Avey gave that audience a monster performance and they’re just sitting there watching like it’s their 8 year old daughter butchering a flute practice session.
@@zach5381 Fun fact; Live TV audiences always contain a fair number of hired extras. It ensures every seat is filled on every show, and they are always very enthusiastic about what they see. Humans are social beings, so if the person next to you is clapping and cheering, you will too.
this isn't the Oscars. It's a small theater in midtown. They absolutely can fill it 4 nights a week with tourists visiting. They have an applause sign which is why the reception isn't truly authentic. @@namebrandmason
Just realized they’re talking about a bridge that will take them home during the bridge of the song. I think they’re literally talking about just coming back to the chorus. They are kinda crazy like that.
2:44 They must be so confused, I don’t blame them, it took ANCO fans a few years to fall in love with painting with I can’t imagine a crowd in unsuspecting guests

Centipede Hz is so underrated to I feel like a lot fans just didn’t like the contrast it had against MPP so fans and critics put it down but I listened to Centipede recently, its really not a bad indie album whatsoever
This song was uncontrollably on repeat on the overhead TV my first time tripping on acid. No one could figure out how to turn it off. During a thunderstorm in Florida.
@@Just.Kidding we were outside on the pool deck, and it was on a TV mounted from the ceiling. We had run out of cigarettes 6 hours ago and cigarette butts 2 hours before that. One guy lit a fire in the rain and it stayed lit the whole time.
I saw these guys live a bunch of times in the 2000's and 2010's and they always put on a really unique and cool show. Haven't seen them since Centipede Hz came out, but I'd definitely say they're worth checking out if they come to your area.
haha ive been listening to these guys simce the early days. The only other people who i met who liked them were huge stonners, but im not, im just weird! 🎉 that was really fun love though!
As a Native English speaker, AnCo's lyrics for their songs are notoriously difficult to understand. The album version is actually easier to understand. Avery Tare (ballcap guy) actually adds a lot of improv to the lyrics by playing with vowel length and word emphasis in this live performance so it makes it even harder to understand.
I love this performance, but I don't get why Avey deliberately drags the vocals on the chorus. He does it every time. Why record it so precisely on the album and then always do this trippy slow-down effect live? *shrug
I think the AnCo boys make a lot of their live performances a little more “trippy” when they play live. I remember reading a while back that playing live is a blend of rehearsal and live jam, and the vocal thing is probably something g Avey did once that stuck.
@@Spoinzy Yeah I kinda thought something like that. It does make it feel like you're tripping, like time is distorted. Not a huge fan of that choice though.
I can't believe I used to like this. Pretentious, unlistenable art rock from rich liberal east coast kids who went to Waldorf school. It has no substance. This song is nonsense, which would be fine if it sounded good, but it doesn't.

animal collective on late night shows are some of my favourite videos in the world. weird! to the masses!
Radiohead playing The National Anthem on SNL type vibe
the audience shots are so fucking funny 😭 they have no idea what is going on
i love this performance SO MUCH

Why would people dislike the video, what's wrong with people?
People are idiots, especially Colbert's audience lol.
Geologist without a headlamp. Oh my!
They really sold out
He looks naked
He found all the rocks
He pawned it for Aveys new bass.

They sounded so fucking good with Jeremy Hyman on drums lol
Judging by that face at 2:22 that feedback looked like it was painful

are you talking about the distorted part sample?

nah he's feeling it

My favorite song
Honestly their best tv/late night show performance imo
Idk I loooved when they performed #1 live, but this shit does rock

I bet Jimmy Fallon would never have Animal Collective perform in his late night show. It's too weird... Am I wrong? Maybe.
i am a little disapointed, cause the impro of the one with the keyboard and the concert sound. I expected more.
