No, it would not. Lvl 27 resist fire is 31 mastery and the mercs conviction is 34, 65 total. Lvl 27 conviction is 64, so you're doing basically the same amount of personal dps, but you lose holy freeze, your merc does less dps because doom > infinity, and any monster that had between 117 and 131 fire res is now unkillable whereas you used to break their immunity (bastion keep demon sprites, arreat battlefied charger zombies, and sewers fetishes are a few examples of monsters that fall into this category). Edit: we're still going to max resist fire either way as it's a holy fire synergy.

I think i did not understand how it works at first but i tried it in pluggy and after maxing resist fire, and the other 2 synergies, conviction on merc ...max i get is 11k dmg...is it nerfed or should my numbers be higher? I'm using bis gear, full skillers etc
I did a “dragondin-esque” build on a necro where I used my fire golems fire aura with trangs, ghost flame with facets, and summon gc and got to about 4.4k aura pulse dmg and 4.7k per attack for each golem (not including lower resist). I have to say imo it’s the fastest map clearer on a budget as well as being safe and lazy. I use Iron Maiden as well for some physical dmg for stuff like bosses with lower resist
What’s even more interesting is that you can snapshot summon the fire golems and switch items so you have summon necro level fire golems but can switch to bone or CE gear
Another interesting thing is that I’ve found that fanaticism really boosts their damage by giving at and faster attacks. Also a really good combo with them is thorns/Iron Maiden/return damage stuff since it provides a source of physical damage so you don’t get too pigeonholed into 1 type of dmg. The phys fire damage works well with CE spells and curses (usually use amp and lower res for CE).
res to free up inventory slots for 3% fire skill dmg large charms. 15 all res frees up at least 3 slots if you're using 5 all res SCs, but those are very expensive so more like 5-8 slots. You stack as much res on the gear so you can use every inventory slot for fire skill dmg large charms and credendum is the only belt in the game that has that res.
lol, you should not think about mana on dragondin build m8.. all you need is 1 point to Redemption > than you can change half of your gear with better items adding more dmg or something really useful.

Do your golems get more holy fire damage if you use fire dmg and -res items? And do you break immunes?

Do you think would work with Dual Dreams and light large charms instead? Gonna try it in the upcoming season
yes. very solid and underrated build.
I have a very ghetto version of this but I'm running a Phoenix shield instead for the 28% fire res reduction and whatever else it's got, 35k dps.
thought about dropping your last points into conviction since monster res can now drop below 0?
