Ferry to Morocco and First Impressions of Tangier 🇲🇦: FionnOnTheRoad Episode 15

  • In my opinion it’s always best to pick a travel option that allows you to see as much of the country and landscape as possible, so naturally when leaving Europe I opted to take the ferry from Algeciras, Spain to Tangier, Morocco! If you’ve been wondering what the ferry experience across the strait of Gibraltar is like then look no further and give this video a watch because in this episode of FionnOnTheRoad I’ll teach you exactly what to do… and what not to do. As I unfortunately discovered for myself that the ferry does not actually go to Tangier, at least not the Tangier I THOUGHT it did.
This is an incredibly beautiful city with hints of European influence in the architecture, while remaining a distinctly Moroccan city with it’s many distinct charms, and friendly population. After arriving in Tangier I take an afternoon to walk around the historic Medina, get lost in it’s endless maze of alleys and shops, and try a Moroccan classic, Tagine! Sit down and buckle up folks cuz this episode is a good one you won’t want to miss!

Morocco is the first country to recognize the United States independence in 1777. The only american historical landmarc outside the USA is in Tanger (the american legation) Nowadays its a museum. Enjoy Tanger!

You're most welcome to Tangiers...The cab driver was pretty fair...He would ask the same to a Moroccan national...All cab drivers have beenn hit hard by the soaring prices of gasoline...Beside Mohammed would probably drive back to the port with no passenger...Anyway ...To me it was somewhat correct.

    I have some notes
1- about breakfast, Yes I feel it was a little high and I think you would have found a better place than that with a lower price.
2 Dates are types and their price varies from type to another. There are some dates that reach 16 euros, but they are among the best dates.
3 And finally it is the tagine. Haha, I know that you only taste 70%, but next time try to eat the tagine in the Moroccan way (that is, using bread), inshallah it will be a great experience

In Morocco, you find two civilizations, ancient and modern. We keep the ancient from extinction. When you walk around in and out of the old, you feel like you've been in a time machine.

Hi Fionn, I have just stumbled on your channel and, of course, subscribed & liked! I am from Tangier, now live in Montreal, Canada, your homeland, and am very happy to rediscover the city where we live since 2013...For the taxi it's fair, because instead of riding with 5 more people, he took you there by yourself, which is awesome...Even me (as a born Moroccan), when I am in rush, or am just not in the mood to ride with anyone else, I just pay the fare of the other 5 passengers and get on my way...For the meal, the price is spot on, I would even say "it was cheap" for what you got....4$ CAD would barely get you a chewing gum here in Canada! Enjoy you trip and drink as much tea as you can, especially in the morning, along with " Baysara" (Payssar in local dialect) or beans' soup: very healthy and would keep you full until 2-4 pm, then you can get some fish (preferably sardines) at the port....I can't wait to go back to Morocco and Tangier, because my last saty there goes back to May, 2017! Best of luck from Montreal!

#FionnOnTheRoad first of all the cats are very loved in Morocco and yes also stray cats so that's why they're everywhere. Whole my life I drove form The Netherlands to Algeciras and took the ferry to Tangier. It's possible, you only unfortunately chose the wrong one to the Tangier Med (Industrial Port) 😁. You don't have to Tarifa for a Ferry to Tangier 😊 I enjoyed your video a lot and now I want to go a.s.a.p. to my birth country Morocco. And "tazjin" is cooked and steamed at the same time. Thank you Sir 👍

Yeah I chose the wrong one, I was just unfamiliar with the way things worked I guess. Thank you for the advice! Morocco is a great country

If only you have walked a little bit more on the shore side before climbing to the medina again, you would have stumbled on the famous fish restaurants of tangier! Many choices of fresh sea food and fish. Or you would have found the steps up the hillside to the kasbah!
