    Rocking a child. The rocking motion helps the child feel secure and therefore has a calming effect.❤

    Stones and rocks have the same meaning. When you see them in nature, you can call them "Rocks" . If someone uses a rock, you can call it "a stone".
    Penguins make their nest out of pebbles.
    I used to collect pebbles and rocks, when I was a little girl.
    The big boat rocked back and forth in the waves.
    A Whiskey on the rocks 🥃 means with ice and only ice, no juice or soda.
    To rock the boat is a idiom that means to do something that upsets the other people in your group.
    Don't rock the boat until the negotiations are finished.
    His death rocked the fashion bussines.
    Don't be stoned or a stoner! Try to be sober.
    Your ebook is really amazing. You rock, Mike.

    Boulder is a big rock.
    Back in his cornfield, he machetied back brush to uncover a boulder carved with pre-hispanic spirals.
    Andrea collapsed on the closest boulder, and closed her eyes for a moment's rest.
    Suddenly, the bomb rocked the avenue, and 7 people got hurt.
    Thanks again, Mike. I've never thought "Rock" has different meanings.😊😊

      Wow! Very good! I'm glad you learned some things from this video!
      Here are a few corrections.
      He is a stoner. = He regularly uses marijuana. (Only marijuana, not other drugs)
      Yesterday, an explosion rocked the nuclear power plant.✅
      "Rock" does not mean "explode".
      "Rock" means that something shakes because of something.

    • @lolyruiz4266
      @lolyruiz4266 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TeacherMikeEnglish Yeah,but a person can be a stoner even without marijuana with others drugs ( but I got it , it when it's related to a person using the marijuana in an extreme addiction then ) ... I understood that rock doesn't mean to explode ,I translated it with the verbal conjugation explosionó in that Spanish phrase because is obvious was sacudida ( rocked ) that nuclear power plant due to an explosion , which means something provoked that there,logically that was provoked by an explosion there in that nuclear power plant...ok,got it,thanks...but I knew rock means when something shakes because of something and by that then yesterday there..ok,ok,vale,vale,
      teacher,Mike. Then better written that phrase: yesterday , that nuclear power plant got rocked there ( because of an explosion)= or yesterday an explosion rocked that central power plant

    Hi, Mike.
    The ship rocked back and forth in the waves.
    I just looked in a dictionary and it says "on the waves". Which preposition is correct?

    • @TeacherMikeEnglish
      @TeacherMikeEnglish  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It could probably be different in different contexts. ON the waves sounds like the ship is directly on top of the waves. Usually, that is not the case. Usually, a big portion of the ship is below the water. Also, the waves / the ocean are an area, so I think that IN makes more sense in this context. I could be wrong, though.

      @@Bo.and.her.friends Those are both correct, but "in the streets" is something different. It basically means that someone is in a poor urban community and possibly involved in illegal activities.
