I hope your recovery from surgery is going well. I found cataract surgery life changing. Definitely got my eye on a prize as I enter the final years of my life! I want calm security to last me through. This was a lovely reading, and I enjoyed every single nuance of it. How delightful to have owls on one’s street! I’m in a rather interesting part of the city here, and we get plenty of wildlife because we are near a lake and the ocean and some grassy and woodsy areas. Mostly we have a lot of crows in the bird department, but there is the occasional great blue heron (when the fish supply dwindles they come here and grab gophers) and a few varieties of hummingbird. But there was one night in the 24 years I’ve lived here, that an owl came and perched on a nearby tree and comforted us with his calls. I stayed out on my porch from 9:00 PM to nearly 3:00 in the morning reveling in that sound. He only came the one night, and it was magic.
We had a family of Barred owls living in the small forest at the back of our property. They would call to each other some nights. They made many different sounds and calls. Some of the sounds they made were more jungle or even primate sounding. You'd be surprised to hear it was an owl at times. Often they were far off and their sounds would echo all over the neighborhood. And sometimes they would be directly on top of my bedroom, calling on my roof!! It was a hoot having them around. 😅🦉 I even videoed the fledglings tearing apart their prey in broad daylight once. Was amazing!! But the neighborhood is now under "development". 😞 All the wildlife has basically vacated the area, due to so many trees being felled, old houses torn down, and so much noise and construction going on. The deer, coyotes, raccoons, possums, eagles and owls have gotten more scarce around here now. What’s strange is that my owls sound the same. I’ve never heard two owls call to each other with two different sounds. So I’m not quite sure what that means. Yes, I do have my eye on a prize. I’m looking for an affordable non-toxic travel van so I can go back home for several months to look for a place to live (which also must be affordable!). Maybe the first owl is female and slightly hysterical because her male doesn't come home and is still wandering around the houses at night. And the second owl is her guy and responds to the first owl's hysteria with stoic composure. Sorry but I had this picture in my head and had to share it 🤣🤣🤣
I think I have an archetype deck by Kim Krans and the cards are round. You can get a large deck or a smaller deck in a can for traveling. Make sure you get the book though, because the first time I ordered, I got the larger cards with no book and they’re not self-explanatory. So then I ordered the smaller deck which came in a can with a book.
