I tried both the arcade version and the MD/Genesis version of the game via emulation and I gotta say the arcade wins by a long shot. The sense of speed, frame rate, and input lag are all greater. But there is one thing in both versions that really sucks, and that's the dreadful timer. It makes the game absolutely one of the hardest driving games I have ever played. You'd have to play the game religiously to beat the tracks above beginner. Still, even with an awful timer, the game is wonderful for its time. It's a milestone in gaming.
I have the prototype cart for this game. And there are color changes in the stages, differant scenery and a differant title screen. I only have 3 prototypes in my collection and im glad to have it. Great game. I only have the triple play cart besides it to do comparisons.
Hilariously, the MSX port, of Hang-On, was put onto the Sega SG-1000, and renamed Hang-On II, on the title screen...! Anyway, I love the Hang-On games ~ one of the best feelings, in gaming, is charging around, at full speed - exhaust flames - in Super Hang-On, while still narrowly completing a course... It's nice, the way you start off with Ricardo Montoya, as your free mechanic, before all the others charge you, increasingly higher amounts, for their services...! The 'Mechanics Garage' tune, is based on the 'Shop Theme', from Fantasy Zone, too. 🎮😁
Great video! I love super hang on for the longest time I only had it on the Mega Games 1, Then I got lucking this year and found the single version for mega drive for £1.99! Yu Suzuki is a complete legend!

That's really cool. Where did you get that from? Must be worth a lot!

I've played the full bike version at Arcade Club recently and I'm surprised how well it has aged.
Yeah, I think it's pretty timeless. Well before it's time for sure!

Thanks Thrift! I'm glad you love the game too. That was a great deal you got there.
Great video mate. We need more!
Thanks mate. I'm working on trying to get out consistently good stuff, but it takes a whole bloody day of work to make one of these videos!
TRexSpaceStation yeah I hear you there. It takes about 20-30 hours to make my own vids.
I assume you already own M2's brilliant conversion for the 3DS?
I don't actually, but I remember you saying it's good a while back. Maybe I'll check it out.
Definitely a must buy! Super Hang On isn't part of the Sega Classics Collection cart on the 3DS, so you have to get the download.
Great video! Subbed
Thanks, glad you liked.
I like the Wii console version
Wii virtual console had really decent versions of retro games.
