薏仁的翻譯其實不算錯, 這是藥劑學, 草藥會這樣講. semen代表種仁, 所以一般脫皮後的種子, 像桃仁, 杏仁都是semen.

哈哈哈，不錯不錯，那個“你好嗎？”的例子，真的是點出文化/習慣的差異。After several years of living in America, I was still not sure about how to respond when greeted with a simple "how are you doing". I'd try to reflect my life that day, was I sad or was I happy? And once a guy greeted with "What's up", or something like that, I started to try to recount the latest news happened in our circle.

最好的翻譯是連語境也顧到，信達雅是嚴復提出，信是還可以相信，達是顧及文化背景，雅最難要有高水平文字造詣啦。

感謝你的分享，有個議題能否麻煩你調研分享一下，關於美國的Tip文化，哈。因為一般東方文化沒有付小費的習慣，但到美國時我們一般會給，我只是好奇想了解，其實若是因為老闆給服務生的薪水太低，服務生需仰賴客戶提供小費有其他收入的管道，Why政府不要求餐廳經營者應給予合理的薪資給員工才對？這或許會是不錯可以討論的文化差異議題。

以前剛去美國時，連超市結帳時，店員也熱情問候How are you?How are you doing?...當時真的會緊張，我知道不能回答，I am fine, thank you. 但真的會有I am fine, thank you. 衝出嘴巴的衝動，很緊張。
語言就是多聽、說出口，習慣就好。
真的很好笑，每次台灣的學生被問How are you? 都會立刻在三秒鐘內一連串子彈的速度說出"I'm fine thank you and you?" 問一百個，答案都一樣。
我也想學日語，希望Christina 西班牙語越來越好

Basically, how are you is just to expect you to answer “I’m fine” back. Unless you are close friend, then you can talk about more details. How are you? They just say hi, 問候. They don’t actually want to know what’s going on.
Fun fact in France , Netherland or Germany , it may seem to be superficial and fake . Because they never say it unless they really mean it .

How are you (doing)? = Como esta (usted)? = 別來無恙? = 元気？＝ 安怎(台) = ca va? = 點嘜? [粵] → to person in familiar-wise. I spoke Spanish (actually Argentine-Spanish = Castellano) while stayed in Los Angeles. Spanish is spoken in most California government institution. (West, Southwest of the U.S.A.) but not New York nor Michigan. I think going to Spanish from English is easier (listening/speaking-wise) cuz Spanish only has 5 vowels (a, e, i, o, u) compared to 23 vowels in English. 一樣5個母音 yet varied into 23 vowels. English tone (intonation) is closer to Taiwanese e.g.: English tone 語調有「入聲」. 例如 "at you" = 台語語調「入聲」的 "握手". ※ 台語, 粵語, 都是古漢語, 都有「入聲」--- 套用在下英文教學(已經不再靠教英文維生)的說法, 就是唇齒舌額就定發音的位置而不發音. 中文(漢語/普通話) 沒有「入聲」.

In all seriousness though, semen coicis is the latin name or scientific name for coix seed. It's an accurate translation. It's just pretty useless, since most people have never seen it before.
When I was looking for monkey head mushroom, I also kept an eye out for lion's mane (a more popular name in the American supermarkets). But I almost missed it because it was labeled as hericium erinaceus. 🤨
There is nothing wrong with using scientific names. There are so many items with ambiguous names at supermarkets. For example, you never know what "tilapia" refers to.
