    Yeah, 2016 Road King and a ‘22 1250 GSA Triple Black. Best of both worlds. Blessed to be able to have a few nice things, hard work pays off. Enjoyed your video.

    Was also thinking of switching from HD Ultra Limited to 1250GS as I am older and would love to shave some weight. I usually do long road trips and was wondering what you thought of the overall wind protection. I do mostly highway riding and don't plan for much off road. Probably spoiled by the faring I think. Test rode a 1300gs and it certainly was a different ride. I found wind and road noise to be quite a bit more than my HD. Thanks for your input!!!!

    • @HowiesAdventures
      @HowiesAdventures  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, you are correct there is quite a bit more wind protection on the H-D. However, I have done some major miles on the highway and found it still comfortable. If I am planning more back roads, I take my BMW as the suspension is far better. If I am planning a mostly highway or freshly paved roads the H-D is 100% the way to go. To make it simple the BMW is the best all-around bike and the H-D is the king of the highway.

    Traded my 2018 heritage for a 2022 r1250 gs a couple of years ago. The BMW dealer made me an offer I couldn't refuse. The only regret I have u that I didn't make this move sooner. At 67 and carrying a few physical impairments, if this gs hadn't come along, I probably would have had to hang up my key fob. It is the most comfortable and well balanced bike I've ever owned. Thank you BMW.

      They really are an incredible bike! I was riding mine today and the thought of how impressed with the engine alone came to mind.

    I agree with you a lot, I have road glide,22 and a 21 BMW GSA1250. The GSA is such a more Quality Built bike with a whole lot more Features,STOCK! I do like both bikes and will keep them for a while. Nice Video...

    The thing is Howie I have driven a GSA for 7 years and planned to rent a Harley for a couple of days and drive on it.
    I still saving a bit to buy a motorcycle next year may... Just started my own business and redecorating my business unit.
    But I am still on a crossroad because I know how good GSA 's drive.
    I drove a testdrive on a SG couple of weeks ago and must say it is also very nice ..a bit more hard work with the SG in the curves.
    I am not in the position to buy both a GSA and SG but if I was I bought them both too :))
    I will let you know what the 2 day test drive on the SG will be gonna do that end of august.
    But you probably know/feel my big question:which one it is gonna be?
    I am going to buy /drive it business wise so that's very tax friendly in Holland ( return on V.A.T) and some other deductibles.

      Yes I totally understand the big question. Here is my take on it. The BMW is a more practical bike it can be used for anything. It's the one bike that does everything well. I love my big Harley and it's really good for the highway riding and big long trips but not as good on the back bumpy roads. Also where I am in the USA we have lots of cold weather and they salt the roads in winter to keep them from freezing. I'll ride the GS on that but not the Harley. I feel like it's okay to get the BMW dirty. It's meant to get dirty haha. With all this being said I still love the big Harley and I don't plan to sell it. Sometimes it's exactly what I want to ride!

      I drove my. adventure for 6 years winter and summer @@HowiesAdventures ..I have no intention to to that anymore .. well in august I ll rent a SG for a long weekend ... as i said i already test drive it but that was for 20 minutes also the road glide i drove .The road glide steering is more easily but i dont like the fairing ..I ll keep you updated about the renting of the SG ... nice vids Howie..
      after a winter drive i always rinsed my bike off cause the salt is a killer..roads in holland are pretty OK and not bumpy.
      I saw the other vid from you where you took the just newly paved road ...man what a great place you live ..really nice.
      when you drive 4 hours to germany you have similar roads like where you live and europe got some real nice routes ..

    I had an 09 Ultra Classic and bought a 14 1200 GSA. I eventually sold the Harley. Now I have a 22 1250 RT. I’ve just been drawn to the way the BMW’s perform and not having to spend thousands on upgrades.

      I was saving for a used 1200 and wasn't even considering a new bike because I have my Street Glide originally. After learning a bit more on the 1250 I decided to go new. To be honest the 1300 didn't even really cross my mind and still doesn't make me wish I waited.

    After four months do you find yourself riding one bike over the other? I have a BMW R1250R and a SGS and love both bikes. The R (with the same engine as the GSA) is great for around town and day rides while the SGS is best for touring and highway riding. I am considering the GSA but feel it is a touring bike just like the SGS. Your thoughts?

    • @HowiesAdventures
      @HowiesAdventures  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Great question that I am still figuring out myself. Touring riding is my favorite style of riding that's why I went with the GSA. I knew I wanted something that could tackle some off-road and the GSA does that very well which I expected however what I didn't expect is just how good of a sport touring bike the GSA is! Yes, you do feel a little bit more air on the GSA vs the StreetGlide but I was extremely shocked at how comfortable and fun the GSA is on long weekend trips. The honeymoon stage is over, and I am riding the StreetGlide again. 4 Months ago, I would have said I should sell the StreetGlide but today I am very happy I didn't. They are two very different bikes that it seems I am riding them about the same now for different things. On paper the BMW is a better bike and I agree but the Harley brings a culture that the BMW does not. My daughters and wife prefer the Harley so enjoying this hobby with them is something special that only the Harley brings. Hope this helps hahaha.
