If he is not a once-in-a-lifetime player in the strictest sense, he is really really close! Other than Kareem easily the most underrated great player in history.
That's my GOAT. In my eyes Duncan is the true greatest of all time, yes I'm a very biased diehard Spurs fan and a San Antonio native. But Duncan means everything to this city, he along with Popp, Robinson, Ginobili, Parker, Elliot and many more put this city on the map. We of San Antonio will always be forever grateful what he brought to this great city. We love you Duncan. Greatest to ever lace em up
I'ma diehard Spurs fan bt MJ is clearly #1 n undebatable...the debate begins at 2. LeFraud James is my 8th best player in history n checks all the boxes except the most important:killer instinct. Duncan had it all.
The fact that you mention Parker almost last tells me you're completely biased, even as a Spurs fan. Tony should be the first name you mention after Pop (maybe) when you cite players who mean SPURS.
A lot of people today don't realize how big of a monster Tim Duncan was under the basket! His body position, his footwork, his timing, his length and agility! He was an absolute nightmare for opposing players in three different decades! Man I miss seeing him play ball!
Mr. Fundamental. He has the move for a big guy. He was my favorite player right until he retired. He wasn’t flashy and didn’t live for the media spotlight unlike the players we have today. He was a man of few words but his prowess on the court was undeniable!
Indeed, the name GOAT PF isn't called for no reason. If he was more flashy and play for big cities, he would earn more credit in the discussion of the top 5 players all time.
A Spurs fan from childhood in SA and am so grateful to have watched Tim Duncan from the start of his career to the end of it. I admire him so much as a player and a human. Truly the greatest of all time in my opinion. There will never be another Tim Duncan. #21 🐐
He had everything needed to be a franchise player. Timmy was a top notch leader. He was great on both ends of the court. He was a very good passer and shooter.Timmy also had good ball handling skills. He had a complete and unstoppable post game. He could face up and use the glass at will. He may be the best all around defender the game has seen...great rim protector(maybe the best ever). He anchor a two decade run of excellence for the Spurs. One of the greatest winners in basketball history!! Top 5 in the history of league in my book!!!
Steve Rakes first off, wilt didn’t average 23 blocks a game. You made that up. 2, wilt didn’t win MVP that year in a player vote era. Finally, that doesn’t control for pace or usage. In per 100 his stats look somewhat mortal. One other thing: the lakers in the mid 60s had the chance to pick up wilt for nothing and the players voted against it 9-2. A lakers team who couldn’t get past Russell’s Celtics said no to Wilt. Think about that
Tim's game was simply so cerebral with excellent foot work. He always put himself in great position defensively and offensive. He didn't even waste energy on celebrations.
He's straight up _schooling_ some of the greatest: Kobe, Shaq, Lebron, KD, Westbrook and making fools of DPOYs like Marc Gasol or Ben Wallace. Just because he isn't flashy doesn't mean it's not spectacular. If you've ever played any ball, you notice the exquisite timing of those blocks, the hustle to go after every shot, the footwork, the body position... Not to mention that these highlights come from THREE different decades. Best PF to ever set foot on a court.
Indeed. He has every skill a big man need and master them. Post moves, hook shots, layups, running jumpers, 16-18" mid range jumpers. He can run offense and make plays on left or right without any weaknesses. You say defense, rebounding, shot-blocking, rim-protecting, you name it, he was one of the best in NBA history. Best PF ever, and top 5 player all time, in my list.
The thing most people forget is that Tim unlike most big men was a Gamer, a very competitive player like the guards. He controlled his emotions but exploded whenever he needed to.
This week i've been starting off my day watching Duncan highlights. it gets me pumped. my favorite aspect of Duncan's game is that he is almost stoic as he makes these plays. There's a calmness to Duncan's game that suggests this intense focus, and that moving down the court in the basketball battlefield is priority. I like that this video also shows Duncan's defensive plays, the side of his game which complements his gracefulness in the paint. Such a unique, well-rounded baller and one of the greatest all-time.
That was such an Awesome Timmy MIX, an absolute treat to watch.. Major Props to the creator.. Great to be reminded of what dunking beast he was when was young. That one over AK47 , the one off the pump fake is so LARGE. GRATEFUL for the time put in to make this mix. thanks
Thanks for your appreciation! Young Timmy was a monster in the paint area and could destroy any defenders. Look at those bank shots, triple threats and slam dunks. Simply unstoppable!!!!
he was substance over style and thats why i loved watching him. He was an inclusive not exclusive as a teammate. When you trademark move is a bank shot its shows that you are substance. keep up the awesome work mate.
Wow amazing compilation Zhuge! I can see you are a true Spurs fan. There are a lot of compilations of all these wings and guards all over the league, but very few for great Big men. Fact is Tim Duncan is the second greatest big man of all time (right next to Kareem) and probably the most versatile when you take into account Most Efficient Volume Scoring, Passing, Elite Rebounding, Rim Protection and overall Defensive and Offensive awareness. Just such a very intelligent human being and this extends to his basketball as well. A very mature individual who came into the league already a Top 10 MVP and All-NBA 1st team in his rookie year. People mention about Pop, Parker & Manu etc. etc. but the fact is Duncan was the one who carried them on both ends of the court. He was their anchor, the foundation of a Spurs dynasty lasting 19 seasons with All 50+ wins seasons and 5 Championships (could have been 7-8 if not for the mistakes of Pop, Manu & Parker). Top 5 player of All Time.
Thanks for your compliment! I think Timmy is not just the GOAT PF ever, but also the most complete player on both ends that ever live. He could score in the paint at will and protect the rim and block the shots for guards coming in. Could you imagine if there is no 0.4 and Manu's silly foul in 06, Tim would have 5 straight titles in a row (7 rings in total). The most admirable thing about Timmy is that he have beaten everyone who beat him before. Shaq, Kobe, Dirk, Durant, LeBron, you name it. He is just so consistent and so great that people usually take it for granted and ignore his greatness. I agree with you, he is absolutely top 5 player of all time.
His humbleness is what I respect the most. Yes, he showed anger. Yes, he was intense, but never acted as if he was above everyone. But of course, his skills were out of this world. A true basketball player.

wow. awesome. really very nice played like a super human. he is a legend. I like his playing tricks.
He truly is. And he is considered the greatest PF of all time and my personal opinion of top 5 players all time.=]
The young Duncan is an ultimate weapon
He is so strong
so true...
People tends to underestimate Duncan's greatness
Yet he was a beast, he could dominate both ends of the floor when he was in his prime
Duncan, the Greatest PF ever, period
