Hello Retro-Dade I bought Arturia (Essential49) +V5, V6 and spent some time looking for Rolling Bass in Jupiter8 . Do You know if Arturia gave it in its V5, V5 or AnalogLab. Or maybe rename this ? Thanks very much for all Your beautifull passion . All the best from Poland . Emil

Fantastic work. Any chance you could break down the settings of Pad I on the Jupiter 8? I don't own the synth but would like to try to recreate the sound in a VST. Thanks!

Monologue DNB Thank you. I’m actually not a keyboard player. I messed with knobs blindly until I got a sound I like. I would say start with a pad you like, then go to the cutoff and ADSR envelopes to get as close as possible. The HPF on the old Roland synths is a good feature, too.

This was the very FIRST tune I've heard from a laserdisc. I'll never forget the sensation of hearing the clarity, the high and low notes with precise clarity. It was like watching for the first time a 4K TV coming from a standard one. So, this tune is very special for me. When I put this on my car, it morphs into a Lamborghini Countach and the road becomes a digital highway.

    Wonderfully awesome!
I've always been a fan of minimalist versions.
Another reason I like the 12in extended singles from the 80s, as they frequently did that with songs. Sometimes they started out with a minimalist version, and ended with a minimalist version. Believe it or not, I didn't know that so many elements went into recording that piece. I'm impressed.
    Love it! 👍🌴

I'm nearly 20, so yeah I'm a 2000s kid, but I love Miami Vice and Jan Hammer's brilliant tracks. I tried to recreate Crockett's theme over on my channel, this video helped me break the track down. This video showing off all the sounds that build up Crockett's theme would defiantly impress Jan himself. I have a request, can you recreate the original version of Crockett's theme, the one from 'Calderone's Return'? That would be awesome since Jan never released that version. If you managed to get your hands on a real Memorymoog and a real Jupiter-8 hats off bud. They're two of the greatest (and now most exclusive) vintage synths. I was looking at the Moog One but they are extremely expensive, not quite the same as the old Memorymoogs, and not something I want to finance right now with all the economic uncertainty over the virus right now.

Matthew Cragg Thanks, Matthew. The Memorymoog+ is mine. It is refurbished better than new. I’m extremely fortunate to own as fine an example as any in existence! The JP-8 in this video was loaned for one day of tracking/videoing. However, I do own a System-8, and after playing both, I could never spend the money for a real JP-8 when the plug out on the S8 is almost unrecognizably different (audibly) side by side (at least for what I do). I highly recommend the System 8 to anyone who wants vintage Roland synth sounds. It’s amazing!

Synth composers are just as much musicians as they are programmers looking for that specific sound, and I love that you honour that tradition.
I love it when people think of a song as something more than just the notes: sounds define an era and can trigger strong emotions.
I think of effects as an integral part of a sound (like the gated reverb on the basedrum for instance) and I don´t know if it´s laziness, shortage of money/equipment or whether most people just have no ear for that depth of detail, but you sure do.
If I may ask, the DX7 patch for the melody, can I get that sound on a MK1 brownface as well?

Start with one of the factory preset pads. 31, 32, 33? I can’t remember, but one of the “Low Strings” pads. You’ll have to tweak the HPF and cutoff to get close. Good luck! I highly recommend you buy a System 8 for Jupiter sounds. I have one, and after playing the JP8, I can honestly say you can not tell the difference in a mix. It’s all-around the best clone so far. Hopefully, Behringer will make a JP8 clone, but until then, nothing I’ve tried is better than the System 8, which weighs about 10lbs, doesn’t need to warm up, and never needs tuning/calibration. It’s one of my favorite synths ever. Worth every penny of $1K US. 👏👏👏

I believe the assigned mode is Poly "1" but also not sure. I seem to have difficulty getting the sequence right, perhaps the speed/rate, as I'm a bit of newbie when trying to adjust the arpeggio.
