I'm glad you're also weirded out by Mii voices in this. Your first Mii almost sounds like Rosalina at some points... (On the subjects of Miis I'm STILL kinda miffed about how limited they can be. Would having outrageous hair colors and body types be too much to ask?! :P ) Its interesting to see how much the matchmaking changed from game to game. Mario Kart 8 might still have some work to do (let us change karts in-between friend matches without dropping!) but it came a LONG way from the DS/Wii days, huh?
I miss Fake Item Boxes too. People complain about not being able to block items, but if you're trying to do that, you're using it wrong. Fake Item Boxes are definitely the sneakiest item in the game, and I can get near 100% success rates dropping it in particular places. And they fall for it again and again! That was a weird video hiccup on the second race after the Bullet Bill ended. Everything became brown and gritty. That makes me think about how we could use a Call of Duty Kart. I don't know why you insisted on driving on the right side of Moonview Highway. Even I try to spend as much of my time on the left as possible back when I knew the game like the back of my hand. The risk of surprise blind-turn traffic was too much. I forgot about the zero-sum nature of VR gain and loss in this game. Boy, that was brutal if you weren't already at a decent level with the game when you first began. And the later you began, the more disadvantaged you'd be.
Overhazard there useless though. Sure it’s fine if they don’t block items. But I mean. I still wish it could do that. And in MKwii it’s easy to tell if there real or fake, by the red colour. They were better in MKDS and MK64 though. And so far it’s the only game where there some what useful.
Mii vehicle choices in this game are based on the physical dimensions of the Mii you're using. The thresholds for either are pretty comically exaggerated, though... a Large Mii requires near-maximum of at least one of height and weight, if not getting pretty close on both. (The same is true in the opposite direction for a Small Mii.)
Make ur mii size tall or fat for the large vehicles, keep your mii size both relitively in the middle for medium vehicles, and make ur mii short or skinny for small vehicles
