I'm old, a former music teacher, but when young musicians like Sheeran with real talent write melodic music, trombone players or any instrument can take it and run with it, even without the lyrics. History has shown that over and over. this was outstanding. This is actually jazzy as well...
Patrick Durbin Thanks a lot! I´ll see what I can do.....if you want to listen to me play trombone quartet, check "Wuerzburg trombone quartet" on iTunes or Amazon :=)
Hi! I've been involved in playing and listening to brass bands my entire life and this is truly some of the most beautiful playing I have ever heard. Very well played, you're a credit to the musical world ❤🎼
Charlotte Birch What the hell happened that I did not respond to these comments for five years? I obviously just wasn‘t notified 😭 Thanks a lot, Charlotte!
My son just signed up for his school band. He is playing this instrument. Just seeing my son hold the case .. was like seeing this performance... I can’t wait for him to actually play .. I think I’ll cry or faint.. hahah🌹This was an amazing contribution to music. Thank you.
Erika Price Thanks for this comment! It took me quite a while to play this in a way that I could like it myself :) Ed Sheeran is a good singer with flexible voice and a little roughness in it...I found it hard to play this in a fitting way. But finally, I´m happy with my version :)
@Alberto Martinez Vicente Hey Alberto! Thank very much for liking my music! It took quite a while to get this done....I decided this song was my next project about 2-3 months ago and then noticed it was quite difficult to play it in a way I myself could like it :) I guess it was worth practicing and waiting for good results. I did not use any kind of score or notation for this. You might look at Christopher Bill. He recorded it too and has a quartet-score to download....have fun!
Tony O'Neill Thanks a lot! I guess I WILL do more videos! It´s fun, creative and somethings that stays for "eternity", if you want, in contrast to a concert, which you prepare once and then it is over :)
+Bonowombo hey, love the vid! I have a question about the mouthpiece you're using. I've been looking at the Lindberg series for a while, but cant decide which one to get. being a bass trombonist who likes to solo in his free time ;) I want a mouthpiece with decent flexibility and good tone production. is the 2cl hard to his the higher range with? if so, should I go with the 4cl instead, or would it not be that much of a difference? thanks!
The 2CL is not really big - or rather even small for a bass trombonist. I´m having no trouble in high range with it and would even use a bigger one of this series - if it existed :)
i play trombone in middle school and im just in aww on how amazing this is u just changed my world on how amazing u where, i look up to u now can u plz do shape of you by ed sheeren someday plz
I am like you. Very good at trombone and like trying to match the real music to my instrument(trombone) and making it sound good..... But I would have to say you are amazing like x1billion better then me :) Keep up the good work man you are amazing! You just kinda made my day. Btw I just subbed and i will continue to watch you.
@Samantha Conard: Happy if my playing can even change your mind about certain pieces of music :) And believe me: Wishing you could play that well is an important requirement for actually becoming good. The majority of players - I would dare to say - just don´t care whether they are good or not :)
Michael Munzert I really care how good I am at my music, I am a trombonist myself. So far, in my practices and our rehearsals, I am the best one playing, being my friends the second, and all the others fill the rear. And I do agree with you that not a lot of band members care what they sound like, I try to get my tuning correct, and all other stuff. By the way, do you have a method on playing sixteenth notes, eighths, and slurs, I'm having a bit of trouble with them, thanks!
Great sound and very well done! This inspires me to play more often (I hardly play lately). Also: We've got the same type of trombone :) I'm using a Vincent Bach 5C as a mouthpiece.
This is fantastic!!! I really enjoy all that you came up with for this. Your efforts working on it for the past couple months really paid off. The whistling was a great touch! Any chance that I can get the backing track you used for this?
@Darrien Ollivierre: Sorry, I can´t answer to you directly :( Thanks for your nice words! You can get Karaoke Versions of this in iTunes!! Just enter "Thinking out loud Karaoke". Have fun!
Well, the recorder is also a very nice instrument if you can play it really well. It probably suffers a bit from its tendency to be a beginners instrument :) Have fun!
Seriously man, I must have seen this video 100 times, I play trombone and really like your tune. I´m not goin to ask you for the score, but I would really appreciate if you could share the link of the karaoke version, as I can´t find any as good as this one. Vielen Dank ung gut gemacht!
+Gerardo Pérez Suárez Thanks a lot! I'm afraid I don't find it anymore :( I got it on iTunes and imported it to Logic...check the available versions there!!
What's the sterling silver bell like? I have an 88HO with a gold bell and I love it but I've heard the silver gives a brighter sound but can get a bit out of control (ie razzing too much) at louder dynamics...
I´m very happy with my sterling silver bell. It is brighter than the gold bell, but for my taste it´s a very good mixture between bright and mellow and you can have both worlds, so to say. In my opinion, the trombone does not have a tendency to overdrive....in the opposite: There´s a clearer tone with less rustling than on the gold bell Conns. Greetings!
Best instrument throughout all of history
and a very special one !
OMG!!! I'm a trombone player and this is AMAZING!!!
+John Lee Thanks you very much! Great if I inspired you...
same
i play the tenor trombone
i play trombone too and he is good
Contrabass trombone cimbasso and tuba

This is insanely amazing and this is proof of how good trombones can sound
I'm a Filipino and I don't sing that's why I love playing Trombone so much!
This is AWESOME!!! Great job!
A CD of this would be great. I can listen to you play all day.
Patrick Durbin Thanks a lot! I´ll see what I can do.....if you want to listen to me play trombone quartet, check "Wuerzburg trombone quartet" on iTunes or Amazon :=)
Yo that whistling section was genius!
Thanks!!!!

Does anyone know why it is impossible to answer to some replies (like the message of Charlotte Birch). The answer button ist just missing....
Just youtube being youtube
It's possible to turn off the comment function on a profile... So if a user has disabled his comment function, it's not possible to answer him.
ludwigdrums1000 Thanks for this! Now I know...
ist das ein standard instrument oder extra hergestellt ? ich könnt dir nen spitze instrumentenbauer empfehlen!

Katelyn Garcia Thanks!!! Happy if I inspired you :)
@Getavian Davis: Thanks!!!
Alright now, I hear you!
I hated the song but this is amazing. I'm still a beginner trombone. I'm in marching band I wish I could play that well.
My answer is four years late 🥴 Maybe by now, you‘re already a fine player 🤗
@Darrien Ollivierre: Sorry, I can´t answer to you directly :( Thanks for your nice words! You can get Karaoke Versions of this in iTunes!! Just enter "Thinking out loud Karaoke". Have fun!
2023 and still a fan from more than 8years ago
your awesome I look up to you!!!
Thank you, I´m happy you like it.
I currently play the most basic wind instrument which is the Recorder, I actually wish that I can play other wind instruments too.
Well, the recorder is also a very nice instrument if you can play it really well. It probably suffers a bit from its tendency to be a beginners instrument :) Have fun!
Amei muito bom

why did the notes at the beginning, before the chorus, remind me of 2017 Bluecoats?
*I’m too deep in DCI someone pull me out*
good job
hello , you play very good and you learned to whistle as well
...at the age of 3 years :)
