Great series, thank you! Should those scrap stringers have been placed across the joint and not parallel? Would peel ply have worked better than plastic?

Yes peel ply would have worked as well and I think the scrap pieces went on that way so that holes looked like wiring holes as found in the rest of the hull. For those watching this series, it is important to note that I was following the manual provided with the kit so as to be a resource for others. There were many things that I might have done differently.

hmm, why just not place the joint on a flat surface and put weight on it.

As replied below to a similar question. I followed the manual as written to be a resource to anyone else building a PT11. But yes, I would have just put some weight on the panels.

Tell me why you decided to nail them to the table? You've now got holes driven through the plywood. You were careful not to spill epoxy and stain the wood BUT you nailed holes through the ply. Could you have simply clamped them using wooden batons top and bottom? Why nail them to the bench and introduce holes? This isn't a troll response, I'm a boat builder (student) and if there's a lesson to be learned here?

Your right. These small holes will need to be filled. Personally I would have just weighted them down with lead weights or bricks, but on this build I am trying to exactly follow the manual provided with the kit so as to be a resource to other first time builders. And I suspect the designer has a reason for this method as well as Russel Brown is the guru of epoxy work and has written extensively on the subject.

@@OrcaboatsCa OK good to know. I thought it might be to prevent slipping but then again they're pretty good joints.
