- This songbird breaks out the sampler to get a mate. And the superb lyrebird doesn't stop at mimicking other bird species - man-made noises just become part of the remix.

It would be nice to hear the bird if there weren't FUCKING BACKGROUND MUSIC
+AIRburst95 I came on here to say exactly that! This seems to be identical to the David Attenborough footage, so try that. At least he knows when to shut up and be silent.
I liked the car alarm
purchase one online :D
BUT BUT, ALL THE AMERICANS WOULD LOSE THEIR FOCUS IF THERE WASNT BACKGROUND MUSIC BUILDING SUSPENSE!!¬!!!!£!£(!£0uq58utg89
Link?
expose them to dubstep
That would be great, i will make one of them to be my pet. XD
This is a truly beautiful comment to find on this video
Or maybe deathstep
I think those poor birbs would have an aneurism.
They start beat boxing.
Why would they use background music in this segment?
Evan Boyar
That's not background music
That's 2nd bird
Oh my god. If only.
JESUS CHRIST is coming repent be ready for the rapture
Joe Christianson what made u say this
Because it's stolen from David Attenborough, can't give him credit now. You find the original footage here on TH-cam
I really wanna see this bird mimic morgan freeman
Deavon Manson You just got the best idea ever, :D
XD
it would be the most calming bird song ever
hed get all the bird ladies..
omg im dying LOL
Fucking Hell, for a video where the sole purpose of which is to show off the Lyrebird's amazing calls there is a lot of background music and stupid over-narration.
Listen to the proper version - the David Attenborough one.
yeah I think the people who actually go out and film these are probably pretty pissed off when they see the final edited result
Seriously, natgeo has gotten so for-kids lately, even though i don't recall ever having been willing to put up with that kind of crap as a kid.
I agree. Music is too loud in movies too. Sometimes you can't even hear the actors.
I agree with you all. I get so sick and tired of all the music in videos and movies. I wouldn't mind if it wasn't so loud.
Would be nice to actually hear the *bird* instead of the dumb background music. SMH
+1justpara absolutely.
+1justpara - agree 100%. The music was jus annoying. Drowned the bird's call.
+1justpara
This is a typical problem with natgeo.
+1justpara I agree 112%! The whole point of the video was supposedly to let us hear the bird.
Exactly!
english version of the film: david attenborough talking in the gaps between the bird, silence throughout
american version of the film: some fucking chad grunting over pop music with bird as an afterthought
@Ryan Roberts shut up
@Ryan Roberts who said I’m not your girlfriend?
*British
I almost inhaled my food when it imitated the camera motor drive lmao
ed do you like chickens?
Spicy Peppers I’m sure he likes butter toast better
The chainsaw call was pretty amazing, and yet really sad.
yes, he was imitating destruction...
+Louise Restall Still kinda cool to know that it can imitate almost any sound right?
Right?
;-;
The car alarm and the camera suggest this bird lives in a zoo.
iguana overlord not necessarily. I'm sure biologists and tourists venture into their territory to take pictures, which would explain the camera and alarm calls
yeah, because there is plenty of car theft in those big parking lots inside the forests.
"A little more romantic"
What's not romantic about a lyrebird imitating a chainsaw to their mate? It brings a tear to my eye..
@Professor Heavy just do you know the video is fake they were just adding sounds to the video to make you think it's a real
As an Australian I can confirm that they make these sounds and I am an eye witness to their skill
He's just watched Texas chainsaw massacre
It's pretty amazing how accurately they can mimic sounds
I'd love to hear one that was raised around a lot of wacky modular synthesizer sounds.
How beautiful are the creations of Almighty Allah. These beauties cannot appear "spontaneously" or "by chance." If there is art in Orat, there is definitely an artist. This artist is Almighty Allah, the Creator of all the worlds. ❤ SubhanAllah. Allahu Kabir.
"And in your own creation, and whatever living beings He dispersed, are signs for people of sure faith." (Holy Quran; 45/4)
It's incredible to hear them in the wild. The only way you know it's a Lyrebird is that too many birds seem to be in one spot. Saw one at a zoo where they were renovating nearby. He could do nail-guns, saws, hammers. A 1-bird crew!

@@motherlandmars5999they don’t appear by chance or spontaneously.
Because of the nature of the bird, the ones who can impress mates through their impressive vocal cords, get bred which over time creates a species capable of this skill.
Why is the music so loud? You can hardly hear the birdsong.
America
Agree they need to tone it down
This is for an American audience.
@@camtinley Are they imbeciles?
Handy hint, if you wish for people to listen to recorded bird song, DON'T have a music sound track playing in the back ground.
Yup, this could be fascinating footage but it's squandered by the editing. Also the cheesy editorializing in the narration.
If you want to see how to actually cover this animal tastefully and informatively, look at Planet Earth with David Attenborough.
Me Auntie Nora Yes it is the same exact video.
stonent
yeah what a pack of assholes. They flogged the footage then fucked it up.
NatGeo used BBC footage (presumably with permission),then added Amurrican production (melodramatic, deep voiced narrator and incessant music).Nature is not interesting enough when presented au naturel.
Lyre bird: Do you love my chainsaw singing ladies?!
I'm a lumberjack, baby
I heard Jackal just signed him.
What do you want?
Albert's Lyrebird who are you asking?
Albert's Lyrebird you wish
Bird wouldn't be able to survive if it mimicked my mixtape.
No one survives listening to it either...lol j/k
Bird would instantly combust
It would because your mixtape is trash
Lmao . Drop the link .
Well, yeah, I doubt a bird could survive its body temperature dropping so low.
The bird mimics police sirens while in the hood. That would be the greatest.
I can't....help
There would be a lot of track stars that day
Don’t forget the trailer park ! Gotta scare them methheads too
@@germanyx5937 Oh God, the buck is breaking
It’s actually the siren of the rural fire service
The bird sounded amazing...too bad you have to strain over the clashing background music in order to hear him.
Thank you Nat Geo by having background music to emphasize the unique abilities of the bird...seriously...
I know. I don’t understand how American nature documentaries continue to get it so wrong. This video of the bird is taken from a David Attenborough segment for BBC Earth and it shatters Nat Geo in quality. It doesn’t need loud noises and constant stimulation to keep your attention. The nature is the true centerpiece.
The narrator is so aggressive as well. He isn’t narrating a scene from some action film. This is a nature doc.

I don't know... It was so much more entertaining with David Attenborough's voice.
Love how the bird almost walks right up to David in his video. XD
No I mean like
this is literally the documentary he shot
re-mastered, and re-dubbed
But this was from BBC. Was kinda looking for credits from David.
The lyrebird IS David Attenborough
If I had one as a pet, I'd play hardcore dubstep for him every day, and then have him as a source of music at parties.
If I had one as a pet, I'd play the audio of a snake hissing so he can protect the forests
Better send invite
Shame the music makes it hard to hear the whole point of the video. C'mon!
Darude - Sandstorm
Mikey Kaskamin no
Mikey Kaskamin here comes the Darude - Shitstorm
That's really amazing how this bird can literally mimic any sound.
plot twist: Camera pans around and it turns out that a lyrebird was narrating the entire time
things birds do to get laid
well is not That differnce as many humans i mean they go bankrupt just to get laid one night :Y
...Well guys do, girls have to spend all their energy on looking pretty.
Just how many liquor bottles are you hiding under your bed??? Your idiotic comment isn't even remotely funny or clever!!!
no but it's creative as fuck, i couldn't create a story like that outta nowhere
poppykok5 the things birds do to get laid
"Stand back, I got a chainsaw!" *holds up songbird*
Would be a good idea to Homer Simpson...
And 7 years later this comment is the best!!!
I want one of these mimicking Morgan Freeman
Necturiel and have the footage narrated by Morgan Freeman.
BUT HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE HOW CAN IT MIMIC ALL THOSE SOUNDS SO GOOD???
That is what I've been looking for. A physical explanation. I saw in another video a starling imitate the sound of multiple children playing. It was like a recording. How is this physically possible?

"And in your own creation, and whatever living beings He dispersed, are signs for people of sure faith." (Holy Quran; 45/4)
The lyrebird's ability to imitate so many different sounds is related to the structure of its vocal apparatus. The lyrebird has a complex anatomical structure that enables it to produce a variety of tones and sounds. Its vocal cords are very flexible and can vibrate quickly, allowing it to produce rapid and complex rhythms.
In addition, the lyrebird has a "singing bank" made up of specially modified feathers. These feathers produce sounds when they rub against each other, similar to a violin or piano. The lyrebird can play these feathers with its wings or tail, producing a variety of tones.
It is believed that the lyrebird's ability to imitate so many different sounds is part of its mating strategy. The lyrebird's complex and diverse repertoire serves to attract and impress females. By imitating a variety of sounds, the lyrebird signals to females that it is healthy and strong, and possesses good genes.
How bizarre would it be to hear a revving chainsaw behind you, turn around, and see this bird making the noise? World's best impressionist, hands down.
Jesus imagine this thing near an A-10 Warthog...
BRRRRRRRTTT
+GunFuMaster It'd probably injure itself trying to match the volumes.
*NO, NEAR DARUDE SANDSTORM!*
Zonrox Bleach where is Clorox Bleach!?
Send it in Iran to scare off those terrorists for the price of nothing lol
What do you mean, a chainsaw isn't romantic? If I were a lady lyrebird, I'd come running the second I heard a male imitating the sounds of deforestation!
Well when is the chainsaw
@@shrekonion83072:20
@@Eman-ud6tg that chainsaw sound was hot i dont know what that guy was talking about
The camera, car alarm and chainsaw were very impressive.
Cameras, cars, chainsaws. It's actually kind of sad. It's a testament to what is happening to their habitats.

***** Well that's a relief then.
here Kitty kitty kitty

+Angreh Kittunz i find your point very true. people are cutting down forests and invading them, and this bird is now mimicking things it shouldn't have heard in the first place, if at all.

*hears dramatic background music instead*
samtherat6 maybe it was the bird mimicking the background music?
that chainsaw bit broke my heart
poor thing singing the demise of his home without knowing it :(
I really wanna know what's going on in this forest..
I CAN'T STOP LAUGHING! OMG "Now he's practically one of the paparazzi." I didn't expect it to be so realistic!
What happens if we put loud dubstep in that forest? Would be cool if he started whistling dubstep
I'd rather just pump Queen into forest.
Why not Metallica ^^
***** Hahahahaha
EDIT: He wrote "Or Pantera" ^^
Imagine if he starts whistling to Razor Sharp

Really heavy drop
SnoopzGamezMC Adriel I've heard some mocking birds actually imitate cell phone rings!:-)
XD that Kookaburra's expression is "wot u say bout my mum I'll rek u m8"
'Maybe he could stick to something more romantic.' Hahaha. Birds rocks.
My friend works at car service station. When he told me that there are birds which mimick car sirens and engine sounds I couldn't believe him, until I saw (and heard) it myself. Birds were just common starlings (sturnus vulgaris) but they were realy good at it. Some people say that they can even mimick human speech.
had a parakeet that imiated four different home-phone ringtones /perfectly/.. oh, nibbler, you were cool, bro..
and it was funny as shit too, cuz i would go 'NIBBIE NIBBIE NIBBIE' and hes do it back, but in a REALLY weird way, like it would come out sounding like me but extremely scratchy
This is BBC footage, but they replaced David Attenboroughs commentary with some new guy. What's the point of that?!
+tosgem It had to be dumb downed for the Americans.
+Will Pack -So crazy got it in one!
By "crazy", Jonn Mero was referring to crazywaffleking, and "to get it in one" is obviously a short reference to understanding something (getting something right) in one go or in one sentence (similar to the hole-in-one of golf).
So, yea, not saying he was right, but it absolutely made sense (and I'm not even English).
+Harl Windwolf -Will Pack sounds like a six-pack missing all the cans!
+Will Pack JFC dude; get a sense of humor!
Way to recycle footage the BBC filmed and then take Attenborough's voice over off, ya hacks.
Must be scary walking in the forest at night and hear "hey you!"
This was originally filmed by BBC....this is literally the same video and script they used years ago...Wtf NatGeo?
Ricky Ray Lol i just made the same comment xD
th-cam.com/video/XjAcyTXRunY/w-d-xo.html
Looks like it was filmed on a potato (even though BBC have the HD footage -_-) but it's a bit more serious and informative
+Erik Victory It's so sad. I'll never understand why a documentary maker would slather a bunch of music, especially "action jungle music", over the top of the unique and interesting sounds that is the focus of the discussion! :-?
and the bbc version has no music either
NatGeo mimicking BBC just like the lyrebird
@@blinkdoge lmao
1:41 you got a chaos emerald!

2:12 A bird alarm. That is pretty funny LOL.
I want to get one of these birds just to annoy the hell out of my neighbors!

Thanks, Ellen. The BBC version is much better.
"Bitches love chainsaws."
everybody gangsta till the bird start speaking chainsaw
It is a sad fact that the bird mimics chainsaws because it was near chainsaws cutting down the forest
"Shake that tail feather for me baby!!" 😂😂😂😂
The music is the background is too loud
yeah wtf
Would be better if it didn't have the background music making it really hard to hear the bird.
+Anna Gump
I wholeheartedly agree with you.
+Anna Gump You didn't hear the bird??? The background music was subtle! I didn't even notice it till I saw the comments! Turn up your volume. The bird sounds are amazing.
+John D Dude, that background music was really loud, and apparently everybody but you agrees about it.
Caitlin O'Brien Why try and single me out? My intention wasn't to disagree with anyone. I am just pointing out that I didn't notice myself. When you say everyone are you talking about the two people above me? Look at how many people liked the video. How would we know how many people were distracted to the point to where they did not enjoy the video? More importantly, who cares how many people feel one way or another?
Caitlin O'Brien ?....
The chainsaw sound is too good to be true... Almost sounds like a joke XD
"Maybe he should try something more romantic" lmao
The chainsaw one is super depressing
you need a hug?
If that's the case, then that's definitely alright with me.
This was filmed by David Attenborough film crew in Sherwood forest Dandenong Victoria Australia. This is a residential area where homes back onto National park lands. So you are not permitted to log in National parks in Australia. This guy could be living near peoples homes, hence the car alarms. Also Park rangers would use chainsaws to tidy up undergrowth to prevent bush fires. At certain times of the year the general public are allowed to collect FALLEN timber for firewood. This guy is Native to Australia and fully protected.
Dorian Gray You are correct. I just didn't want people thinking that Australia goes around logging its National Parks. Humans are a plague on this earth really!
Laura Hughes end the plague.
You should rename this video: BLAH BLAH BLAH + Annoying background music + some quiet moments in which you can actually hear a bird mimicking stuff
I currently have this bird in my backyard!! he keeps making car alarm noises very loudly. my entire neighborhood can hear him. I need my sleep!!!
Proof of an intelligent Creator.
Here comes the Grump Bump.
Sup fellow Grumper.
Have I seen you two from somewhere?
Minigun101 I don't think so. It's possible you've seen me comment on other Grump stuff before, but I haven't made a lot of those lately.
What if Michael Jackson walked by and started to sing? Could the bird also sing like him then?
I'm just imagining me walking into the forest and suddenly hearing "CUZ THIS IS THRILLER!" xD
Yassine Boulfiham
"Warble Warble!~ Caw Caw--Just BEEEEAT IIIIT beat iiiit BEEEEAT IIIIT beat iiiit Nooo one wants to be defeeeeeated--Chirp! Chirp!~ Kee-koo!~"

The Lyrebird is pretty much one of my favourite birds because of its ability to mimic.
- "The Lyrebird can imitate nearly any sound he hears around him in the forest"
*Lyrebird starts making car alarm sound*
- What ?!
And drowned it out with background music.
Genius.
"This bird is more than a snazzy solo, he's a whole glee club!"
"Now he's practically one of the Paparazzi!"
*obnoxious background music*
Ugh, where's Attenborough when you need him.
Okay, good. Now imitate the screams of citizens that were traumatized by the fall of wall Maria.
"This animal is boring. Let's put music over its songs!"
1:40 The narrator missed it, but that was absolutely the smartphone notification sound, with a little flair at the end
Holy CRAP that was fucking amazing
The background music is too loud.
28” long, that’s a lotta extensions!
Bruh that’s the next level mockingbird right there XD
*im sorry I couldn’t help myself*
All aboard the steam train
choo choo
Hey welcome back to Barry train.
Hey Barry, bye Barry. I love you.
this bird is a tattle tale tells all. Vhimsaw noise? Obviously people cutting down trees. Car alarm? people driving and setting off their noise for some unknown reason. Camera noise? People taking way too much pictures
chainsaw*
To be fair, a bird can probably remember the sound of just one camera shot.
iguana overlord that's not a zoo if you actually watched the video
Chantel F the car alarm indicates the bird is in an urban area, the camera suggests that is frequented by both tourists and photographers and the chainsaw suggest landscaping, something very common in zoos. Don't trust the documentary at 100% they sometimes add stuff in order to make it sound more appealing.
iguana overlord lol if you ever been to a zoo you'd know these animals are in closed confined spaces for it's a zoo. There would be a roof ahead of the animal so it would not fly away and so visitors can actually see them and not have to search. Where in the video do you see that. Those trees are tall as like they're grown outside not in. Also positive a car wouldn't actually randomly drive inside a zoo and somehow set off a alarm for the bird to remember and mock it. When you take pictures of animals in a zoo, there's always some wall so the animal can actually attack people. Also postie a zoo doesn't "landscape" with a chainsaw as chainsaws in the wild are used to cut down trees. Why would a zoo want to cut down trees made for the birds...?
truly fascinating, i would like to see the vocal cords on one of those. it has to be impressive
Lol that was the best 2:42 on TH-cam, totally awesome!
Its sad that this bird knows the sound of chainsaws....I wish we could find something with the equivalent of wood to build with for the future...
It's a nature preserve and felling over-abundant areas is important to keep the region healthy.
Amber Slahlize Nicely said!
David Attenborough did it better.
That will always be the case :)
Imagine you lost in a forest and hear a rescue helicopter sound but turns out it is actually a lyre bird.
Imagine walking through the forest and hearing a huge growl and you think it's a bear or smt but it's actually a bird
This video was edited. They cut out the part where the bird did a Christopher Walken impression.
Watch out for the Grump Bump!
you can even hear the tree falling sound when he does the chainsaw lol!
That bird is a natural mimicking machine.
I can't believe this is frickin' real.
"Though he rarely mimics man-made sounds in the wild. Here's a chainsaw felling trees."
That just sounds depressing.
Quick! Let this bird hear the sound effect of goku turning into a super saiyan.
It's honestly incredible how a bird can mimic practically any other sound on the planet
Too bad they had to add crappy music.
The only car in the jungle is getting nicked.
The camera motor drive and chain saw are fantastic. I even had to laugh.
