  • In this video I go over the main reasons your motorcycle dies when hot. I'm experiencing this issue with my 1984 Honda CB700sc Nighthawk and have replaced many parts to remedy this issue. Watch the video to see how to fix it.

Same issues here.. and as you said trying to diagnose the issue saves money. but is still difficult sometimes to pinpoint it. Good luck, hope you find it

Good message, we all can learn and as we learn we'll all get better. Like you said throwing money at stuff is good to some extent, but knowing the problem and fixing it - much better 😉. You'll get it buddy!!!

I used to be a TV repairman (yeah that was a thing years ago 😆) and diagnosing the problem was key to fixing the TV, vs shotgunning in some parts.
Good luck on getting the Honda figured out!

Hey bro , please help me out .... my motorcycle runs good until i fuel it up .. after filling petrol into my motorcycle turns off or stalls randomly and " I HAVE TO TOGGLE KILL SWITCH OFF AND ON " only then ignition switch works ... what might be the problem ?

I have the same issue with my KZ440 quitting at random with no spark. I replaced the coil and igniter but it didn't fix the problem. Bike still quits with no spark. The only thing left is the pickup coil which I haven't been able to fine. So what I'm going to do as soon as the weather gets better is to run a fused wire straight from the battery to the coil to bypass the ignition and kill switches. I'm suspecting a bad ignition switch. Sometimes I can ride 50 miles and it never quits or sometimes I go only 50 feet then it quits so I don't think it's the pickup coil. If it doesn't quit with the temp wire then it's probably the ignition switch as I've check and cleaned all the wiring. If it quits with the temp wire then the only thing left is the pickup coil. I'll know in a couple of months I hope.

That line of thinking makes sense. I hope you figure it out dude! I know how much of a pain it can be haha. I don't think I'd do anything else, sounds like you've got a good handle on it. Keep me posted!

Been lucky so as as every time it quits it eventually starts again and I can "limp" back home. Sometimes it quits in my garage as it's warming up with no spark. Just doesn't seem like it's the pickup coil. I hope the constant voltage straight from the battery will correct the problem. If it's the ignition switch then I'll have to either tear it apart and hopefully fix the contacts in it OR use the temp wire with a switch to turn off the juice to the coil when shutting down. I will keep you posted on how it goes. Thanks for your reply.

Also could be a bad ground somewhere. I would double check all your grounds

I was able to get a new pickup coil on Ebay but that didn't work either. I've replaced everything...coil, igniter ,pickup coil, new plug wires and caps, new plugs and ran 12v straight from the battery to the coil and igniter bypassing the ignition switch that I was suspicious of but ...no go. I am going to take it down to the river to see if the bike will float. If it does I'll make a raft out of it and do some fishing.

It's likely electrical. Check for spark when your bike dies

      @@MotoMango had the EXACT same
Issue with a 2 stroke, turned out to be CDI, the problem with that is they didn’t make it anymore. And because it was a KTM, no aftermarket company remade any. Ended up swaping it with a new models ignition system. Worked flawless

It was the spark unit in the end. Replaced the spark unit and had no problems after that.
