Oh, ikey14, it was an absolutely marvellous performance, both vocally and with regard to the acting. I watched the livestream on Friday, and it touched my heart and soul. Now I keep listening to the videos of highlights shared here, and I have also come back to this video to listen to it again. I simply can't have enough.
@ Julia H - I also saw that livestream and marveled at the portrayal of intense anguish and the beauty of this music. So glad the video version was streamed and highlights can now be seen by all... a real treasure
@Love Music The Vienna State Opera livestreams certain performances. You can buy a virtual "ticket" for a very reasonable price on their website. That's how I watched the Samson et Dalilah performance there with Roberto Alagna and Elina Garanca, and it was the best perfomance I had seen for a long time. I'm in the same time zone, so I had no problem watching it in real time; however, you can apparently even choose the time when you actually watch the performance based on your time zone. I'm not sure how well that works though: In a different time zone, my husband also bought a "ticket", and we wanted to watch the performance at the same time to share the experience, but he only got an error message (then and later as well), and we have no idea why. He had to be satisfied with listening to a radio transmission. It may still work very well for you though. You can also sign up to watch recorded versions of earlier performances. I hope this Samson et Dalila will eventually turn up there, too, so I can rewatch it one day.
