorious for the linkage jumping out. Then you have to remove the top plate and set it back. Hope it works out!! Had one of the older diesels growing up. Smart little tractors to have.
