I disagree. It was a close fight on the feet, TJ had better control, sandhagen landed cleaner shots. At the end of the day it could have went either way, and with a fight so close, control time often matters a lot.
@@yesh9602in a close fight like this I feel damage should be the first thing cause if the fighters landed the same amount of strikes but one fighters face is fucked up I think as a judge ima go for the guy that isnt fucked up yeah tj was advancing most of the time but he was getting pieced up most of the time he did have the leg kicks and couple of clean shots but he didn’t do enough to win this fight
This fight had a terrible impact on the division. It earned TJ a title shot in a fight he clearly lost. On top of it, he sat out over a year, held the division up and then fought with a bad injury, knowing he had no chance of winning.
@@jwinston1995 i agree, i feel like Sandhagen had him on the feet but not by much, whereas TJ was a lot better in terms of wrestling and forward pressure
@@Luca-rj5puit's not about forward pressure or wrestling if you do no damage, the scoring criteria puts damage above everything else, if your landing more damage you win the round regardless of if your getting pressured, which is the exact situation here, Cory landed way better way harder on the back foot and got out of the way of counters a good amount, he should have won via the criteria of mma
Such a close fight gave it to Sandhagen that footwork is so complex even against the footwork king in TJ Dillashaw it was so hard for him to catch the patterns , but credit to Dillashaw for fighting Sandhagen for 4 rounds with 1 knee.

If you watch Cory fight in slow motion it makes you appreciate what he’s doing all that much more. They always say he’s allusive and I didn’t really see it till now but there were times Cory would take these angles on tj and cory would be going on like 3 punch combos on tj and tj won’t even be looking at him lol. It’s like he dosnt even know who’s hitting him
I cant not express enough the beauty sandhagen showed in his striking in this fight. the complex foot work, the dynamic strikes, the timing. masterful. So bummed about the Umar fight,
Taking that fight with Henry, the extremely brutal cut to 125, and his bad decision to take EPO, literally ruined TJ’s career. He didn’t look the same in this fight, and after this, everything went downhill. Sad ending to an amazing career.

close but clear sandhagen win. grappling and control time was vastly overvalued in this fight. sandhagen won on damage and effective striking. the "close" rounds due to TJs control shouldnt be considered that close considering the edge sandhagen had in damage and striking which is a more important scoring factor than control

If you know the current MMA scoring criteria you know Sandhagen won this fight. Can we stop acting like there isn’t definitive criteria and it could go either way? Damage is everything rn and it’s clear to see sandhagen did more, hurt him in the striking and the grappling badly.
Sandhagen is unlucky with judges. He absolutely won this fight. And in his previous fight he won every round and one of the judges gave it to Chito.
Listen to sandhagen says on jre about the one judge who gave it to chito, he has a theory on him
the lango lango fights running back and taking advantage of his wingspan. lost the fight. blood doesnt sets the score.
