    As a “Latino” born in the USA myself, I feel that there’s two worlds you can potentially exist and move in and out of at will. The KEY is to have the language down for both cultures. If You learn the language of any culture, you’ll gain everything else in that culture with time and exposure.
    Don’t believe me; try going to that Latin country of origin without speaking the language and see how Mexican/Dominican/Nicaraguan you really feel, try telling them how
    (your country here) you are. I think you can be a Latino without the language, but only here in the US. I don’t think it’ll fly elsewhere, and if that’s the case then are you just a Latino here at home?
    Ridiculous example but look at it this way, the DMV is handing out 2 kinds of driver licenses - a car license and a truck + car license. If you just have a car license, you can only watch as the other drivers actually drive a truck and you just live the truck lifestyle without actually doing the deed? It’s nothing to be ashamed of, rather something to remind you that both are available to you so that you can call yourself a truck/car driver with confidence in and out of the US 🤷‍♂️

    • @TimberlakeTigerGirl
      @TimberlakeTigerGirl 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Saving Democracy Technically speaking we don't have an official language. The reason English became the dominant language is because of British settlers breeding like rabbits once they got here. But Spanish has always been around, especially down in the southwest. In Louisiana, French was very common back in the day. And certain parts of Louisiana still speak French alongside English (Creole dialect to be precise). Chinese was also common from the amount of Chinese immigrants who built the Pacific railroad lines; entire western towns were exclusively for Chinese immigrants.

    Sometimes we speak English or often, Espanglish. LOL
    Sometimes, when speaking one language, a word or grammar from the other language seeps in. WAY TOO FUNNY!
    Sometimes, I'll accidentally blend the English and Spanish word for something, together.
    Like yesterday, I wanted to say, "I'll take out the garbage" (in English).

      El término "Latino América", y por extensión "Latino" fue creado por Francia como una forma de inmiscuirse en la política las antiguas posesiones españolas y portuguesas y justificar las intervenciones francesas en la zona como el Segundo Imperio Mexicano o el bloqueo anglo-francés del Rio de la Plata. Antes de eso se usaban los términos América Española (Hoy en día Hispano América, que son sólo los piases de habla hispana) o Ibero América (En el que se incluye Brasil). WASHINGTON (AP) - A political shift is beginning to take hold across the U.S. as tens of thousands of suburban swing voters who helped fuel the Democratic Party's gains in recent years are becoming Republicans.
      More than 1 million voters across 43 states have switched to the Republican Party over the last year, according to voter registration data analyzed by The Associated Press. The previously unreported number reflects a phenomenon that is playing out in virtually every region of the country - Democratic and Republican states along with cities and small towns - in the period since President Joe Biden replaced former President Donald Trump.
