Blogger you are missing something here, Lara have the highest runs in one inning in test cricket but,he does not have the highest runs into a test match at all. The batsman who holds that record before Lara playing test cricket in 1988 against india, is Graham Gooch at Lord's cricket ground. He scored 333 in the first inning and 123 in the 2nd innings,making a total of 456 runs into a test match. Because 2 innings is a test, so Lara only holds the record for in a inning, but not the highest runs into a test match.
