Good video and I agree 100%, we are used to being let down by RCA. As for the squabbles, I ignore them, life is too short and we have so much to enjoy from Elvis!

Never understand why the earlier show is called the “rehearsal.” It wasn’t a rehearsal at all. It was a back up in case the proper transmission failed on the night.
Hey Richard,I followed your advice to buy the Aloha special edition 2023 legacy. And you are so right, the rehearsal show sounded never better. Like a blanket that was lifted from my 🔊 speakers. Yeah quit expensive, but I love it.
good show and breakdown of the releases. passed on both alohas and used the money for ftd houston show(which still hasn’t come in mail six weeks later)

Nice to see you again!! I have the FTD release and was on the fence on purchasing the new one which I may still but will wait for either a sale or we have a lot of preowned stores here and maybe it will show up at a more reasonable price. Keep up the good work.
Don’t go in expecting much and you’ll do okay. Just know the video looks awful. I’m happy to finally have the Alternate show sounding good. There’s not much else redeeming in this box.

Bout time for a new vid! You’re not alone. I have multiple copies of many and sometimes I forget that I already have one and buy it again!! Great to see ya!!!
You hit the nail on the head my friend. Any time "they" can make money off Elvis - they'll do it. Remember back in the 90's when RCA/BMG released the same 15 - 20 songs with different artwork on CD? It used to make me so angry that I vowed NOT to buy them. But like you said, I'm one of the fools . . . they're in my collection to this day. Thanks for the video.
Is the audio on the newest set exactly the same for both shows as on the Aloha FTD? I'm still going to buy it because I have all the 8 inch boxes and I i can't stop now 😂
No. The vinyl matches the FTD which is the very sub par 2013 mix. The new set has a new mix on the CD’s which is nice. The problem with the new box, as we discussed in the video, is the garbage quality on the Blu-ray.
So happy you made another video, it has been too long... Always enjoy your content Richard. Hopefully we will see a cooking video soon again as well. ❤
Good video. I have most of Elvis' collection on vinyl, and bought some box sets that were released after he died. Now I just by the unreleased digital releases to try and fill out the rest of my Elvis catalogue. I have all the concert albums that were released while he was alive, except for Aloha, and I have never been interested in buying that. Even though he looked great in that concert, to me the performance is not very exciting.
Unfortunately, ALOHA was shot on video and not film. There is no way to improve the quality. I do have one question, did they use the new audio mix on the Blu-Ray?
Yes, I’m aware of the format Aloha was shot in, but previous releases have looked significantly better than the latest release. That’s my gripe. Why did it take a step back when they’ve already released it cleaned up? As for the audio, no complaints there. I believe the new audio mix is on the Blu-ray. It’s certainly not the VHS audio. That would be tragic. I wouldn’t have been surprised if they released it that way, but they didn’t. The audio is great. The picture is terrible.
@@TheElvisWorkshop such a shame about the video. What would make it worse than the DVD is if they’ve used an inferior transfer which it seems they have. The only reason I’d buy this is for the Video show with the new audio mix .
Hello Richard a highly enjoyable video I have like you over the year's bought Aloha several times we will continue to buy being fan's and collector's sadly I have just ordered the FTD of Madison Square Garden yet another to multiple copies collection. I live in England I apologise for the so called Elvis fan from London who wants to teach you a lesson, Why people cannot appreciate you don't have too make videos of your collection I and a lot of people thank you for taking the time to make and upload them.. Best Regards Sean😂😊
Great video! Thanks for the review of New Legacy Aloha cd/blu ray set- I had heard from another that the blu ray was not good. Listening to your review, I will definitely pass. I bought the FTD set from last year, so I’m good. Good to see you back and making videos again! 👍🏻
Thanks for watching & I appreciate the feedback. I was disappointed in the Blu-ray for sure. The sound is great on the CD’s, but the picture is terrible. A bad miss by them.
Nice video, i love that Pearl album. The packaging looks great.I did not buy the From Elvis in Memphis lp, but i do have the ftd . I agree with you on the Alternate Aloha Legacy edition. I enjoy that more than the broadcast. I will not buy the new vynil. Thanks Richard.
The Pearl album is fantastic! Save yourself the money and don’t buy the new vinyl release. It is not an improvement over. What you already have if you have the original. Thanks for watching. And thank you for the comment. I appreciate it.
Great review and comments Richard! I was real excited for this 50th finally on bluray and then so disappointed at the quality. Even from VHS with todays technology they can clean it up better than this. It was embarrassing. As far as the missing tracks on the alternate I was always curious about that and read an article not too long ago and the mystery was cleared up. After filming the alternate the producer/director went to Elvis and said based on timing they needed about 10 more minutes or so to balance the live show coming up. Elvis went and added in a few "staples" like Johnny B Goode, etc throughout the playlist and extended the time. That kind of also explains possibly why he tripped up on the words for it as he may not have performed it in awhile.
It’s a bit more than that. If you compare set list to set list there are quite a few songs missing. I’m happy that it finally sounds a least comparable to the broadcast show in sound quality after all these decades. A shame it took this long. Thanks for watching.
Hi! I agree... sometimes I would like them to put much more care of the whole purchase when they ask so much money. I'm quite disappointed also with the Aloha CD box that looks so similar to the FTD one except for the Blu-ray 😒
@@TheElvisWorkshop Yeah....they know we spend our money for everything and they don't care. There are new fans out there so they don't care to put new stuff for we "old" ones
Well crap, I’m glad at least the sound quality is better since I broke down & bought it. Good to see you on here again, ignore the noise going around. I for one can handle the truth so keep doing what you do. EP has your back when you TCB⚡️😎
@paulgwyn7836that’s the move to make. To me the only thing redeemable about the FTD set is the cover art. That’s it….& that’s not much. It’s not hard to improve on the original artwork. Pretty sad all around.
Great video! I just bought the new Elvis Aloha box set here in the uk. The sound quality for both shows is Amazing! The same cant be said for the so called blu ray . The picture quality is poor compared to the dvd release. Who was in charge of this? And why couldn't they have gone to the original master video tapes from 1973,🤔
All great questions. Why they would put this box set out with great sound on the CD’s, great packaging and a dumpster fire of a Blu-ray is beyond me. To say it’s frustrating is an understatement.
Really enjoyed the vid, i back everythig you mention about the Aloha. I found the Alternate Aloha far better on the white box! I have just subscribed and yes ignore the negativity, you enjoy what you do and so do we!
Thanks for the sub. I hope you enjoy the videos. Thanks for watching. The Alternate has always been a bit of an odd experience. It’s never sounded good to my ears, the picture has never been particularly good. Elvis looks puffy for the first quarter of the show, but puts in a solid performance once he gets going.
Keep making your videos, bud. 👍🏼. Sometimes, people don't have anything better to do than to harass, or, critique someone in a rude manner. Push that stuff to the side. Block certain people, if you have to etc. I think your videos are really great, so keep up the great work.
I watched some of the remastering of the Alternate Show. The guy did a great job with the audio!!! Much fuller sound and apparently there was some sort of new sound isolation used. I think the guy had a short spot on the Elvis Week shows.
Really not much to report. It’s nice, but run of the mill. I was so disappointed on the so called Blu-ray that I didn’t spend any time on the booklet. All the packaging, including the booklet, is very nice on this release. All positive. Except Sonny West’s name being spelled incorrectly. Yet another sloppy error.
Elvis: That’s The Way It Is 2000 SE. The DVD/Blu-ray set comes with two discs. A DVD of the original movie and a Blu-ray of the re-edit from the year 2000. That will be the go to for best picture and sound.
If it’s the drunken fool who can’t spell…that’s him. He’s a little lap dog for a certain Elvis shop & likes to gloat about releases like he has anything to do with them. He’s a total embarrassment. I called him out on his foolishness. He sent me a threatening message and blocked me before I could respond. Coward move.
Great video and finally someone who thinks the alternate aloha album sounds like crap. I have the bootleg and it sounds a lot better. It sounds like an audience recording. Keep up the good work on the videos.
First I aint commenting to start an argument or a debate on who is right or wrong because we as Elvis fans have an opinion on what we like or dont like when it comes to the King. So here it goes. First. You said that the main show on the new Blu ray is a direct transfer of a VHS copy video tape. That is false. What you get on the Blu ray disc is a direct transfer of what you see on the 2016 Deluxe Edition dvd boxset with a few tweaks to the picture such as sharpness, clarity and color. You also get a Mono 2.0, Uncompressed 5.1 and full 5.1 stereo sound mix. Which ever you prefer. My complaint is why did they leave off the Arrival By Helicopter footage? Why didnt they include the Sept and November 72 Press Conferences which I know they dont own the rights to but still? And my last gripe is why didnt they fix the glitch where during the main show it switches to the Alternate Aloha when Elvis is introducing JD and The Stamps? They fixed it on the Aloha Special Edition DVD that I own but not on the Blu ray? Missed Opportunity in many respects. But after comparing the Blu ray to the DVD set and the single dvd of Aloha I think the Blu ray transfer is more clear, sharper and has more color. Could they have done better with todays technology? I am sure they could have but the Blu ray just like the 68 Special Blu ray was an after thought. If you have the dvd boxset and the Single disc version like I have your set but if you dont and now have the Blu ray disc you have a minor upgrade in Picture and sound. What got me to buy this set was the cd's which I will say is the best I have ever heard the Aloha Shows sound. And the 3am recordings that are now complete to me sound awesome. I have no complaints with the packaging so nothing to comment on there. I had a choice to buy either the FTD release or this release and I went with the Sony release because of price. $65 for the FTD set or $45 off Amazon for the Legacy set? It was a no brainer for me and unlike the Alternate Aloha on the FTD set the Sony Legacy set's Rehersal show was remixed by Matt Ross Spang and it sounds fantastic. That all being said. When it comes to Aloha, my all time favorite concert by The King, this boxset is it for me. I own the dvd boxset, single dvd disc release, the Legacy 2 disc release, the 1998 Aloha remastered cd release, this new Legacy release and I will be getting the album to round things out like I did with my EOT boxset. I am done when it comes to Aloha. Now all I wait for them to do is re-release the Elvis Thats The Way It Is boxset because my original one was stolen so I would like to replace it. Oh I forgot to add that I have a 2nd copy of this new Aloha release because my daughter bought me one by accident! So I have two copies of this new boxset. One in its shrink wrap and one that I opened. So yes enough for me lol.
No arguments at all. Great comment. I appreciate you taking the time to write it up. I still contend that the stand alone DVD of Aloha is better than the Bluray release. We can agree to disagree. However, as you pointed out, the CD’s are what make this box set. The sound is superb on the concerts. Thanks for watching. I appreciate the feedback.
Good to know...the main reason I wanted the Aloha 50th was for the Blu-ray. But knowing this I'm glad I didn't shell out the money. I'll just keep watching it on my actual VHS then 😅 For reference though, what was the DVD you recommended/what footage release is the best quality in your opinion?
Wow great video !! great reviews ! i especially do agree with you on the new Legacy release Aloha vinyl release, why in god´s name did they not use the Matt Ross Spang masters ?? the 2013 mastering by Vic Anesini does indeed sound BAD.....keep up the great video´s buddy ! 👍
The Pearl album of Janis Joplin is awesome, and value for money, I didn't know it even excisted, thanks for showing. I'm still on the fence about the Aloha Legacy boxset. I'm going to take another listen to the rehearsal show first on my FTD set, and compare it with the mainshow as well. Not gonna say i will not buy it again, but probably not , LOL. I always look forward to your videos Richard, and please don't let others stop you with their negativity.
@@TheElvisWorkshop Thanks Richard for replying. And Thanks to you I was listening to my special edition cd of Pearl the other day, mastered by Vic Anesini. About the FTD of Aloha? Do you think that the main show is also crap audio? I still have to compare both shows on this particular release. But you have triggered me to buy the legacy set ( well, maybe. ) Please keep them videos coming. I like them because you are not acting like the typical Elvis fan who does know it all.
@@freddysnip6257 the sound on the CD’s on the Legacy set are good. The 2013 mix on the FTD is awful. If you’re just looking for better sounding CD’s it’s worth picking up. Don’t buy it if you expect a good picture on the Blu-ray.
I bought this just for the blu ray, I had high hopes for the blu ray. My thoughts exactly it’s just a transfer and no clean up I was so annoyed. It was so rushed. 50th anniversary this blu ray should of been on its own and cleaned up as best as it could.the blu ray is in 4:3 ratio that can’t be changed to 16:9 wide screen via tv settings it just zooms in. The deluxe aloha set lets you change the video ratio via tv settings Did you have this problem. Gutted
To be honest, I never tried switching it to a different format. I just know that they have released it in far superior quality previously. So my question is, why take a step backwards? Why do we have an inferior version of the concert on a newer release & with the Legacy quality involved? It’s trash.
To be fair you are not the only one who has complained about the Blu-ray. But to say it looks like a VHS transfer is really unfair and simply not true. The Blu-ray is sharper and brighter than the DVD. The old TV shows on tape will never look like Blue Hawaii in 4K (oh how I love that release) There is nothing wrong with the DVD if you prefer it over the Blu-ray, that's fine. The same thing applies to the 68 Special Blu-ray. Folks complained about that too but it beats the DVD. Not a huge difference but the 68 Blu-ray also beats the DVD. Back to Aloha. I skipped the FTD because I knew this set would be coming out this year. You were right about that. I love the new box set. You won't get any threats from me about this kind of topic. There are lots of problems in the world but like Mick Jagger said, 'It's only rock and roll but WE like it, like it, yes WE do.'
Thank you for the great comments. We will just have to agree to disagree. The DVD is far superior to my eyes in picture quality. But I respect your opinion and thank you for watching. I am very happy with the sound on the new legacy release. They did a bang up job with that. I can tell you that I know somebody that knows somebody, I’ll just leave it at that, it is indeed a straight VHS transfer to Blu-ray. They didn’t know upgrades on the picture quality whatsoever. They did nothing to improve it whatsoever. The previous DVD releases, or at least cleaned up a little bit, and looks better, in my opinion anyway. I was really disappointed with the grainy quality on the Blu-ray that we were given. Still happy to have it, as I have said, previously many times other artists are not covered as much as Elvis. So it’s great to have all this product available. Thanks again for the comment and I appreciate you watching.
I always say how thankful I am that we get this abundance of releases. A lot of artists don’t get that. However, my complaint is that they have released the Aloha in far superior quality in the past. Why did they take a step back here when the work has already been done? Why do they continue to spell names wrong in the notes? It’s laziness and sloppiness. I don’t want to just settle. Elvis was so great, his catalog was great. It should be handled with the utmost care - similar to The Beatles catalog. We don’t see this kind of lack of care with their releases. They do it right. Elvis deserves the same. It’s not complaining to expect greatness from the Elvis catalog. I give kudos where it’s earned, but I also point out the missteps. I will continue that. Elvis deserves it.
RCA have always sold Elvis short to make a quick buck. This goes all the way back to the seventies when every album cover was a shot of Elvis in one of his jump suits.Elvis Country being an honourable exception.Thank you for a nice video on the king.
I love the mix sound of the original Alternate Aloha release in 1988. The first time I listened to it, I thought it was weird and I didn't like it, but after listening carefully, the mix to be more raw, more rock'n'roll. I love it.
@@TheElvisWorkshop I'll buy it because of the sound. F watching the blue ray. I was very disappointed with the On Tour box set....drums way in the back, didn't sound fresh....smh. 🤷🏻🤦🏻
Great video thanks for taking the time to make this video I've not seen your videos before but I'll check them out from now on. In my system I felt both concerts on the new 50th anniversary box were substantially better than previous issues. I haven't heard the FTD. The original vinyl is OK too but agree the 2013 Legacy version was awful for sound. As for the blu ray I think it's disappointing they didn't upgrade the picture. It seems the same as the DVD to me just that it's on one disc.
Everything you said here is totally on point. Don’t bother with the FTD. Other than the nice artwork it’s a waste of shelf space. The 2013 mix is awful. The audio on the new box is the way to go, but they dropped the ball by releasing it with a trash VHS transfer on a so called Blu-ray. Thanks for watching. Thanks for the feedback.
To be fair, Elvis hasn’t put out new music in a few decades….but yes, I understand your point. Now it’s mostly about sharp looking repackaging and words like “remixed” & “remastered” added to the hype sticker.
I tend to agree with that. Some people are making huge money from releasing Elvis music over and over with minor variations. Great photo booklets though, and I get sucked in by those.
@@Patracat I hate it that I’m a sucker for good packaging. I admit to collapsing and grabbing my wallet sometimes just for a shiny new object….that I already have in a lesser box! I try to fight it, but I’m not good at it.

Were they able to get the masters from NBC?
Yes you are right money 💰 🤑 💸
Hello Richard a highly enjoyable video I have like you over the year's bought Aloha several times we will continue to buy being fan's and collector's sadly I have just ordered the FTD of Madison Square Garden yet another to multiple copies collection.
I live in England I apologise for the so called Elvis fan from London who wants to teach you a lesson,
Why people cannot appreciate you don't have too make videos of your collection I and a lot of people thank you for taking the time to make and upload them..
Best Regards
Sean😂😊
Great video! Thanks for the review of New Legacy Aloha cd/blu ray set- I had heard from another that the blu ray was not good. Listening to your review, I will definitely pass. I bought the FTD set from last year, so I’m good.
Good to see you back and making videos again! 👍🏻
Thanks for watching & I appreciate the feedback. I was disappointed in the Blu-ray for sure. The sound is great on the CD’s, but the picture is terrible. A bad miss by them.
Thanks for the video Richard, I enioy and value your opinions.
Thank you! I enjoy making the videos. It’s rewarding that people get something out of them.
is concert in the deluxe box set the same version as the DVD single release version?
No. We discuss this in the video. It’s a transfer from a VHS tape. It’s pitiful.
Excellent comment! I had heard this previously, I think! You worded it perfectly. Thanks for the input and thanks for watching.
Yeah Richard, I am just as plain stupid as you 😉 Thanks for your great Elvis videos. Just recently discovered your videos and am catching up...
Don’t pay any mind to these people. Most who are arguing are Austin butler fans the newbs. Your doing a good job, keep up with the good work. TCB⚡️
Thank you for the encouragement! I appreciate you watching.
The rehearsal show turned out to be a little short on time so they added (I think) two songs to flesh it out for the actual broadcast.
Straight cash grab. I called it in my previous Aloha video. Sadly, another disappointment.
Thank you so much! I intend to. Thanks for watching!
@@TheElvisWorkshop You're very welcome, brother! 👍🏼
Excellent video Richard. Just have one question. I own the new Aloha box (3CD+BD). Do I need the 2022 FTD release?
Only for the cool artwork. Otherwise, no.
I watched some of the remastering of the Alternate Show. The guy did a great job with the audio!!! Much fuller sound and apparently there was some sort of new sound isolation used. I think the guy had a short spot on the Elvis Week shows.
Yes, they finally, after all this time, they finally got the sound right on the Alternate show! To me that the big highlight of this box.
Hey you didn't say anything about the booklet from the Aloha box set, that's nice to have.
💯 Greed and 💯 agreed.
What is the best blu ray or dvd concert out there?
Elvis: That’s The Way It Is 2000 SE. The DVD/Blu-ray set comes with two discs. A DVD of the original movie and a Blu-ray of the re-edit from the year 2000. That will be the go to for best picture and sound.
Great video Rick. I always enjoy your content. I wonder 💭 if your referring to Eddie from the Facebook collectors group. 🤔
You’re my favorite fool 😂 the Pearl set looks phenomenal
Great video and finally someone who thinks the alternate aloha album sounds like crap. I have the bootleg and it sounds a lot better. It sounds like an audience recording. Keep up the good work on the videos.
Thank you for watching. I’ve always thought the Alternate show sounded like trash.
Watch the newest video I just posted last night called Movie Mayhem for the answer!
Thanks for watching. 😉
@@TheElvisWorkshop will do thanks!
Oh man! 😍💯💯😍
Thank you. I appreciate it. I just give my honest opinion. Sometimes it ruffles feathers, but most agree.
Thanks for watching. 😉
@@TheElvisWorkshop I do appreciatie your opinion very much , and you are always RIGHT, and that is most important !! Keep It UP 👍
Nice video buddy. You're about the arguing back and forth is total nonsense. People are so worried about being the one who is right. SAD.
I couldn’t agree more. Thanks for watching. I appreciate the comment.
SUPER +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback.
The masters version of the Pearl album is fantastic. Pick it up cheaper than retail on eBay. It’s worth buying.
Well i enjoyed the box set at least we got something fans will always pick stuff apart good or bad some are never satisfied.
@@davidgibbs7232 they have but nothing we can do abaut that now just be happy for what we get at least we still getting stuff.
I love the mix sound of the original Alternate Aloha release in 1988. The first time I listened to it, I thought it was weird and I didn't like it, but after listening carefully, the mix to be more raw, more rock'n'roll. I love it.
Are you freaking serious ?????
To find new music, it is needed to see artwork of the album

Go for it Richard, don’t be dragged down by negativity. Stay ‘So High’
