I was a long haired rock and roll drummer, gigging steadily, when this movie came out. Me and my band mates went to see it. We walked out 2 hours later forever changed. I opened up an entirely new world of music for us. I will be forever grateful.

I got to see many live performances: symphonies, operas, ballets and loved them all. I learned to appreciate that sometimes less is more. I am from the inner city and had not ever experienced any classical composer. I tried to hide my confusion and emotions from my classmates, I was overwhelmed. After years and decades I look back and think how my friends couldn’t hear what I was hearing. It’s been many decades now and I have a greater love for life because of that day, and a vast collection of master works that bring me joy. If you can, try and spread that joy to young people.

The Wind Serenades(Nos10-12) are like some of interludes for winds in last piano concertos absolutely delectable with their blend of instruments. The first of these is the best known although the longest. If you saw "Amadeus" you will remember Salieri, in his first experience of Mozart's music in ecstasy as the oboe introduced the main theme of the adagio with supreme poignancy.
Such a memorable piece and I think this movie is so engaging is the writing of Peter Schaffer was so insightful and brings further meaning to the music, period and, of course, Mozart.
I'm happy to be able to say I saw the movie at a theater when it was released in 1984. I was 21, not necessarily a classical music listener. But the movie was just about perfect. Bought the VHS when it became available, then the DVD. I guess I've seen it 40 times. A sublime piece!
As I hear the piece, from the start, my mind says "terrific, what is next?", and then the next part comes and it says "of course, that is the perfect choice!". Beautiful!

After that I asked my parents for books about him, there was no internet at that time. I wanted to know him. Since then his music has been present in my life. I am 43 now. The greatest thing about this piece is it's simplicity, and the saddest thing is how long it took for this man to be celebrated. Imagine a talent like Mozart today, maybe people will wake up, or just ridicule genius until their gone, like so many others.
The scene where Salieri describes this music made me appreciate Music structure. Think of it from the perview of a layman like myself who knows nothing of music, to know that a compisition can have seperate instruments carryon a note, compliment it, like a feather carried in the wind.

Such a memorable piece and I think this movie is so engaging is the writing of Peter Schaffer was so insightful and brings further meaning to the music, period and, of course, Mozart.

I'm happy to be able to say I saw the movie at a theater when it was released in 1984. I was 21, not necessarily a classical music listener. But the movie was just about perfect. Bought the VHS when it became available, then the DVD. I guess I've seen it 40 times. A sublime piece!
I saw it with my teenage musical daughter. I'm 74 now and still watch the DVD!!!! And listen to the music❤

I was already in love with Mozart from visiting Saltzburg but this movie was music to my soul. Characters so rich and entertaining and the music.......(the Micheal Jordan of Music(GOAT).
One of my dreams is to visit Salzburg. I knew about Mozart when I was about 11 years old,.when I watched the movie. After that I asked my parents for books about him, there was no internet at that time. I wanted to know him. Since then his music has been present in my life. I am 43 now. One day I will go to Europe following Mozart's route.

The greatest thing about this piece is it's simplicity, and the saddest thing is how long it took for this man to be celebrated. Imagine a talent like Mozart today, maybe people will wake up, or just ridicule genius until their gone, like so many others.

Oddly enough this movie taught me how to listen to music, this scene in particular..
So much depth and so many shades and layers of inspiring sentiments, in such a seemingly simple tune!
The scene where Salieri describes this music made me appreciate Music structure. Think of it from the perview of a layman like myself who knows nothing of music, to know that a compisition can have seperate instruments carryon a note, compliment it, like a feather carried in the wind.
At the end, when we are all counted, there will be champagne for Mr Mozart, because he had the Big Man on speed dial all along.
This is what it feels like to talk with the creator.

Swirling in your mouth breaking apart and combining again in a fugue of sweet and savory so delightful. This is no mere sandwich of grilled meat and toasted bread, Robin.
