I've heard people not liking the OP at the end of the episode, but I thought it kinda fit. After seeing everything go down, hearing the intro added an uneasiness or discomfort.

fun fact: the opening was specifically made from the perspective of a curse mocking someone. thats pretty much the reason they put that opening in yuji's despair because your not looking at it in yuji's perspective but instead in sukuna's perspective mocking yuji's despair.
This episode was simply a masterpiece that we didn't deserve. I hope that change is made in mappa and that workers can get a breaking because they fr being overworked beyond belief
this fight is absolute adaptability vs absolute non-stagnation. goes to show harmony is peak until it attacks the fabric of chaos. Can't harmonize something you can't see. that's why when the screen cracked and he was blown away happily that mahoraga could actually see his technique it made it my favorite anime fight off the last 5 years.
Talking about how Sukuna basically negated any good Yuji had done, for every life Yuji could save by exorcising curses over a span of a few months, in just an hour or so, Sukuna killed hundreds more. And the reason why Sukuna was even unleashed in the first place? Because Yuji wasn't strong enough. We see multiple times that Yuji wants to get stronger, that he doesn't wanna rely on his unique ability as Sukuna's vessel, but because he lost to Choso, in a fight he thought he had the advantage no less (close combat, no blood manipulation outside the body), he was knocked out, vulnerable to Geto's daughters and Jogo to feed him enough fingers to awaken Sukuna. Even if he can makes the distinction that it was Sukuna's fault for killing in the first place, he feels he has a part to blame by not being strong enough.
Also forgot to mention the whole “only I should die” about Itadori. Itadori has an execution on his head by the elders of Jujutsu. Calling him a ticking time bomb, unaware of Yuji’s finger limit, for all they knew, Yuji could only handle 2 and Sukuna would rampage. Yuji’s execution was only delayed by Gojo’s threat of murdering the higher-ups, the same Gojo who is sealed. And why did Gojo stick up for Yuji? Because he thought Yuji could do some good for the world of Jujutsu, help overturn the old, corrupt traditions and save lives. And how does Yuji repay him, by unintentionally getting people of Shibuya killed from a ticking time bomb. Not even Gojo was sure if Yuji could handle multiple fingers, we saw him get ready to kill him when Gojo fed him a second finger. So, basically, the Higher-ups were right, they should have killed Yuji before Sukuna had the chance to do more damage, and remember Yuji’s second mission against the Cursed Womb, he immediately lost control of Sukuna and had to kill himself to stop Sukuna from hurting Megumi. Then after being revived, by Sukuna no less, he was looking good, surely there’d be no problems, but here we are, from a statistical perspective, more lives would be still alive had Yuji been executed. And that’s why Yuji has to keep going, save more lives or else the amount killed by his continued existence would be higher. By choosing not to die, the people in Shibuya died because of him.

Usually opening songs are used when the main character is winning against the final boss or something, or just at the happy ending. Here, its used when yuji's at his lowest instead 😂 so evil 😊 sukuna is such a menace

It didn't need to be any better, but there were SOME parts in the fight that weren't on the same level as the rest. Somewhere in the middle when the 'metal' kicks in, it's not quite as good as the beginning of the fight and the end. Definitely due to time constraints... If they gave them another week, it would have been slightly even more awesome and the animators wouldn't have had to die animating it.... Anyways in the end we got an amazing visual spectacle, very much reminded me of broly vs gogeta or something :)

There could have been more details on the buildings. I get that they were going for a different aesthetic but a little more detail wouldn't hurt. Also the 'edges' of the character look a little rough , like they have been sketched and not fully drawn (only in a few scenes like when megumin was summoning mahoraga).

Yuji's breakdown hits even harder if you consider that he's not just blaming himself for not being able to stop Sukuna, he's realizing that path to saving the most people, the thing he set out to do by becoming a sorcerer, was to simply not try and let himself die to take Sukuna with him.

It sucks that it was incomplete and missing cuts, but what can you do. The fight was disjointed and didn’t flow all that comprehensively, but those imperfections did make for a unique visual and presentational identity for the fight.
Anime and episode of the year for me 🔥 season 2 from hidden inventory to this episode has been absolutely peak. It’s amazing when you’re hype for so long reading an amazing manga and it’s adaptation does it justice. Bless Gege & the animators.

Just a heads up there’s a good chance the anime ep won’t be coming out next week. Multiple animators have been talking about how hellish production has been even though it risks them getting fired (basically the episodes are getting done maybe an hour or 2 before release) and teams have been extremely over worked. The animators asked for a break in episodes but Mappa denied it. So many animators are leaving that production will likely stop

Mappa for example has such a crazy schedule that the animators are producing these episodes in 7 days. The Japanese work like and culture is different. Workers at the studio have echoed this same thing. Mappa isn’t the only studio doing this but they’re for sure being called out about it.

Yes the art was a bit under-detailed in some frames because of the time constraints, but the animation and movement quality that they achieved is still spectacular and should be appreciated. These animators have incredible talent and I really hope they get a break from their conditions
I must have watched something else b/c this was the worst animation I’ve seen in JJK. A whole lot of action hidden behind 5 fps. It reminded me of the Naruto vs pain fight when he came back with sage mode. It sucks that this is the last ep for while. This ep clearly shows the animation team was at the brink. I was actually disappointed watching it b/c Ik it could have been way better. It looked I was seeing the literal seeing storyboard in most of the sequences
Ngl now i think bout it.. Sukuna rlly coulda been handled by now if they played it better- I mean they said having someone able to eat sukuna fingers is like a RARE chance. If you kept feedin like 3-5 at a time and threw someone stronger than that in that time period at em till all of em were gone, prolly coulda saved a LOT more lives.
That's the reason they blamed Gojo after the incident and said it's a crime to unseal him. He pushed for Yuji not being executed and got sealed, Sukuna basically regaining his full power in the process in the modern era.

Mahoraga is the translation from Sanskrit(Buddism, Hinduism Jainism) Makora is the translation from Katakana(used in japanese to directly translate foreign words into japanese pronunciation) Both names refer to the same mythical being so it doesnt really matter. But saying that the only name is Makora is kinda incorrect :/
woah woah lets not say the "animation was perfect" it was a good and fun episode but animation was sloppy at times but we allow it because a fight like this is meant to be chaos.
Yeah but the highs of the animation were so undoubtedly amazing that it pretty much overshadows its bad also if you are talking about the characters stretching and breaking model that is just stylistic animation not really "unfinished" it is supposed to kind of give an intense feel which always looks unique especially for a series like this considering S1 was more constricted to 1 style and it didn't look bad but the compositing clearly could not follow the animation like in season 2

i mean, thats what you get when you overwork your animators with a severly cut pay and an absurd amount of work hours. Which leads to them having a massive social breakdown whenever they enter their workplace. Couple this with the fact that Mappa is basically forcing them to create these episodes on the spot, not even days before or anything but literal hours before the ep is meant to be released. Then you get met with some sub-par animation. But even with all this, i still think this ep was amazing to say the least.

Just a heads up there’s a good chance the anime ep won’t be coming out next week. Multiple animators have been talking about how hellish production has been even though it risks them getting fired (basically the episodes are getting done maybe an hour or 2 before release) and teams have been extremely over worked. The animators asked for a break in episodes but Mappa denied it. So many animators are leaving that production will likely stop

@@idfcpeople8407 you missed what I said. No the episodes aren’t made instantly. Production isn’t done on all the episodes. Mappa for example has such a crazy schedule that the animators are producing these episodes in 7 days. The Japanese work like and culture is different. Workers at the studio have echoed this same thing. Mappa isn’t the only studio doing this but they’re for sure being called out about it.

Before we start looking at the name, let's take a look at the name of our shikigami in Japanese - there's a lot to see there!
八握剣異戒神将魔虚羅 [yatsuka-no tsurugi ikaishinshō makora].
This set of hieroglyphs can be decomposed into:
1. 八握剣 [yatsuka-no tsurugi] "eight-fist-long sword" - a reference to Totsuka no Tsurugi - a legendary sword in Japanese mythology, owned by Susanoo, the god of wind and lord of storms.
2. 異戒 [ikai] - “another/changed commandment (of the Buddha)”
3. 神将 [shinshō] - "divine general"
4. 魔虚羅 [makora] - Mahala
First of all, we are interested in phrases 1 and 4, since they play an important role in the manga. Although you shouldn’t forget about 2 and 3 - we’ll talk about them later in the text.
So, Mahala in Sanskrit, or Makora in Japanese, is one of the 12 Divine general protectors of the Buddha Bhaisajyaguru. The pronunciation of the name varies according to tradition. Just know that in the Japanese fandom he is called Makora-chan.
Where did Mahoraga come from then? Looking at the hieroglyphs, you will understand that there is no Mahoraga there.
Here the English translation played a cruel joke. In the VIZ translation, Makora/Mahala became Mahoraga and still remains so. But they didn’t take this name out of thin air!
Mahoragi is a race of deities in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. They are often depicted as anthropomorphic creatures with serpentine bodies below the waist. However, their appearance may vary depending on the artistic tradition, sometimes having snake heads with humanoid bodies. They are believed to be associated with large snakes such as the python.
They also constitute one of the eight classes of deities (ashtasena) who are said to protect the Dharma. Dharma is the "wheel of law", stylized as a wheel with eight spokes; also called the good emblem of Buddhism - one of its eight “jewels”.
The snake's tail coming from the head, the human body, the wheel above the head - everything comes together!
There is only one explanation - Gege combined different elements of these two creatures and created our general Mahala! But still, it would be more correct to call him Mahala/Makora, because... that’s his name.
Also, the Dharma wheel connected to a sword, or Yatsuka no Tsurugi, is one of the Sacred Treasures on which the Megumi technique is based. But we will tell you about it later in a separate article!

Malevolent Kitchen is acceptable due to Sukuna being a cannibal and makes references to cooking/eating as he pleases. As for Makora….. English subs have its moments🤷🏻♀️

This anaimtion could've been better and hoenstly especially in the begining with megumi it was horribly sloppy, and for the fact that animators are overworked at mappa, or producing these episodes on the spot, not days before hand is just sad.
true, some moments or kinda goofy and not completed. if they delayed a month or more to refine it, i really dont mind. the fight would've been top 1, yet they are serverly overworked leading to unfinished moments.

Tbh it worked for me. Specials had that melancholic vibe to it and to have it play after everything was fucked up felt right, like Yuji is Gege' "Special" torture toy
it brought the foreshadowing from the intro into full focus.

Yes the art was a bit under-detailed in some frames because of the time constraints, but the animation and movement quality that they achieved is still spectacular and should be appreciated. These animators have incredible talent and I really hope they get a break from their conditions
I must have watched something else b/c this was the worst animation I’ve seen in JJK. A whole lot of action hidden behind 5 fps. It reminded me of the Naruto vs pain fight when he came back with sage mode. It sucks that this is the last ep for while. This ep clearly shows the animation team was at the brink. I was actually disappointed watching it b/c Ik it could have been way better. It looked I was seeing the literal seeing storyboard in most of the sequences

Ngl now i think bout it.. Sukuna rlly coulda been handled by now if they played it better- I mean they said having someone able to eat sukuna fingers is like a RARE chance. If you kept feedin like 3-5 at a time and threw someone stronger than that in that time period at em till all of em were gone, prolly coulda saved a LOT more lives.

That's the reason they blamed Gojo after the incident and said it's a crime to unseal him. He pushed for Yuji not being executed and got sealed, Sukuna basically regaining his full power in the process in the modern era.

Both pronunciations and way to read is correct.
Mahoraga is the translation from Sanskrit(Buddism, Hinduism Jainism)
Makora is the translation from Katakana(used in japanese to directly translate foreign words into japanese pronunciation)
Both names refer to the same mythical being so it doesnt really matter. But saying that the only name is Makora is kinda incorrect :/

woah woah lets not say the "animation was perfect" it was a good and fun episode but animation was sloppy at times but we allow it because a fight like this is meant to be chaos.
True we shouldnt meat ride the animation just because of what's going on at Mappa. Some parts in the middle were clearly unfinished
Yeah but the highs of the animation were so undoubtedly amazing that it pretty much overshadows its bad also if you are talking about the characters stretching and breaking model that is just stylistic animation not really "unfinished" it is supposed to kind of give an intense feel which always looks unique especially for a series like this considering S1 was more constricted to 1 style and it didn't look bad but the compositing clearly could not follow the animation like in season 2

This episodes animation sucked!!!!!! I have loved the rest of the season but wow what a let down! This was one of my favorite fights in the manga and i have to say they butchered it. I felt like i was watching an american cartoon
i mean, thats what you get when you overwork your animators with a severly cut pay and an absurd amount of work hours. Which leads to them having a massive social breakdown whenever they enter their workplace. Couple this with the fact that Mappa is basically forcing them to create these episodes on the spot, not even days before or anything but literal hours before the ep is meant to be released. Then you get met with some sub-par animation. But even with all this, i still think this ep was amazing to say the least.
With the nature of how chaotic it was, I really enoyed. Animationn downgraded in some parts I admit but I thoroughly enjoyed it still. My opinion.
