The medal that Viggo is throwing in the river is the Mark of knighthood in Denmark - granted only by the king. The character Viggo is playing is essentially a Danish knight from "The Order of the Dannebrog"
Just saw Viggio and Vicky Krieps on MSNBC talking about this new movie. I believe one of them, hopefully both will win an Oscar. Viggio says this movie is about what women went through and actually still do, when their men go off to war. For Vicky her character is dealing with this during the civil war when he leaves to serve, leaving her alone in a very dangerous world. Viggo says this is something that has been overlooked. I agree. Viggio is an incredible incredible actor and he's directed this movie! I'm thrilled and can't wait to see it!
I would say its definitely NOT been overlooked given that this is the essential storyline and plot of all female characters in these types of movies for the past 30+ years. Its getting very old to see the only two roles for women be girl-boss-badass or victimized-assault-survivor. Neither of those are actually relatable for the vast majority of women because vast majority have never experienced those.
Just finished. Very good film. Love Viggo. The acting was top notch. Viggo is a very captivating and intelligent actor and apparently a great writer and director.
Viggo is not a good director, his first movie could have been amazing but was the example of how to ruin a good script and outstanding actors, and now I don't think a western is a good choice, besides it looks weird and artificial.
Great western. The drama is top notch. The actress is so charismatic and compelling. I want realism. Life is slow and gritty. Violence is short, fast, and done. It is already one of my top recommendations for westerns.
I did not expect that movie to be that good. The way actors play, the views, the scenario, the music, the suspens. We had a great time. Apparently Viggo did much more than directing he even composed the music.
Haven't been inside a movie theater in a loooonnngg time but I will definitely go see this one. I love anything with Viggo in it. He can make a movie standing still and I'll go watch it. lol
This film is a masterpiece. Impeccably shot and acted and meditative and profound character study of two souls navigating their love and moral responsibilities in the corrupt and formidable old west. An intricate work of art. Hats off, Viggo.
Oh! I want to see that! I've been a Viggo fan since high school! Also, there's no word about a DVD or Blu-ray release except for a Prime Video release. However, I chose not to do that since I believed there wouldn't be a new version of the 2019 film "Tolkien," so I purchased it on Prime Video. But eventually, there was a DVD release! I was in a conundrum about whether to keep it or buy the DVD while it's still on my watchlist.
Tombstone set the bar so high, I haft to delete it out my mind to watch new westerns or I want like them🤷🏽♂️. But hopefully it’s good, definitely about to watch it.
Youll be disappointed if tombstone is your favourite movie, its not even close to appaloosa.. This is drama heavy, only one lame gunfight at the beginning and lame not really a gunfight at the end XD
Viggo was excellent in 'Green Book', in which he received a Best Actor nom, and looking forward to another gr8 performance in this sprawling western :)
From the thumbnail I honestly thought this was about Micah from Red Dead 2, from 15 seconds in I still had the same thought and got very excited. I'm a newbie to RD2 but not to Westerns and this still looks like a lot of fun! Can't wait
Looks great. As the quote said feels like a deconstruction in the same vein as unforgiven and i can't think of a more consistent actor than viggo. Last project i recall like this was three burials of melquiedes estrada
********* Spoilers****** Viggo Mortensen did a very good job writing, directing, and starring in his film “”The Dead Don’t Hurt””. It is a very good watch and held my interest every actor nailed their roles especially Vikki Krieps. I’m just very befuddled at how “ Vivian” died of syphilis? How could it be possible that she has the STD of syphilis when her rapist was healthy, Olson was healthy and her son “Vincent” was also healthy. I’m just curious why Viggo Mortensen chose an STD for Vivian’s cause of death.
Still rooting on Viggo to win that Oscar one day
