    One thing to note with the Crucial BX500 1TB and 2TB models is that the SLC cache varies in size based on the amount of space remaining. So when the drive in nearly full (>80%), performance of the drive will worsen and I have found it noticeable. Sometimes write speeds drop to approximately 50MB a second with a large file transfer. This is caused by the SLC cache being exhausted meaning the write task can only continue with the QLC nand directly (which is actually much slower than TLC nand). Another thing to note that for the Crucial BX500 models up to 960GB use TLC nand and models from 1TB use QLC nand so this means that when writing large files, the smaller capacity models can perform better than the higher capacity models

      That's the case with many SSD models. Unfortunately, I did not test the SSDs with various space availability, I am still working on such a system.

      @@TechLegend-com Indeed. I actually have a BX500 480GB and a BX500 2TB models so I am able to compare them. They are budget drives but perform reasonably well for the money

      @@JibHyourinmaru The 2TB model is working fine as a Steam gaming drive. I wouldn't use it as boot drive though. The MX500 is a much better drive for that purpose

      @r3b0rn80 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only way to prevent low performance is to buy the 1Tb or 2Tb versions as the lower capacity ones will end up full more quickly.
      Those low capacity models shouldn’t even exist…
