Live Performance is Happening at CoHo. In this our 25th Anniversary Year, CoHo Productions is experimenting with ways to present theater, kicking off this endeavor with "Black Box: Page to Stage" - A virtual limited run in support of Covid-19 arts and culture relief.
To get the experience started, actors Marcella Laasch and James Luster took to a socially distanced stage, filming four scenes from Cole's premier novel, Black Box. Based loosely around the black box theater CoHo calls home, this work tackles the challenges of creating an intimate experience from a distance.
Select scenes from Black Box will be released once a week, and patrons who purchase a "ticket" to the Page to Stage experience will receive VIP access to all video footage in advance. Additionally, CoHo will be hosting two virtual Zoom talkbacks about the Page to Stage experience where audience members will have the chance to interact with the creative team in real-time.
Funds raised from this campaign will go towards direct relief for local arts and cultural organizations. 75% will be allocated to the Oregon Arts and Culture Recovery Program established by Oregon Community Foundation, with the remainder going to CoHo, whose theater has been closed since March.
Tickets are on sale now through CoHo’s online box office and will be priced at a suggested donation amount. A patron purchasing a “Box Seat” (suggested donation of $50) will receive a copy of Black Box and invitations to the online talkbacks. Patrons purchasing a “Front & Center Box Seat” (suggested donation of $100) will receive a signed copy of the novel with a custom inscription and a call-in by the author to a book club of the patron’s choice, as well as invitations to the online talkbacks. All ticket prices include shipping and handling fees for the distribution of Black Box.
All patrons will receive priority access to the Page to Stage video footage, scenes from which will be released on July 31, August 7, August 14, and September 4.
