    Been drawing all my life, added digital in the 90's, still do traditional. What you've done here actually takes MORE WORK than if someone did pencils and ink by hand.
    Definitely legit.
    I love it.

      I was about to say the same. It has more work and it takes a lot more time. Hell, it even takes more resources from your pc. The final result is good, but the process is definitely not efficient.

    • @IZISkull
      @IZISkull ปีที่แล้ว +38

      @@kurodahyokazahuchi5344 Do you mean the photoshop side of his pipeline adds more to time? Once modelling, texturing and rigging is complete, they don't have to redraw characters, body proportions are always correct or consistent depending on the style you want (Also can always modify characters if need be). They're not animating, so poses are very quick (from my experience) and can be changed on the fly. Framing is easy cause you work in 3D. I am new to the photoshop art side not new on the photomanipulation side that's why I asked. I think is very efficient especially if you can't draw on that level or even if you can draw on that level the 3d assets can be used as a previz.

    • @UnbeltedSundew
      @UnbeltedSundew ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@IZISkull Because the modeling and texturing and rigging is never really complete. There is always new costumes, new sets, new characters. After a certain amount of work has been created there may be a break even point, where it starts paying off, but how long do most comics last? Is it long enough to reach that point? Etc. etc. there's lots of variables.

      It's pretty obvious 3D. The computer draws in 2d pixels, but does so with such fine gradient and planes that it creates a very real looking 3d Object. The difference is often in how textures are applied and how 3 dimensional the object looks. His is too much like 3D.

    Opinión mía cuando probé este método en mis trabajos: Creo que optimizas bastante el tiempo si creas un escenario o varios en donde se desarrollara tu historia y luego le aplicas el efecto en PS, y vas haciendo el encuadre de la cámara para tus composiciones, te ahorras bastante el tiempo a futuro, obvio teniendo en cuenta que sabes manejar programas 3d, ya sea blender u otros. Luego puedes reutilar esos escenarios haciéndole modificaciones.

    • @ArmouredAvian
      @ArmouredAvian  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Amount of materials in these character models, means it would take forever, replacing every material with a shader node.
      I also don't like the effect cell shading gives off, it's way to clean like vector art and you can tell it's 3D pretending to be line art.
      I like my method's result because it's quite dirty and imperfect like a human.

    • @MaheshPagar0
      @MaheshPagar0 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ArmouredAvianin final render, you're almost using 2 colors , you could just have 2 materials and one shader for all.

    After repeatedly watching the video, I still have some questions. As a beginner, some of these might be quite basic, but regardless, the video was excellent and has instilled in me a sense of hope that I can successfully get this 3D comic project done.
    1. Is kit bashing essentially the of merging various 3D model pieces together? If so, could this method also be applied to creating backgrounds such as cities, rooms, houses, forests, and so on?
    2. How did you approach creating different scenes for each panel? Did you construct individual scenes within Blender and then render the entire scene at once, or did you render each element separately?

    • @ArmouredAvian
      @ArmouredAvian  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for such a detailed comment.
      1. Yes Kitbashing is basically taking a bunch of models or packs stripping them down and making something new.
      For cities and rooms and forests there are several asset packs Kitbash3D, Big Medium Small, Quixel Mega Scans (Quixel is free for Epic Games accounts) and Geo Scatter.
      2. If you look at the outliner in Blender you will see I've created several collections and named them Scene. This is for each panel in the comics story.
      I then go through the sequence, revealing one collection, rendering it, then revealing the next one. Until I have several Renders in sequence.
      If you're interested in learning how to Kitbash a gun I made a tutorial on Rigging an AKS-74U and Kitbashing it into a modern tactical weapon.

      You don't need drawing skills to remove artifacts.
      Just a mouse and a good eye clean for linework and the 3D render sitting hidden at the top of your layers for reference.

    “I created a comic book with zero skills in Blender” 😂 as opposed to “I created a comic book with zero 3D modeling skills but pencil and paper” - great video and workflow, anyways!

    Lovely ngl, but I loved it before the filter cause it looked more intense, scary, and more true to life...
    Don't get me wrong, the end result is dope too.

    Here is when I ask: Who cares if you know how to draw or not? How cares if you used Blender or whatever else? What make you an artist is the result of your work, not your set of skills or the resources you use for doing your work. Even if you had used Midjourney I would see very awesome as well.

    the finished product still looks like it was traced- doesn't have the realistic drawing feel to it which makes sense, cool nonetheless

    If know how to apply the highlights and know where to apply then you have drawing skills or st lesst knowledge.

    Question: Why not leave it at the 3D renders stage? I liked it better when it was like that
