Note how controlled and precise Master Roshi's Kamehameha was. The beam didn't bleed off any excess energy, and it caused next to no collateral damage. In the same manner that the Super Saiyan forms waste energy, so do energy attacks, and in the same way that Goku and Vegeta have trained to contain all of their energy, Roshi has trained to perfect the Kamehameha. It _is_ the perfect Kamehameha, and it lets him hit far above his weight class, which, like Hit, proves that technique is just as important as raw power.
We have to remember that the ssj forms are fueled by rage, so there will be energy leaking always. But props to the master, he's over 300 years old and fights like a boss

Hey don't forget OG Dragon Ball, when Goku first got to revisit his dead Grandpa in the middle of a fight, and after he figured it out, he dropped the entire fight and just starts balling his eyes out, while Bulma takes notice and gets a big dose of reality about Goku, that one he really is just a little kid at the start of the series, and two, he's probably the most alone person she's met yet, stays stronger than steel, and can also break like a twig at the same time. Dragon Ball all around,Og, Z, and S like to humanize Goku at least every now and then.
When Beerus asks for Roshi's name at the end of the episode it is out of respect- something he affords very few people. For Beerus to truly respect Roshi and his performance in the tournament speaks volumes to his skill as a fighter.
Notice how Roshi is the the only human to give his life to extend the chances of the domain that Beerus owns to remain. Beerus took that to heart I'd imagine. Krillin has died for earth idk how many times, but Roshi in front of Beerus literally died to protect his universe. Hits different yknow

This is probably the best of Roshi I’ve seen in all of DB. He managed to take out three Uni. 4 fighters like a boss! And yes, this episode made me tear up too.

The fact that Beerus acknowledged master Roshi and asked for his name that means that he is something to him as well and should deserve respect. The lines that master Roshi said while doing the kamehameha were from the OG Dragon Ball when he trained Goku and Krilin as kids in the turtle hermit school cried a little when I heard that the first time
Not only that but it was stated master roshi might be the only human closer to achieve ultra instinct

Roshi doesn’t get enough credit this guy is over a hundred years old and he was the only human who got most eliminations and stayed longer we have him to thank for making goku what he is now mad respect and the fact that goku cried shows what a legendary old man he is
Better yet, at the start of Dragon Ball, he is stated to be over 300 years old. By this point in the show, he’s probably around 340 or 350 years old, and he’s still able to fight like this.
@@thesmiths0319 It technically wasn't ultra instinct, but he did demonstrate his skill and experience by being able to dodge Jiren's attacks, and said some things that may have given Goku a hint of how to tap into UI.

That was a heartwarming episode, it was also nice to see Master Roshi doing his part and rising above his limitations.
The Roshi speech hit me hard when I first saw it. I instantly got like a flashback of all the memories they had in the OG Dragonball and even a bit from Dragon ball Z. Great video as always keep your content up!

Quitela is actually the second strongest GoD next to beerus and they were even the last 2 standing in the GoD tournament in the manga.
Both beerus and quitela could one shot everyone in the tournament at the same time including jiren.

The last ones standing at the one if my memory serves correctly were beerus quitela and rumshi the rest were all beaten and unconscious in the floor even gene.
The top 3 gods of destruction are 1. Beerus 2. Gin 3. Either quitela or vermouth the clown guy

One thing to mention about how much of an impact roshi has had on Goku’s life is, remember back to Goku Black and how he said with full proudness and confidence to goku that he Killed Goten and Chichi using his body, he didn’t even cry at that point

can you imagine if Roshi had actually died there? what pain of loss and rage would have pushed Goku to? he would have destroyed everyone in that moment!
I'm not sure if he would or not! There was no villain to express that rage as Roshi poured his life essence into his attack.
that episode uppercut me in the feels when i saw it live. My mom was dying at this time in hospice so that combined with this episode holy shit I was ugly crying like crazy.

The first time Roshi had gotten any serious spotlight since DB. The tournament was such a fantastic way to give him some love and show off his techniques. I felt the same way about Krillin so it sucked to see him go so early but tbf he did get to show some stuff in the training episode in the woods and against Gohan and Goku.
Man master roshi going all out for the powered max kamehameha while giving his famous inspiration speech brought tears to my eyes cause that’s the goat of martial arts

They're both in their mid 40s now so obviously he means a lot to them he was also Goku's first ever Master

Yeah people who only got to watch Z back in the day tend to underestimate how much Roshi means to Goku (and Krillin)
Next to his grandpa, Roshi is the closest Goku has to a life-long parent really, and to Krillin he's like the only parent even.
Also I often see people wonder why they were so frantic about Roshi possibly dying here, thinking he could be brought back with a wish - but it's a known fact that people who died of natural causes can't be wished back, so if Roshi died from exhaustion due to his old age, there is a *chance* he couldn't be revived.

I freakin love how Roshi is used in TOP. It's a love letter to the original dragon ball series where there was all kinds of strange techniques and it wasn't always dependant on strength. Where as in Z it's just "mo' powah" all the time. Super got better in that aspect though, but still mostly power scaling

The full context of this scene is only implied. Had Roshi died, he wouldn't be able to be resurrected by the Dragon Balls because it'd be of "natural causes" (exhaustion IS a natural cause). They'd need the Super Dragon Balls in order to do that. That's why Goku and Kuririn were in such a shock.

The biggest thing to keep in mind is that Roshi is the only TRUE master of the Kamehameha Wave. Goku might put in godly ammounts of power, but he's got just enough control to not be blasted the other way
