I've now watched and re-watched this clip at least six times now and had to drop another comment. This incredibly talented and gifted young man has once again demystified the notion about the brown sound having anything to do with amp mods to change resistor values and whatnot or using a variac...it's all just smoke and mirrors. The real magic to that tone is the combination of a driven Marshall plexi AND (most crucial element) the exceptional and refined playing technique, feel and absolute passion that comes through from Jacob's hands! Tone chasing stops here! Nuff said.
Damn Jacob, that was fantastic! Great work! Just watching how all over the place this solo is, just re-enforces what a mad genius Ed was. The note selection, positions, tonality, rhythm, you name it. How'd he dream this stuff up?
I’ve been watching since the pre facial hair days and you’ve only gotten better. You really capture the sound, nuances and attack of Ed. To all readers, check out his originals…it’s everything guitar rock needs to be.
Jacob is ridiculously talented. He said it best himself... if he had been born 20 years earlier, he would be known world-wide as the lead guitarist in some huge band.
For those who think he's getting that tone from the guitar and Amp? Wrong...yes having the right equipment helps...but it's all in his hands and fingers..Pretty sure Jacob could pick up a piece of junk guitar and Amp and still sound like that.. Many Eddie clones out there....but Jacob is no clone...He has spent the time practicing to be as great as he is...and it shows!!!!.... Talent like his doesn't come around all that often...That's why I still waiting on a US tour.. Or I might have to book a vacation to Canada to see him... If you haven't seen his band in a bar...it's on youtube...and it's pretty incredible.. Every time I watch it I have to wonder if the people in the bar actually realize there are witnessing greatness not only on the guitar level but his vocals also.. NOBODY AND I MEAN NOBODY..Can play and sing as well as him at the moment.. Maybe I'm bias because I watched him as a goofy kid playing Eddie rifs in his bedroom to the monster artist he has become now. ROCK ON !!!!!
Love these clips! Keep them coming, Jacob; please give us a video if you get the chance of your recording setup. Are you using the Universal Audio OX we see on top of the Marshall? If you could maybe shoot a quick rig rundown video showcasing how you record these clips, that would be awesome! My guess is you are going from guitar to pedal board, EVH MXR Flanger into EVH MXR Phaser ( I know you are not using them all the time) into Marshall with a variac set to around 87 volts into the UA Ox, and maybe adding delay or using the UA?
Jacob you floor me with everything you inspire upon to display with your God dedicated talent and hit every Van halen favorite in my blood coursing veins to my heart. I and was much like you in my younger years but caved to 4 children (not a regret) and chose a different path. I hope you don't mind if I live a past dream through you and salute your parents for not using a condom. Let er RIP son
Jacob, because the tone seems to follow your hands, I’d be very interested in what each different amp brings to you? It seems like all that is required is a “Good Marshall Sound”, and you can take care of the rest.
@JacobDeraps Two excellent bands. With your new management, I hope they are able to slot you in with a well-known band that gets you the exposure you deserve.
Deraps the fuck dude!!! How are you playing van halen like this lol. I think I need you to come visit pakistan and do an entire Van Halen show. Ill fund it haha. Unbelievable dude
Awesome job 👍 Awesome song. But imo Eddies worst solo ever. It’s not melodic, just a bunch of notes. Painful for me to listen to. Pretty much why I feel he doesn’t hold a candle to Randy Rhoads. Again, awesome job on nailing it though.

me too but idk what he does to achieve this sound 🥲
💯 and you probably know this already (because I didn’t for years) he’s using an eventide detuning effect that sounds a bit like a chorusing effect.
Who you talking about?
wow can’t believe he doesn’t use a variac or amp mods, i was just thinking how he sounds spot on
@@travelman158 EVH, but Jacob might be using modeling or something for the effect
Sounds like an isolated guitar track taken from the original recording. That's the best compliment I can give.
Please Make a video of your 1959 amp set up. How you get that Brown sound. Love your sound and chops. 👍🏾🤩 thanks
I’ve always thought this was one of their most underrated songs.
Awesome playing, Jacob DeRocks! 🤙🏻😎
Unfreaking-believable...absolutely flawless!
Well freakin done! You not only have the notes but you capture the personality n attitude that lived in EVH s playing.
This is so sick!! Way to NAIL that solo, man! 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼
One of my fav Eddie solos. Nailed it brother!
Love this stuff. Captures the magic from an amazing time.
I always loved the album Fair Warning! It’s one of the best rock albums of all time.
Eargasm! You killed it! 🤘🏼
Jacob, I’m looking forward to your sophomore album.
Pretty mind blowing talent for sure.
Damn Jacob, that was fantastic! Great work! Just watching how all over the place this solo is, just re-enforces what a mad genius Ed was. The note selection, positions, tonality, rhythm, you name it. How'd he dream this stuff up?
You literally have the best tone out there for these demos. Nice job.
Awesome Jacob!
Sounds great!!
Like sitting at an Eddie Van Halen soundcheck. This guy is unbelievable
Love this!!!

nailed the isolated track available with precision 11 out of 10
That was on the money dude AND I SAID ROCK ON! 🤘🎸
Danke!
@@marcosso11 Many thanks!
NAILED IT DUDE!! Bravo 👍🏾👍🏾
Insanely good! I can hear a ghost cowbell - you are right in the pocket brother.
Awesome tone! Nailed it Jacob!
Insane!!
Top job. ❤ It!
Dude!!!!! music to my ears
I swear this is just Eddie’s isolated track off the album. You fuckin rule dude
Pretty arrogant for giving you a heart emoji for this comment.
Jacob is ridiculously talented. He said it best himself... if he had been born 20 years earlier, he would be known world-wide as the lead guitarist in some huge band.
Fk yeah! After 40 yrs listening to Eddie, that’s my favourite solo of all! 🤟🏼
Per-fec-tion
Incredibly accurate & Awesome!
dude your strikes are great bro
Good one!
Oh damn Jakob-c’est magnifique!
Fou raide comme toujours...Rock on Jacob!

ROCK ON !!!!!
No one captures the VH tone better than Deraps (aside from the originator/inventor, EVH). 🙂🤘🏻🎸
unbelievable jacob
Nailed it
Deraps used the bar. Nice. Lol what a God at impersonation of God...The One
Love it!
Get it dawg 🤘🏼
You need to recreate the tone from the 1980 concert in Oakland when they played that song. Intro was killer
beautiful fire
You can try me at home ... if it feels all right ... but I ain't home ... at night!!! I really don't wanna!!!
This is the only guy who can play exactly like Eddie
Pete Thorn, Al Estrada and Simon Hosford all do a great Eddie as well.

new amp sounds great - it's your feel and touch on the strings that is the real magic - can't buy that!
Showcases how cool Eddie was 🥹
Killer as always! What string gauges and tuning are you usually in for the old school EVH stuff?
Jacob, because the tone seems to follow your hands, I’d be very interested in what each different amp brings to you? It seems like all that is required is a “Good Marshall Sound”, and you can take care of the rest.
VH Cover band. People would freak out. Do it before you get much older. It’s a young man’s game.
Awesome! Hey, what’s that unit that is on top of the amp? I see it in so many videos.
F'in A brother. Killer tone.
If you could open for any band on a big 50 - 75 city world tour, who would you pick?
Thanks! AC/DC or Guns N’ Roses for sure, we also had the pleasure to do Foreigner last summer.
@JacobDeraps Two excellent bands. With your new management, I hope they are able to slot you in with a well-known band that gets you the exposure you deserve.
Does this talented man have a tribute band?
May I make a request: How about the outro solo to One Foot Out the Door
so whens the 2nd album come out?
Lol that guitar looks massive on you bro;)
You are a badass guitar player. Best part is you are Canadian.
Where's the detune coming from?
Dude!!! Come on!!!
its early 2025, where's the album 😁
Me wise Magic
You need to playing stadiums.
Deraps the fuck dude!!! How are you playing van halen like this lol. I think I need you to come visit pakistan and do an entire Van Halen show. Ill fund it haha. Unbelievable dude
I 100% think this guy could fool Wolfie

Again, awesome job on nailing it though.
This guy ain't real
