    Thank you so much for this video! My daughter was denied virtual school through the tdsb so I'm going to homeschool her.

    I don't have children but I'm interested in learning about alternative education methods. I think that something like this would have benefited me when I was a child since I had difficulty learning. I know a couple of families that home school their children.

      We both went to public school, but each had parents who worked in education who would really help us to continue the learning after school and become lifelong learners, following our interests and passions.

    We are planning on finishing out this year of school (SK) and sending our letter of intent this summer, to begin homeschooling in September. Would there be any need to notify the principal? Would she still be on their enrolment list in the fall and they would wonder where she is? Or would the letter to the school board suffice?

    • @RaisingAtoZ
      @RaisingAtoZ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The school board and the school communicate with each other, so if you send your letter of intent to the school board, the school should find out. However, it is considered polite to also notify the principal. You could send the same letter.

    Sorry to jump on an old post but are you legally required to teach French in Ontario? From your video I'm getting the impression that it's not but I thought it was. I'm going to be starting homeschool in a year or two so I'm just looking forward to what I need to know

    • @RaisingAtoZ
      @RaisingAtoZ  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope! You are don't have to teach French in Ontario and there are no required subjects or topics either.

    Hi, like your videos! I am really interested in homeschooling for my daughters, as Canadian kids living overseas, can they join Ontario home schooling as well ? Should do any registration in the government system?

    • @RaisingAtoZ
      @RaisingAtoZ  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a tricky question. It would depend on their citizenship, your primary place of residence and if you have close ties with Ontario (property, family, visit often). I'm not really the expert on international rules about homeschooling. I would urge you to look into where you live first, to make sure that you won't fall into any trouble

    In Ontario how long can I stay abroad whiles I homeschool my kids?

    • @RaisingAtoZ
      @RaisingAtoZ  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not legal advise...but it would depend on when you become a resident of the area. Once you become a permanent resident of a new area, you would have to follow their rules. But if you're just visiting for a few weeks or even months, you should be fine.

    I don't have children. But I'd like to build a school where children and learn and thrive.

    • @RaisingAtoZ

      There are some great alternative schools out there. Unfortunately none where we live.

    What about if my child decide to go back to school on high school, should I submit the proof of his study so he continue starting school?

    • @RaisingAtoZ
      @RaisingAtoZ  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should certainly talk to the school. They'll want to see work to access what high school level to enroll the child. From what we've seen, different schools and school boards, process information differently. Some just pop the kids into class, some give more credit than others, some have the kids take a test. But they usually get credit for work done previously.

    My daughter is 3 years old and I'm debating on homeschooling her. She hasn't been registered so I'm researching to see what I should do.
    She goes to her dads usually every Thursday and every other weekend but I'm the primary caregiver would this be a problem?

    • @RaisingAtoZ
      @RaisingAtoZ  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Tamarah. If you're in Ontario, then there is nothing you need to do. Our kids have never been registered with any schoolboard. If you live somewhere else, check the rules in your area.
      For a 3-year-old, you don't need to do much, if any, sitdown learning time. If she is interested in letters and numbers, keep the workbook time to a mininum. Play is so important at that age. Her dad can get involved by sharing his interests, hobbies and passions with her. With that, he'll have some buy-in to the whole "homeschooling" thing.
