One thing to note with the Crucial BX500 1TB and 2TB models is that the SLC cache varies in size based on the amount of space remaining. So when the drive in nearly full (>80%), performance of the drive will worsen and I have found it noticeable. Sometimes write speeds drop to approximately 50MB a second with a large file transfer. This is caused by the SLC cache being exhausted meaning the write task can only continue with the QLC nand directly (which is actually much slower than TLC nand). Another thing to note that for the Crucial BX500 models up to 960GB use TLC nand and models from 1TB use QLC nand so this means that when writing large files, the smaller capacity models can perform better than the higher capacity models

As long as your laptop is compatible with a regular 2.5" storage device, it will work. And the dell 3542 looks like it is.
@@TechLegend-com other one is compatible as per crucial website but it says MX not BX may be they are promoting for costlier one is there any difference in size between the two?
@@arshjain03 They are promoting the MX as it is better as a product, but the BX will work just fine. The size of both SSDs is the same, in fact, all SSDs are the same with small exceptions.
@@TechLegend-com so will it fit or not in my dell 3542? bx500?
@@TechLegend-com the thing is i wanna go for the cheapest option coz i dont know till when my laptop will work its already 5yrs+ these days m.2 slots are available in new laptops so the sdd will be wasted.
Can I put this in a 2013 mac book pro?
It should work.
even tho its been a year, this video helped a lot to ensure me about my purchase
i wanted to replace my 1tb hdd drive with an ssd and turn in into an external 1tb hdd
Great to hear!
Can you install this on a i7 asus gaming laptop?
I believe that you can.
for some reason crystaldiskmark says mine is running 3400 MB/s
And you are complaining? :)
Must Have Enabled Momentum Cache
@@loppyios852 Or that.
How durable this SSD. I mean it's a wear indicator after using it for a few months. I'm using Kingston a400 for 5 months and the SSD health already at 94% which is SSD to wear very fast considering it not actually doing something intensive.
These SSDs are pretty durable, I don't think you will have any issues with these for years.
My 3 year old Seagate 1TB HDD died today. Gosh HDDs suck. Gonna buy this baby soon.
It think it really depends on what models you use, and a bit on the luck you have.
@@TechLegend-com My Toshiba HDD on my 8 year old laptop still runs strong. I'm using it as a temporary replacement for my current laptop in which the 1TB HDD drive. Sad it only had 256GB but still runs strong even when power surges happen, they don't go corrupt.
@@SIlentZedrikMusic True, but SSDs are getting better and better. I remember the first days of the SSD, where it would ruin its memory chips if you downloaded big files in chunks. Those were the days!
Is it good for iMac 2019? Base model
It should work.
How do I choose this ssd over the iMac’s? Need help.

That is a photo I took on a trip.
@@TechLegend-com give it to me also , it is very nice
@@TechLegend-com Amazing Click 📸
Is it still good until now?
Still working just fine.
I've bought it on 2018 and since then nothing went wrong not a single reset was required. Not a single boot problem in windows that happens often in hdds. Just ordered another one 2 days ago.
thanks for info. i order this today bx500 1Tb for 65€ for storage movies and some games.my samsung PM961 256gb is my primary disk..i hope it will work at least 4-5 years .Thanks
It should work great for many years, not just 4-5.
@@TechLegend-com thanks for reply :)
This is exactly my situation I have the PM961 but I can only get like 5 games on it so I’m adding a BX500 1tb
Ssd yours still going on ?
Still going strong!
@@TechLegend-com amazed
picking the 2tb up for 144 euros in germany. what a steal
You are correct! :D
are both parts of the body made from metal ?
Yes.
@@TechLegend-com Cool then! looks like new 1tb and 2tb bx500 are significant step forward comparing to the smaller versions. both in terms of construction and the memory/controller. They both are made in mexican plant vs chinese smaller models.
Thanks for valuable info and great review!
@@Stantube1000 Thanks for watching! :)
Thank you very much! ♥
You're welcome!
Is this worth getting for rainbow six siege on my pc
It's a good value SSD, so having one will be a good upgrade over a standard HDD.
@Al Mafioso Hopefully, it works good.
@Al Mafioso Then it will do its job and get you faster loading times.
@Al Mafioso You're welcome! Don't forget to subscribe! 😊
@Al Mafioso Thanks, I really appreciate it!
i got one but the 120 gb one it was faster than my ssd my cpu usage is not as high when i had the hdd
So your CPU usage is higher with the SSD?
@@TechLegend-com I mean it's better with the ssd the HDD was higher cpu
@@Jordan75577 Ah, makes more sense!
Is it good to use this as PS4 Pro storage?
It should work just fine.
Yeah it works great since the ps4 pro uses the sata3 interface and has a 2.5 inch drive bay
@@ploperdung Thanks for the feedback! :)
Great review. I bought my new Samsung 840 Evo TLC SSD in 2014 for 198$ and it still works great but i needed bigger SSD so, 6 years later i bought myself an Intel 1,2Tb 2,5" S3610 Sata SSD with only 18 hours runtime and 1Tb of data written for 114 $. It's MLC type. Awesome upgrade.
Great to hear the upgrade was good for you! :)
congrats pentru vocabular si ton ...instant sub.
Mulțumesc! :D
can it fit a ps4 drive
Yes it is compatible with the PS4.
Nice and simpel video. Thx
Glad you liked it!
can i use this ssd externally?
Yess but you need the proper adapter or external enclosure for the SSD.
@@TechLegend-comcan you link it to me?
@@glitterkid1414 Take a look at this one: amzn.to/3huKkkq
As long as you plug it into a sata port in your pc
I have one doubt
Which is?
@@TechLegend-com all sata Cable pprt have same voltage? eg,like sata connection for laptop and pc have same voltage of 12v?
@@mukeshrajak4579 All SATA connectors will behave the same, if your laptop has those, then it will work with any SATA SSD.
Test it with 90% full then only makes sense, even crap ssd will perform good when empty
All SSDs are tested the same. Testing the SSDs with difference capacity loads will take a lot more time. You can expect such testing in the future.
Now SSD's are very cheap i got this SSD for 55€ in Germany! I will use this as my Second drive for Games because my 500gb SSD is already full
55 eur is a good price no matter how you look at it. :)
I was looking at these the other day and was turned off of it because I saw it didn't have dram. Thank you for your in depth review.
The tiny board size gives me ideas for mods lol.
They often don't get the recognition they deserve, the BX500 is really cheap, and for someone that doesn't want the best performance of all SSDs, it is a good choice. :)
@@TechLegend-com I feel like ssds are one of those things most people overestimate their ability to use to full extent. Like everyone really needs 2000mb/s read/write.
@@MrBearyMcBearface It's about the numbers and bragging rights. Many people don't even use these SSDs at their max capacity.
QLC or 96L TLC?
96-Layer 3D TLC.
@@TechLegend-com awesome. I just heard you said "QLC", wanted to be sure, thanks!
@@Stantube1000 It was my spelling mistake.
@@Stantube1000 Actually, I looked at the review notes for this video. And the BX500 SSDs are both QLC and TLC. Basically, the TLC versions are the 960GB and lower variants, while the QLC ones are the 1TB version and upwards. Which explains why i said so in the video.
@@TechLegend-com does that mean you were right or wrong? QLC memory then?
today i purchased this 1tb ssd

DRAM Cash.
